The company, Roomster, exhibits a polarized reputation among its users. Positive feedback highlights the platform's user-friendly interface and a variety of affordable listings, with some customers successfully finding suitable rooms. However, significant concerns overshadow these strengths, including deceptive practices regarding message visibility, a lack of genuine leads, and inadequate customer support. Many users express frustration over payment models that feel exploitative, alongside reports of scams and unresponsive service. Overall, while some appreciate the platform's potential, the prevailing sentiment suggests a need for improved transparency and customer care to enhance user trust and satisfaction.

I’ve been looking on the net for sites that provide a roommate matching type service. When I came across Roomster I really like the simplicity of the site, and the design was very free flowing and intuitive. I ended up finding a great room to rent after a few quick messages back and forth with some people.
I was doing Yahoo searches for roommate matching services and I ended up on Roomster. Roomster.com was easy to set up and I was able to find someone who met the standards so easily.
Really so happy that I found this site I had been looking in vain for a roommate for quite a long time to no avail but this site made it so easy to create a listing for exactly what I wanted and I found a great room to rent, nice.
I recently got a new job out-of-state and was looking for roommate solutions online and I stumbled across Roomster.com. Needed to give it a shot and decided to purchase a subscription. It was very easy to make a listing using my Twitter credentials and I was up and running in no time. They had an abundance of listings and it took me no time at all to find something that worked within my means.
Roomster is a fraud, and a waste of other peoples' time. From my experience and the look of the reviews on here, Roomster is posting fake reviews of itself.
I posted an ad on Kijiji to find a roommate, and today I have had multiple text messages from Roomster reps linking me to their site. One even pretended to be looking for a room, providing me with a link to their profile on Roomster. I texted back that I couldn't read it, and they tried to get me to join the site. I pointed out that they were texting with a New York phone number for an ad in Calgary, Alberta, and when I asked if they were in Calgary, and they never responded. The other text from them was from someone who claimed to be named Catherine R. Olivio.
I posted an ad for a roommate, not for spam messages from a desperate company.
Really appreciate the fact that Roomster offers tiered subscription plans so you can choose the one that works best for you. I purchased a 15-day subscription and found an amazing room to rent couldn’t be happier!
Had a very pleasant experience with Roomster, used the site to rent a spare room in my house and was it was very easy, no headache. Found a very nice young college student to rent the room and
After reading reviews online I decided to purchase a subscription for Roomster and I have to say I am very happy with the choice I made their site helped me find a great room to rent with some awesome people.
The site is fairly simple to use I love the continuous scroll and they have a large volume of users adding new listings constantly so it is easy to find what you're looking for
Roomster is a great alternative to other sites that don't offer half the functionality or ease-of-use that this size does. They do a very good job of giving you relevant information and easy access to their resources
Heard about Roomster through a colleague of mine and decided to check the site out. Design was very nice and clean and it seemed like they had a ton of rooms available at various price points
Relative of mine told me about Roomster after they had used it with success and I'm glad to say I really enjoyed the site as well great functionality
Not sure how I ended up on Roomster but I'm glad I did it was very easy to make a listing for what I wanted and I was able to find a roommate to share my apartment with fairly easily
Can't say how happy I am I found this site, saved me from so much hassle trying to find a roommate through other avenues that I felt were quite exhausted
Had a great experience on Roomster used it to find a roommate and the prices were very reasonable and the site was easy to use
Whereas the idea of Facebook identity verification is nice and the dual login is clever, the overall service is not good at all. Slick web design does not make up for the inherent flaws in the overall site and business plan.
1. email feature within the site does not always load (and that is really what a client pays for) nor does it seem like it actually works.
2. the location specificity is far too general. A "Denver" search, for instance, yielded all of the townships that are no where near Denver. A client cannot narrow a search to anything less than a 50 mile radius. At first glance, there might be 50 rental options, but take away the distal suburbs and towns, and there is little to be found.
3. both parties (room posters and room seekers) are charged for a subscription. It SHOULD be that room posters pay and the seekers do not. If "Roomster" would consider where the money is about to go, the room posters certainly can afford to pay for a subscription. The room seekers are about to experience huge cash outflows: moving expenses, first/last month rent, and a security deposit.
4. not a huge issue to rest on Roomster's shoulders, but... A number of room posters will post their pads on craigslist and other sites. They will direct their respondents to their Roomster site and all links they provide go to the login. There is NO WAY for a seeker to locate their ad in Roomster. So both parties lose out.
In summary, the Roomster concept seems to work, but the execution falls very short for the price. And continuous subscriptions? This is an insidious practice in which magazines don't even engage. There are plenty of competitors of Roomster out there that execute far better and for better prices. Roomster is well advised to buck up and buy them all out or move out of the way.
Dear Roomster: Wither and die. May my one time subscription help pay for your last month's rent. F-U.
Very pleased with my experience on Roomster. I made a listing that I was searching for a room that was pet friendly and after a few days of exchanging messages with some people I found the perfect match.
All my friends found rooms to rent through a broker but I really did not feel good about paying such a hefty brokers fee to find a place. I went on Roomster and was so happy to find an abundance of quality listings across a range of prices to meet my needs. Told all my friends about it and they wish they had known about it.
So happy with Roomster, they made my life so much easier to find a nice affordable room to rent! They had so many listings, which are very easy to sort through based on your needs.
After perusing the site I decided to get a 15-day subscription to see if I could find a nice clean room to rent for a decent rate. Ended up finding something nicer than what I expected for a cheaper price than I was willing to shell out, very happy.

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
