The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to reassess its customer service policies and shipping practices to enhance overall satisfaction.

I bid On 2 Roku boxes and won not knowing that there was only one remote and the main Roku which was the roku 3 Was the one I wanted didn't have A remote And usually you can order a remote but the Roku 3 remote Has a headphone jack and you can only use that remote with it! The reason why I found out is because I researched it And found it on shopgoodwill.com Texas store and I bid on it as well And won I paid for that one gladly! How so the other roku box is not Compatible with my TV because it only has AV Jack's it doesn't have HDMI Yes I should've paid better attention but it's not my fault that basically there's parts missing it's their job to research that stuff I am the buyer they're the seller! Anyways this is part three of the message I received!
3 - If we do not hear from you, in accordance with section 7 of the bidders agreement your privileges may be suspended or terminated.
Seller of this item: Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin, Inc.

Now tell me please how is it legal for them to be dishonest and sale items which are donated to them by the way so everything is 100% profit My stepson worked for them! He made $7 an hour and they would only let him work four hours a day so they do not pay their employees well! So how is it legal for them to force me to pay for this? I don't want my account banned but I don't wanna pay for something that I cannot use because of missing parts which I cannot order! I just don't want anyone else going through this! I hope my review will help Sincerely, Brian S Knoxville TN also I'm posting a picture of both as you can see wrong remote!
Used to get good artwork there, even though I don't know why there're handling fees (aren't they getting the goods for free?) and sometimes the shipping is ridiculous. Not until recently that I get why so many people are calling it a scam, After finding myself lost one auction, I was astounded that his bidding TIME displayed at the bidding history is 4/4/2021 12:35:52 PM, this item ends bid on 4/4/2021 7:02:00 PM, how come anyone can still place a bid after the bid has already ended? The seller was evasive in answering my inquiry until I asked for the third time, finally, they said they're just not sure about it.
I am going to share my story here.
I have been made over 6000 dollars purchases on this website and always have a feeling that they secretly raised the price for bidding. Until one day my account was locked for no reason and I filed a claim with no response. Then someone called me with all my previous purchase information saying they are from goodwill orange county. It turned out to be a completely fraud with no outcomes. But no one should know my previous purchase history except for them! Of course they said they never done that...
Be careful, they played as bidder and raised the price is not a secret but even more, they sell your information!
I can literally buy the same item 4-5 times with nothing but the shipping price. Way too high. And even though they do set a disclaimer that the products may not work, you could be at least nice enough to dial that shipping price way down if something seems noticeably suspicious. Terrible site. Buy from eBay instead where people actually are fair.
Edit: I began to snoop around the site a bit more and I came up with a discovery that just pushes my point home. As quoted from their help section: "Most major shipping carriers base their shipping rates on both the size and weight of the package, using a dimensional weight formula (typically, length x width x height divided by a dimensional weight divisor). If the dimensional weight exceeds the actual weight, the shipping cost is determined using the dimensional weight.". This just shows their greed, as the dimensional weight can sometimes be higher than the Actual, meaning that they prefer the one that gives the most amount of revenue and not the honest weight. Despicable.
Every item is miscalculated for shipping weights and weighted at 3 to 4 times over the accurate weight.
Your response is so slow so I ain't even funny. They will not respond to my replies and a fair timeline. This is the second time I have tried to deal with this site. I have been with him in the past, which was years ago. That's when I closed my account with him. Looks like I have to do it again. If I was my bank for a refund. This is the most inefficient company run to date. Good luck to all that stays with him.
Sometimes I get what is advertised... and it's ok. I try to purchase multiple items from the same location because some of them cap their handling fees at $10 and then shipping is combined... Sometimes these work out ok...
Issues...
They take crappy photos and deliberately hide damage on items they list as NWT... You can return items If they are not as stated BUT they don't refund the handling fees or the shipping or the sales tax... even though THEY made the mistake. So... they profit anyway even if you return the item.
They don't tell you that certain items can't be combined with others for shipping, even though SOME items are clearly marked "Can not be combined for shipping" in big red letters under the shipping tab... and you don't know that until you're done and try to pay... then that one $3.99 item costs $22. Because for completely unknown reasons you can't combine that one bikini bottom... if you ask, they take days to respond then say "Oh, that's weird. You better email customer service"... that takes 4 more days and they respond "Those can't be combined"... And if you don't pay for it then it's a black mark on your record. 3 of them and you can no longer shop there.
When they can't find an item you purchased... they give you a refund. For the cost of the item. They do not refund the handling fee, the shipping, or the sales tax. If you try to open a ticket... they ignore you. Pretty sure they can't legally just keep the sales tax they charged you on an item that they didn't have and you never received... but they do. How much trouble am I going to go to for $2... but it's one hell of a profitable scam for Goodwill when they profit from their own deception...
If you are having an issue with an item and are trying to work it out... they may simply not respond and your item then goes unpaid and, as I mentioned above, 3 unpaid items and you are banned from the site. They note that Covid has slowed things down (yes it has) so they may take longer to reply (which I totally get) but they haven't extended the time a buyer has to pay for an item... which means that if you want it... you have to pay the extra fees that they don't have listed and that you din't know about until after you've made the purchase and that you're trying to work out... or take the black "Unpaid item" mark...
