If I could I would give no star.
I purchase the subscription and I was really enjoying the site until I saw my credit card bill. I was charged for the trial.
I contacted them and they refused to give a refund and also made a lot of excuses like I accessed premium content.
They also said that even though that was a trial I was going to be charged since I did not cancel, that's ok since I was planning to continue being a subscriber but I understand that I should only be charged after the trial not during it.
Scribd SUCKS if I could leave a 0 star rating, I would. They like to steal money from people. Hope they go out of business.

I made an account and subscribed to a free trial one year ago. At the end of the trial period, I tried to unsubscribe but it was not possible since my account stated I did not have a membership with Scribd. I reached out Scribd and was informed that they couldn't locate any membership linked to my e-mail address. Nevertheless, they charged me. I reached them out again and I quote their response "as a one-time courtesy", they will refund me PARTIALLY. They make it hard for people to unsubscribe and do not take responsibility for it. Worst service ever. Do not subscribe to Scribd.

After I had a subscription on scribd.com, I found that every month two payments were taken from the card on different days (both $ 8.99, the monthly subscription being $ 8.99)

I had a bad experience with this service - signed up twice by mistake and it took their staff 1 month of email communication to let me know that they won't refund me for paying double fee for almost a year.
In general it's a very useless app, few good books, loads of useless documents and it feels like half of their stuff is uploaded for the "bulk" to make it seem like they have a lot of resources. Trust me, they don't.
I regret signing up for it and paying double for nothing.

I received an email from Scribd, [ who I had never heard of], telling me that: Ref Order number *******, my card would be charged £8.99 on 12.01am UTC October 09 2019.
Since I never placed any such order and I don't ever read E books, this is a scam, BUT, the links they offer within the email allow me to either 'Read', or to contact them to cancel... However we all know that clicking on links to an unknown, un-asked for email making a suspicious request is likely to invite a virus... so no way am I clicking on any such links! I am aware that the management of this company read messages on this site... Hence I have included the so-called 'Order number etc, ' to allow the management to make sure they DO NOT try to deduct any sum from any of my cards. I am slightly reassurred in that my cards, address info and the three digit number are unknown to this company, and I have instructed my card issuer to not make any payment request of this sum or similar at or around the time of 09 October from either Scribd or any other company. The card fraud office have been informed. If any effort is made to deduct money from my card[s] then UK as well as USA online fraud will be involved. I trust the mangement will pay due heed to this warning, and to not send unrequested emails to others in the hope that some may indeed click on your links...

I found the content of Scribd to be pretty scattered when looking for a specific piece of information. I also found that one should never give their credit card number to these people. I canceled in June, my subscription should have expired by July. I had a recurring debit posted to my account. I decided to go back and check my cancellation. Low and behold, there was an extra added step that you have to pay attention too. I just received the third recurring charge. I had to call my bank to have this stopped. Go to hell scribd. Oh! It's wrong that 1/2 stars are not available.

We never signed up with these frauds and I am contesting their recurrent 8.99/month charges now with mastercard. I've no idea how they got my card number but these people should be avoided like the plague and prosecuted.

Don't EVER give these mother$#*!ers your credit card info. I clicked to cancel my ctedit card recurring oayment TWICE and it said that it registered, then charged me AGAIN. It has been a YEAR of this bull$#*!.

I find in SCRIBD many BEST SELLER that New York Times recommend. I pay eache year to Scribd and I have the options for read this best seller without more cost. I have so much books printed that I download from Scribd, books that dont find in library or implicate so big delivery cost if buy from Amazon.

I subscribed for a free trial and did not use it at all. After 2 weeks of not using it I wanted to cancel my subscription. On my account it tells me I do not have any subscription and no credit card on file, so I couldn't cancel it. I was getting charged every month. Finally, I contacted technical support and got an answer to delete the account. I followed provided steps, deleted account, but they are continuing charging me. Looks like I will need to contact my credit card company. I can not deal with it anymore.

If you elect to ignore all these people warning you off, at least take this advice; do not save all the audiobooks you are interested in to your reading list. They will make 80% of the books unavailable to you until your free trial has passed. This bait and switch amounts to unfair trade practices as defined in the state consumer protection laws of which I am aware. If I have one-tenth of the trouble canceling that the rest of these folks describe, I am going to make it my new hobby to get cease and desist orders issued by every state they do business in. (Note to Scribd.com, you'd be better off telling me to fornicate with myself than giving me that scripted, "sorry, but there's always something to read" response I keep seeing. I'd applaud that measure of honesty.

I am an entrepreneur myself and found the hard way about practices of Scribd. I cancelled nearly an year ago but they have a multi step cancellation process where each step looks like the cancellation is complete. I am going to talk to my lawyer to start a class action lawsuit - I have saved some of the screenshots and can hopefully in this process help others that have lost money.
