The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. I just wanted to say as a reseller, I very much appreciate Shopgoodwill.com. I have been shopping here for over 8 years and I would say 99.5% of the items I have purchased have been perfect. If there was something wrong with the item that was not mentioned or photographed, I have always gotten either a partial or full refund, but almost all of the time the items are in excellent condition. Granted shipping can be steep but I have noticed that in some of the locations they are now lower on the smaller items. Some seem crazy and I just don't bid on those items. The staff has been great in both the individual stores and the support site, they have always address my issues and are fair. Thank you guys, you are much appreciated!
Twice Shopgoodwill.com has ended auctions I was winning because they made an error in describing the item. I imagine the fact that the bids were higher than normal for silverplate caused them to look at the object again and realize it's sterling. It's a ridiculous practice because the bids were almost at market price for sterling, despite the error in the listing. They are shooting themselves in the foot because the idea of getting a great bargain is why people to shop at Goodwill. Not bidding at Shopgoodwill again. There are plenty of other online auction houses to choose from.
I purchased a painting off shopgoodwill.com and paid $292.00 for it. They advertised it would be shipped within 5 days & it has now been 11 and it has still not shipped. They refuse to advise me when & if it will. Purchased it as a Christmas gift on 12/5 & expected it to arrive from Tennessee to Florida within 20 days but they did not even try to make good on their word.
E-mailed them to find out why and was told FEDEX wanted too much money to ship it and that is who they use. This makes no sense because it weighs less than 10lbs and I was charged $25 for shipping and handling. On top of this the item was donated & they would make around $270 profit. Getting them to just cancel the order and issue me a refund has been like pulling teeth. Trying now to get PAYPAL involved to cancel the sale and credit my account. It has become a major ordeal and a pain,
I will NEVER donate to Goodwill again or buy from their store. They ripped me off for close to $300 & ruined my Xmas!
Rarely do upgrades make things worse, well, the occasional glitch is always possible... But in this case, it is like someone set out to make the site unusable. Hit the back button one time, and you are starting over... Just managing the watch list, now called "favorites" is pure agony, but you have to delete one before you can add one. Page numbers? Only at the bottom of the pages now. Basic things to make a website usable have all been sabotaged. How much time do you have to waste? Go to shopgoodwill.com then and waste it. When it feels like work and drudgery, you should be getting stuff for free. Customer service, completely unresponsive. Even finding a record of what you have bought ALREADY, nearly impossible. A usable site, if not super slick before, is now HORRENDOUSLY designed. Pay someone for things that matter, you already get all the items you sell for FREE. The items are DONATED, don't be so CHEAP. You are losing customers and money by the day. Many times more than what it would have cost to pay someone to upgrade it properly. Why wasn't there an involvement with the customers at all?
And I didn't think that could be possible. They removed a great deal of functionality, particularly on the "favorites" page, but didn't add anything of value. The system is slow, crashes constantly, and checkout is a nightmare. I paid using PayPal. It withdrew the money (I paid), but the system crashed before I hit "get your items". The consequence? It took my money but is still showing my items as unpaid. Contacted support through two different channels; no response. I won't be back.
I had a good experience I just bought an iPad and nothing is wrong with it. Idk if it's good luck or what but I'm happy to buy off of here
Don't like the new site at all. No Watch List or Last Chance option. Goes to show they're only out for the money. Greed rearing it's ugly big head.
Bought a lot of ties on their website, paid then they shipped in a timely manner. Then I noticed half the ties were missing. I contacted customer service... crickets. They then relisted what I ordered had already paid for and they did not ship to auction again. NOT HAPPY. Yeah, support our mission. You screw the customer left and right!
Awful upgrade! Couldn't make my payment & no response after notifying them. It's not user friendly at all!
Recently purchased a set of glass paying $333.00 which included S&H. When items arrived, one piece a Fenton bunny had the entire foot broken off and the large vase had been broken and glued back together. None of this was in the description of the items. I have emailed 8 times to both the store and the corporate office with no reply. Having to file a PayPal claim next and will also contact the BBB. Sad they are ripping people off.
I thought the site crashed, I missed an item I wanted to bid on because it wouldn't connect!
Slowly came back,,, but now horrible features!
Now can't WATCH the bidding on the item. You must re-find the item or copy the item number down and input it to find. It is 10 times slower than it was and gives erratic information about an item everything you search, terrible, terrible, Terrible! Bring back old software, now an erratic joke, now toooooo much work!
