I also sent my fully working phone to this site by recorded delivery, after 3 weeks i complain by email, only to have had an email sent back telling me that the chq was sent weeks ago. I was promised £24 for my phone, i might as well thrown it in the bin. Stay away from this website, i have since reported them to consumer direct i don't know if it will do any good! I sent my phone to sellold phone. co.uk after they told me it was worth £10 and it's been 10 weeks now and I haven't received anything even though they say they have sent payment. I have written to them but they say they want £10 to reissue the cheque which they won't confirm has been cashed or not. I will be getting intouch with trading standards and Watchdog about them. AVOID THIS SITE AT ALL COSTS!

Pretty much a legalised scam! AVIOD AVOID AVOID!
I went onto a mobile phone recyling price comparison site and Greener Tomorrow (who also trade under the name of selloldphone.co.uk) came up with the best price (£42).
I sent off my fully functioning and excellent condition phone to them only to receive a cheque a week or so later stating that the screen was scratched and only recieved £29.
The screen was certainly NOT scratched. I contacted them and they were not interested in the slightest, they were completely covered in their terms and conditions "small print".
My story is quite a favourable one compared to some I have read about this site/company.
AVOID - AVOID - AVOID - AVOID!

My nephew was caught with this site. He has learning difficulties and thought he could get money back on his old phone so posted it off to them. This phone was working perfectly and had everything with it including the original box. They e mailed back to say it was water damaged and they did not want it but would recycle it free of charge. When he asked for the phone back as they had said they would give him £21 for it then they told him he had to pay an administration charge of £20 if he wanted it returned. What a scam. I also am reporting this to watchdog and trading standards. This company is fraudulent and should be stopped from trading.

Sent them a working phone, they responded saying it was beyond repair and wouldn't give me anything for it, when I asked to return it, they wanted me to pay about £20 to have it returned! I refused to pay that much to have MY phone returned, (I did offer to pay postage) I still haven't had it back or had any money! DO NOT USE THIS SITE... I had a brilliant service from environfone with another non working phone so will in future stick to them!

Sent my phone off due to getting a new upgrade, on the website i was offered £35.50 (dependent on quality of phone). The phone was in excellent condition, no scuffs, no marks, fully operationable. I sent it off to the freepost address with phone and charger (read the terms an conditions, tiny little bit about the charger need to be included or deduction from payment). I recieved confirmation they recieved phone after 2 days (great, i think its going well). I then recieve a cheque 10 days later for £0 (yup thats correct zero pounds). WTF, why even send the fricking cheque! I ring the number from an above post and no answer, i have emailed them regarding it asking to send my phone back and i will give it to a friend or charity rather then give it to them for nothing. Awaitin response to mail and see what their response is.

Updated 14/5/2010: I emailed the enquiries and they contacted me and said it was an admin error and that a new cheque is in the post. I recieved a cheque for £30.

I sent my phone off over 3 weeks ago practically still looked brand new! Worked perfectly fine and took all my photos off it the day i sent it. Hardly a scratch. Over 3 weeks later i get a cheque for £30 when promised £80 due to Water Damaged! Absolute rubbish and am so angry i have been conned! I usually use a more reputable compnay like Mazuma or Envirophone who send payment within 48 hours (and they do) Whats worst is my network billed me £50 for keeping this phone due to the tariff i was on so was going to profit the £30 now i am out of pocket £20! DO NOT USE THIS SITE. I will be reporting to Watch Dog!

I recently sent my samsung u900 soul to selloldphone.co.uk, they offered me £28.10 for the phone. But when the cheque arrived it was for £5.00 and the letter said that the phone was water damaged. THIS IS A LIE! I WAS USING THAT PHONE JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE. THE ONLY REASON I SENT IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD MY YEARLY UPGRADE FROM MY PHONE PROVIDER.
I SENT THE PHONE IN A WATERPROOF ENVELOPE AND THEN PLACED THE ENVELOPE INTO A BOX, SO THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WATER DAMAGED IN TRANSIT! THEY ARE CON ARTISTS! I HAVE CONTACTED WATCHDOG ABOUT THIS COMPANY! I AM SOOOO ANGRY!

WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO GET JUSTICE. GO ONTO THE WATCHDOG WEBSITE AND WRITE YOUR STORY! THE MORE OF US THAT WRITE THE MORE LIKELY OUR VOICES WILL BE HEARD!

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MISJUSTICE FROM WWW.SELLOLDPHONE.CO.UK

Yeah, I wish I'd read the reviews on here too. I sent off 3 old nokia mobiles in perfect working condition. I included the chargers for each phone. They offered me £84 online, but then sent me a cheque for £64? The reason being because one phone had slight fascia wear & tear (ok, fair enough) and the other reason being 'there were no chargers included'! They were in the same package as the handsets! Do they think I'm stupid or something? Greener Tomorrow House is@ 9 Berkeley Close, NE35 9LQ. Take a look on Google street view and you'll see where all the money goes. Incredible...

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE - SCAM ARTISTS!

I sent them my Sony Ericcson at the end of January, stupidly because they offered £5 more for it than other sites. After waiting for six weeks and my Order Status not changing, I emailed them to ask what was happening. In fact, they didn't reply to my first email but replied very quickly when I emailed a second time threatening to contact Watchdog and Trading Standards! They claimed that they'd never received my phone, but told me that as it was sent using their Freepost service I could contact Royal Mail who apparently track all Freepost packages and refund me the cost of the lost phone. Two emails and several attempts to contact Royal Mail later, I discovered that the info SellOldPhone gave me was cr*p... in fact, they are just billed monthly for their total Freepost costs, and as they are the 'customer' with this service, THEY are the only ones who can claim for lost parcels. Several emails later explaining this during which they still maintained I had to claim to Royal Mail, and now they say (eventually, are several chase emails) that their Terms & Conditions state that it's my responsibility to ensure the phone arrives with them safely. As the phone was only worth £35 to them and I've NEVER had any problems using online recycling companies before (namely Mopay.co.uk), I'd trusted SellOldPhone would be ok, but in future I will definitely use Mopay.

Stay away from SellOldPhone. Please!

Do not use them, I wish I'd checked this website before I sent my LG Viewty off (for the promised price of £29) and received a cheque 3 weeks later (not '7 days guarunteed' as stated) for £17 because the 'charger and stylus' was not included. I did check the terms and conditions, and in there deeply it does mention this, but surely this should be stated on the order form?
If the order form states "£29 for an LG viewty" with no mention of charger or stylus, then this is what I should receive. I keep emailing them, I'm not going to give in (neither should anyone else).

There is now a number on the website - *******2375. They never pick up, but if anything will annoy them.

I also think everyone should report this website through http://www.ripofftipoff.net/notify.htm as this has upset so many people. (if we all do this, there should be more chance of something being done).

Sent three mobiles off and expected to receive the stated prices. All three were downgraded due to no charger being sent! They never asked for it! I still have them! Ahh but look hard, look really hard and you will find the terms and conditions that state "send charger" why not put this on the order page? I know... because then they can give you less money as they don't need the charger anyway!
One of the phones was a nokia n95 8gb that i used for two years and sent off after getting a new mobile, there was nothing wrong with it - trust me! Oh no say the rip off b*stards it has faulty lcd lines accross the screen so thats another £50 less we will give you. They have no phone number so can't call to complain as and when they do, if they do get back to you after using the contact page they say they can send the phones back for a £15 admin fee.
I am so ANGRY!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AND SPREAD THE WORD, TRADING STANDARDS ARE AWARE AND SO ARE WATCHDOG.

Considering I sent the phone in January, when all others are doing exactly the same thing for this month. I sent via APC, I have since received my cheque for the correct amount, so I had no problems using them! Thumbs up!
