The company's reputation is marred by significant concerns regarding product quality and delivery reliability. Customers frequently express disappointment with the actual experience not aligning with promotional materials, citing poor cake quality and malfunctioning surprise elements. Additionally, service delays and inadequate customer support exacerbate frustrations, with many reporting late deliveries and unresponsive communication regarding refunds. I ordered two cakes from Send a Cake and their website was very misleading. I selected the candy surprise and the paid extra for butterflies, thinking it would have both. Apparently it negates the candy. I paid extra for a card that is a pop up but blank, the personal message it's on it. The cake is soooo tiny! I should have sent a cookie basket or something else for this price!
I had a terrible experience with this company. Ordered a gift to be delivered on Nov 7 and on the 8th was still not there, called customer service and they just said FedEx was having delays in the area. The prices for thisvitems are not cheap and in addition the charge an astronomical price for delivery. Please stay away, it's not worth the courage you will get.
$80 for a cupcake and some credit card fraud. After I made this purchase, my card was fraudulently used to make purchases totaling about $3000. We did receive the "cake" which was basically a small cupcake. Not sure how it is worth $80. Not even the butterflies make it worth $80.
Order never reached the recipient. Good luck getting through to customer service which is non-existent. Don't bother pressing "2" to leave a message because the mailbox is always full. Order a Send-A-Cake at your own risk. Forget about ordering if the recipient lives in an apartment building. Then they require a signature. Really? Better off sending Mrs. Fields cookies. They never fail to deliver. Even to apartments.
No cake delivered. The gift was delivered to another address and marked as delivered, but it wasn't. Send a cake agents stated a replacement will be sent to my loved one, however, there is still no update on the delivery.
Update 10/14: cake still not delivered and when customer service was called they told me to keep reviewing my email for updates. I will never order from this company again!
I ordered this for my fiance the one with exploding boxes/confetti with cake. I never received my package and instead of customer service helping they blamed FedEx when they're the ones who chose that horrible carrier. They did refund my $10.00 express shipping fee. However, they advised that I can call FedEx. For me it's very disappointing as I'm the customer who paid them fir a service. They should call FedEx ony behalf to find out what happened. I know FedEx lost the package. Additionally, they tried to tell me that although there's a delay we could still eat the cake as they're still edible after a few days. I'm upset because I don't care about eating the cake I cared about the package arriving on time for my fiances birthday which it didn't. I'm hoping I get my full refund.
Incredibly bad customer service and overall experience. The cake did not show up. I contacted customer service and after quite a bit of back and forth they informed me that the cake went to the wrong address, it went to the wrong state. They birthday had already passed, but I said if they could still send one, that would be fine or I'd take a refund. They said they do not take responsibility for packages sent to the wrong address so they would not give a refund nor would they send a new cake! They said hopefully if the person who got the cake, contacts them so maybe I could go there and get the cake myself! This has to be the craziest thing I ever heard, they want me to fly or drive to another state to get the cake? They said or I could BUY another cake! I no longer trust this company if this is how they treat their customers. I can not stress enough to avoid this company.
Buyer beware
I have used the company twice. The first time I sent a box to a coworker. I paid for expedited shipping and was nervous about whether it would arrive on time but it did and she was delighted with it.
So I was very comfortable doing the same for my son's birthday. However his box never arrived. I was so excited anticipating his reaction and then so disappointed When I contacted the company they insisted that it had been delivered. I have no idea where it was delivered but it wasn't to the right address. So now I'm out nearly $100, the burden is mine to investigate what Fed Ex did with the box, and my son didn't get a birthday greeting from me
It seems as though my initial trepidation was correct. 50/50 chances are not good enough in this economy. I wo t be using them again
I had an issue with the cake and instead of helping, they ignored me and did not want to be bothered. It has awful customer service. You out of luck if there is an issue.
Our experience with send a cake was that the butterflies were awesome! So you have to decide if $75 is worth a butterfly release! Most of the the candy came imbedded in the cake and apparently the cake was half melted and not edible either. Oh, and apparently it came with a note to freeze within 24 hours of receiving? That isn't mentioned on the website ANYWHERE! Making it extremely hard to warn the recipient if we don't know! Waste of money. Buy a box of exploding butterflies on Amazon!