Your saved searches don't seem to transfer, navigation is not as user friendly as before, response times are very slow. If I could give it a half star I would. Bring back the old site.
There is no set return policy for online sales. So if employee ships ceramic item with single layer of paper on one side- then your out $60. Sigh. They are a rip off company that the CEO makes millions and they pay disabled people $2 an hour.
I've gotten 2 orders in a row now where the item is completely destroyed because they dont know how to pack things. The second time I even gave them explicit packing instructions and paid an extra $10 for them to do it... Still arrived broken. They have all this great vintage stuff and then they ship it and it breaks. Then I can't even submit a customer service ticket because their site is broken and I just get error messages, regardless of the browser I use. I'm officially done with this site. They are incompetent. Do yourself a favor and avoid buying anything from here except maybe a stuffed animal, but I'm sure they would find a way to break that in shipping too.
New Interface is AWFUL! New today button resets if you search for a specific item. Will not shop again after Hundreds of dollars spent.
Too many times now I have bought jewelry to find out the 18k piece of jewelry is not 18k on all pieces. Or is completely fraudulent.
I have shopped is goodwill stores for 25+ years, and have found amazing deals. And it has always been what thrifting is about, decent prices for used items. And when shopgoodwill.com came out, I was on board. However, the shipping has gotten ridiculous, and its easy to buy a $10 item, and have it cost $25 by the time you include shipping AND handling. On top of this, I have been told by district managers of goodwill, that they are REQUIRED to put items of higher value on the auction site, and are not supposed to put them on the sales floor. They are trying to maximize profit from these donations, which I get. So, the chances of finding a decently priced used item in a physical store will become less and less, as more stores start putting things on the website. When it comes to anything valuable, I would rather use ebay, where I know I can be reimbursed if the item arrives broken, and the seller will be held responsible if they misrepresent the item. Not to mention the fact that goodwill stores have dedicated people to look the item up on OTHER auction sites before listing. They usually don't bother to check the SOLD price, just what people have it listed for. Which is why you can find copies of common $2-$5 NES games listed at $20 plus shipping and handling on shopgoodwill.com.
Just an example. I bought what I thought was a PS2 backwards compatible PS3(the one with 4 USB ports and card readers) on shopgoodwill.com. And payed pretty good money for it since they are becoming rare. But once it arrived, it was just a normal PS3(2 USB ports and no card readers). Well, it turns out the person listing the item was being lazy and recycling pictures. They didn't know that there was different versions of the PS3. Several people bid on this item based on the pictures, while assuming thats what we would be buying. And when I brought this up to the store via a help ticket, I was told "sorry, we will try better next time".
I recently won a bracelet at auction from Goodwill of Southern Nevada Goodwill Clearance Center
7940 S. Valley View Blvd Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV. I bid on this bracelet because the listing stated it was gold-fill and I planned to refine it. (My second mom passed away, and I had to go out of state for her funeral, the bracelet arrived after I left.) I knew immediately after inspecting the bracelet that it wasn't as advertised. I tested it using the 3 scratch method and 14k jsp acid solution and know it is not gold-fill. I cannot use this piece and have requested a refund. I was basically told too bad so sad, and directed to their store policy, which is they don't guarantee what they are selling to be real. So basically I paid over $50 for a bracelet that is worthless. I don't understand how they do this in good conscience and turn around and say they are helping people. I took a video of the acid rest results, but cannot upload it... so I took still shots of my video. The original listing.

You think you found a good deal until you calculate shipping. I mean $15 to ship a t-shirt? I was about to bid on a baby diaper bag and I calculated shipping... No lie, $67 TO SHIP AN EMPTY BACKPACK. I asked them about the shipping and they gave me some BS answer about shipping dimensions which is a lie, I ship things everyday and know the cost. They are just trying to make some extra money on the shipping costs. You might get lucky and find an actual deal every once in a while but overall this site just isn't worth it due to shipping and shady seller practices.
I've visited this site many times. Trying not to see if each individual store was bad or it was the company itself. First the shipping and handling is ridiculous. The site had multiple ghost bidders to raise the price. Some of the items or promotional titles for the bids are misleading if not complete lies.
In the electronic section which I was most interested in purchasing... when the item was shipped. It took at a minimum of 7 days maybe longer just to ship. Despite the outrageous handling fee plus shipping fee. Approx 2 items out of the 30 items purchased actually worked. They sold items that were supposed to be together like a sound bar with subwoofer. They sold each separately in auction,. Contacted the seller is a joke. The response is always vague and nvr answered a question. The site sucks
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