The mold... "NWT"... that's all it says under "condition"... except the mold (you know that "it was in a flooded basement then tossed into a pile of debris for a month" mold) was heavy enough that simply opening the box... caused an asthma attack that lasted a month. Of course they have a disclaimer that all items are donated and they do their best... Maybe whoever listed that item (2 of them actually) had Covid and had lost their sense of smell...
Be careful about which locations you purchase from. Some are more honest than others... however management can change and you can get royally screwed just when you think you're ok.
Best advice... just don't.
If you win anything good for a good price they will just disable your account so you can't get the item you won. It's so unfair. It's not a real auction site for that reason. They disable accounts constantly for no legitimate reason. How is this not the definition of a rip-off site?
My favorite. Goodwill will show a box of cards but you cant see no cards, the bids up to 600$. So i ask them and they say, we dont know whats in there, BS.
Nobody bids that much money without knowing.
Employees tell their friends what's in there and they bid. They are shady.
Southern Fla is good for that with their "so-called mystery boxes" dont know whats in the boxes but some go for $1,500 and the box next to it goes for $50 BS
Ive called the AGs office on them. They as bad as Storage Treasures
I purchased 2 different pairs of sunglasses from the online auction division of this store. They advertised the sunglasses as Maui Jim brand. I received the sunglasses and immediately saw that these are not genuine Maui Jim brand. They did not have the company and style information printed on the arms, and the lenses are not polarized. Maui Jim only sells polarized sunglasses. I contacted Goodwill and was given a shipping label to return the first pair of sunglasses. I returned them, and Goodwill refused to return my money. They refused to respond to me after receiving the sunglasses back. I haven't returned the second pair yet, but I'm fighting to get my money back! What a scam!
Yes indeed! The Hagerstown Goodwill location known as horizon goodwill industries punished ME because fedex lost my package shipped from them. They had to refund me once b4 because of missing clothes in package that was SEALED. Corporate has numbers but they never answer or call you back after leave a message.
The shipping cost of an Item I was looking at was. 01 lb but their shipping per fedx on the listing has it as 14 lbs for a hair extension envelope that is less than 1 lb. another few items I've bid on in the last 5 minutes of the auction, person bid $20. Over current bid, at the same time, on another item, same person bid $10.01 over last bid. Same user id... too much of a coincidence...
Goodwillshopping.com will take advantage of you, either with unfair extreme shipping or item info that is not accurate.
I don't believe this for a minute! It has happened 3 times in a year, once they actually admitted they wanted more money for it and relisted it. Unethical at best. Are there any regulations for this kind of thing? The internet seems to say, ask the web site. Well of course, they are fine with it!
I tried 2 auctions with Goodwill and both orders arrived with broken pieces, not as described and basically garbage items. One was a down coat that was so old that when I had it cleaned(it stunk) it fell apart. They have terrible customer service and don't take responsibility for selling unusable items and describing them as "excellent" condition. Shipping is outrageous so save your money and don't buy from them.
I get the best deals on shopgoodwill.com. I never even knew this place existed until the pandemic, it's the highlight of 2020 for me.
I have had no problems with anything I have purchased and I have purchased a great deal of stuff here. Shipping is pretty fast too. And of course the deals are incredible. Love, love, love!
Now, I'll be the first to admit, you can find some good prices for some nice things on shopgoodwill.com. Aside from the fact that it's very suspect to me how the shipping is calculated. Seriously, I can find an item 800 miles away to ship, and it's 20 dollars, and then another one 1500 miles away, and it's only 11. Same carrier, same handling cost. What's up with THAT... I'm pretty sure if you buy anything non electrical, it's possibly a different story, but watch out for anything electrical, especially electronics. STUDY whatever pictures carefully, look to see if the case on an item has been opened such as amplifiers. LOOK CLOSE, expanded view. There's something going on with the bidding. I call it ghost bidding. Or, bidding by people who need to give it some thought, if it's not ghosts. If it's a worthwhile item, the price will constantly rise from say the usual 9.95 start, up to say, 50.00 in a few days, on a 7 day auction. On this site, you can bid anytime you want, but why run the price up for no reason. If you're bidding on an item,. Over how ever many days the auction is, it's the last minute that counts. Keep it low until then. Ghost bidding, is what I think is going on. I'm not sure other bidders are just running the price up on certain items, that early in the game. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm right.
These guys are horrible and the stuff is junk! > I was dumb enough to buy about 5 or so orders and was never once happy with the condition of items or shipping packaging. The last order showed up empty with a stick from the post office that read "This package is empty" I kid you not! They still have not refunded me my $60 either
Goodwill Should be ashamed. BBB, attorney general someone needs to investigate this company. Everything they receive is free to them plus they get a tax write off. They have Ghost bidders and mystery shopper that go to the bins and pull items for auctions. The Ghost bidders drive up the price on their online auctions. IN Store its just as bad when they sell a New with tag item for more than the retail tag is for. Example A childs Garananimal T shirt $3.99 at Walmart $4.99 at Goodwill. Disgusting tore up shoes $24.99! What is wrong with you people!
My last 2 purchases, and for sure my last ones, I clicked on shipping and handling fees, and added my high bid. Then when I checked out, they added sales tax. I can find no where on the web site that states they being a non-profit are charging tax. All of the local non-profit stores in my city do not charge sales tax. Another complaint, they list items with a high starting bid and state not tested. Who will buy an electronic item or any electric powered item as is? It is time to take shopgoodwill off of my book marks and forget them.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