This was a very welcome gift from a friend! I lived the butterflies! But when it came to the cake, absolute trash. Dry, hard, and crumbly. I threw it out. Don't waste your money. Go to Goldbelly instead.
Horrible experience #*******
Horrible experience! I 100% Do NOT recommend ordering from this company. I ordered a "surprise" cake with extras (Happy Birthday music, pop up card and confetti) for my granddaughters 14th birthday on Sept. 2nd to be delivered on Sept. 10th for her party with 20 children in attendance, blow up slides, bounce houses etc. The cake shipped Thursday, never delivered as requested on her birthday, didn't deliver on Sun either just got notice that it is out for delivery on 9/12. Really disappointing for a $70 cost and being 2 days late with me ordering a week in advance of her birthday to ensure it was received on her birthday. And all the notices I received said delivery date Sept 10th. The cake is currently at least 6 days old at this point! I contacted customer service who referred me to the shipper (which they selected not me) when you go to the shipping website it refers you back to Send A Cake via email and the phone number provided goes straight to a voicemail. Terrible customer service.
Date of experience: September 09,2022
I got the box on time but the cake was basically melted oozing out of the packaging. The butterflys were cool but got stuck in my mom's hair it's not worth the 70 bucks I paid for they should have kept it cool...
Ordered and SPECIFIED a PREFERRED delivery date! When informed that order was being delivered a day early, I contacted SendACake and informed them that no one would be home to retrieve. Was promised that they would contact the shipper and direct them to deliver on the DOCUMENTED date.
Cake delivered a day early when no one was home (maybe because they weren't expecting it until the following day?!) So, naturally, my sister's birthday was RUINED!
Tried to contact support and was left on hold for over ONE HOUR... emailed them, but NO REPLY (guess they didn't really care as they had already been PAID!)
I WILL be contacting the BBB, WA State Dept. of Agriculture, WA State Dept. of Health and multiple social media and consumer review platforms about this matter!
Thanks SendACake (*******@sendacake.com) and James Siew for making sure that a teenage girl's heart was broken!
Earlier I was notified by my credit unions fraud dept that someone ordered a cake using my credit card. I would really appreciate to know the address that this order was delivered to because it was ordered with a stolen credit card.
I sent a 69 dollar cake package to my grandson and was very disappointed
4 small pieces of candy, one match box car and a lot of confetti. No Cake. He is only 3 and he was very disappointed. No more. Keep your send a cake packages. Kathy Gill
Sent a cake to me granddaughter who was hospitalized while
Visiting out of town. The cake was delivered 2 days after promised and she had
Left town…. Use surprisecake.com instead
I wish I would've read one of these reviews saying the packages arrived two days early. I just got two packages that arrived two days early and completely ruined the surprise. Over 100° here as well where they left the package is laying.
And,
They won't answer phone calls or return emails…needless to say I won't be recommending or using them again.
The commercial makes this seem like the best gift ever. Our mother had a massive stroke and birthdays just aren't the same for me and my brother anymore. I got this to send to him and brighten his day since she always made such a huge deal about our birthdays. Chose the right day and thought this would be like flower delivery where the flowers are delivered on the day you need them to be. No. It was delivered a day early. Now today on his birthday he has nothing. It is an empty day. It reminds us that our mother is not here to wish us a happy birthday and it sucks. Thanks send a cake for getting something wrong that you could get right by using a reliable delivery service that you could employ on your own.
Was supposed to be a birthday gift but the birthday date all ready pass and it's still not delivered. I paid $104 it's included expedite delivery. I asked them why they taking the orders if they can't provide timely delivery. They use FedEx and say its not their problem.
Absolutely disappointed and not recommending their business to anyone.
Answer: Terrible Customer service. They provide a phone number but I've ben on hold for a least an hour (two different days) and they never pick up. When you tap to leave a message... the mailbox if full. Their email responses I think are AI. There is no name at the bottom and they are not helpful.
Answer: Yes it works. You can also go to eBay and just buy something called an “explosion birthday box”. They cost about $10 and do the same thing.
