I paid my self loan a year ago. They offered me a credit card which I accepted. I noticed a charge on my statement that was never authorized. I called to dispute the charge, had to hold on the phone for 45 minutes, spoke with a representative that immediately froze my card and said they would investigate the dispute and send me a replacement card. Three weeks later, when no card arrived, I began texting them about their failure to replace the card. They didn't actually read my communication, their response indicated that if I was disputing a charge that I needed to call Visa for that. They made zero mention of the card they never sent. That nonsensical response came from "Tyler".
I sent another email in response to "Tyler" where Tyler did not respond, I guess he handed the problem off to "Tashia" who again did not read anything I had written, rather she sent me a list of charges that I might want to review. This email was sent to me by "Tascha" after I had already received a snail mail letter saying they had confirmed the validity of my original dispute and were crediting my account permanently.
"Tashia" made zero reference to this letter or resolution which had already happened, rather she was saying that my account had been frozen by Visa for fishy charges, offering a small list of charges as the reason for the frozen account. This after I had already been told in a written letter that all was resolved in my favor and that a replacement card was on the way. Yet no card after four weeks and now Tasha saying that I needed to resolve the fishy charges and send them my "correct" address before any further action.?
I responded to them to either send me the new card, stop harassing me with idiot emails or cancel the account and return my deposit.
Six weeks and still no replacement card. All this hassle for a f... ing $10.00 disputed charge.

This companies customer service department is full of idiots.

I closed my card in Feb and was issued a refund. I get monthly emails about late payments and my score keeps dropping because they are still charging me interest each month.
I also have emails stating zero balance and that the account would never recommend or use again.

With so many options, why choose self? My score wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad. When I opened my score was 655. It's now at 670.Im sure they added a point or two but they charge fees for Everything! 9.00 just to open. Pay early fee, pay on time fee, close account Fee. I get that they need to make money but your holding my $! You make instrest, I get fees! I recently open a digital account with Discover. They have boosted my credit, have the best costumer service and charge NOTHING. Do you do diligence. I wouldn't suggest this app.

Be Careful

I enrolled in Self.Inc to rebuild my credit, but as life happens I was unable to make the monthly installments. When I realized this was not a good time to try and maintain this account, I called for a payout. I received less than $20 back... I paid about $85.00 into it! I was told the money was eaten up in late fees? Late fees? Paying myself?

I closed my credit card match 24th. They told mi would Have my money wishing 14 days. It's April 30th and still no money. Customer service sucks they just send the same email over and over. Nobody is there to actually talk to you or help. They just say to "wait" or we can send it again in mail. After it's been a month. $#*! self. Their services wasn't even worth it. They just make money off you to temporarily raise your score

My story
April 28, 2021

I opened up an account with them for $500. I checked all three reports and only one was reported. I called on numerous occasions and got nothing but a run around. They told me it will be on there next month then called again the same thing So I said let's call this quits. It's lol all BS!

At first my score shot up. Then I noticed once I got closer to paying it off my reports were incorrect and my points began to drop. I did not miss any payments but they kept reporting I had a balance on my credit card account that I never really used. It says I used 60% when my balance was $7 with a credit limit of $350. How? I'm very upset because I thought I was doing a good thing to boost my credit. Total scam.

Works quickly

I chose the largest savings plan ($150/month) and every time it gives me the option to increase my credit limit, I do it. I also recommend you use a loan consolidation company like Liberty Lending to resolve all your credit cards / loans. I've grown my credit score from 575 -> 725 in 6 months and have purchased a home.

Do not get the card.

Yes my score increased, but as soon as I got the card, the same card they hounded me about everyday, it dropped my score by 7 points. There was already a 25.00 charge on the card which is their annual cost to have the card. This is supposed to help your credit, not decrease it. Whatever you do, do not get the card.

Never heard of this company yet scammers easily used my checking account to pay their bill yet when I call they refuse to do anything about it because they say "well if you don't have an account with us I can't look it up" which is bogus. They can, they just don't care and looking at other reviews on here I'm not the only one! Will report to BBB now but doubt that's going to help either. This review wants me to add "proof of purchase"... funny how do I do that if I DIDN'T EVEN PURCHASE THIS CARD TO BEGIN WITH?!

Lord where do I begin in August 2020 about a charger I don't make as of Today Feb. 2021 they are still reporting me over limit. I have called, email etc. with No help I REALLY NEED TO CLOSE THIS ACCOUNT. Please Please don't use them drop 10 points a month because of them.

After I had closed my account with © Self Financial, Inc. they took my credit score down by 16 points. After I had been a member with for over two years. I paid all my fees and bills on time. I have the right to cancel their crefit card and not be penalizes.

I was late three times due to the pandemic. I did pay them off in full and they won't change the information in my credit reports. They even recently reported that I owe them 125.00 on two reports and 39 on a third report. I paid them in full one month before they reported this information. The account has been closed three months before the recent reporting from them. I've contacted them several times to fix this. I keep getting a robot answer sent to my email stating that they don't correct accurate information and that late payments will still display. I'm not even disputing the late payments. I'm disputing the balance. I don't owe them anything anymore. It's been paid. Anyone who pulls my credit is going to think I owe these people money. I'm highly considering legal action against them

A purchase at amazon Mind you I had more than enough $27.00 Long story short self inc for whatever reason denied my charge of $27.00 Also self inc been having issues allowing customers to put their transactions through

Useless. Have had this now almost 6 months. Yes it shows as an account on my credit BUT shows NO payment history. Just an open account and that's all. So I'm out MY money and have to now wait for many months to get MY money back and for what? Everytime I ask them why payment history doesn't show as on time and current on any of my reports they shift blame and responsibility to the bureaus.

Just get a secured card from a big company and use that. You will be better off that way. Don't waste your time with this company.

I Got Self With A 646 Credit Score With Credit Karma They Took My Score Down 37 Points When I First Opened It And I Opened It In August But Only Receive 1 Point Even When I Pay On Time And Even Double Payments

They are also customer friendly and helped me really improve my credit score. I was looking for new ways to earn online some months back and fortunately for me I got referred to MintonBlock by a colleague who introduced me to their digital assets investment fund. Really impressed with the customer service and my assigned manager patient and professional enough to walk me through the steps. And I've since been making decent monthly returns to help build my passive income portfolio. Will sure recommend.

This company allows its customers to commit fraud and theft from people by using others debit/checking accounts.
They will not even attempt to help rectify the situation, instead they wait days to respond if they do at all.
Your best bet if this company is involved with draining your bank accounts is to contact your bank, the police (make sure to include self.inc), the BBB and a lawyer if needed.

This company is garbage

Do not use this $#*!ty company for any credit builder account. I had a lost/stolen card and payment did not go through, they knew it was lost/stolen and this company put a late payment on my account that was not even true. Basically had better credit before I signed up with these scumbags. And as soon as I found out about the payment not going through, I paid it. One late payment knocked my credit score down 55 points. $#*! this company, go through a local bank, they have credit building accounts that wont $#*! rape you for a couple hundo and would at least give you a courtesy email and call.

They put a late payment on my credit report and ruined my credit. I tried contacting them and I got no response. This is very troubling because I was never late. And have been paying on time this entire time. This is sad that they ruined my only chances of refinancing my home. Call self please contact me and let me speak with someone? This was a big mistake doing business with them.
