My ring worked well however they now want to charge me for the video recording space. This was NEVER talked about prior to my purchase. Got a notification on my phone thru ring that my video recordings would disappear in x days if I don't sign up and give them my credit card data. The cost is 3$ a month or 30$ a year for the recordings. I am extremely upset about this otherwise I would have never bought this product knowing there was a continuous cost for its operation. Absolute hidden rip off! Buy something that offers the monitoring for its product life, otherwise you will be paying for it over and over again.

DO NOT BUY FROM RING.COM. They are incompetent and not truthful whatsoever. They will tell you lies about your orders; promise to ship and only provide a tracking number to a label printed, no product shipped. After contacting 12 people at Ring.com, they still were unprofessional, several different answers and social media director reached out after 11 other people couldn't resolve the issue. BUYER BEWARE! Most incompetent personnel I have EVER encountered. Absolutely miserable!

Always needs recharging

Battery always need recharging every week. It's a huge hassle. We have a sign now in front of our door that says that our ringer doesn't work all the time, and to knock instead!

Piece of junk

I installed it, worked for 20 days. After spending 15 hours or more on the phone with their technical support and receiving 2 replacements and 2 chime pros NOT 1 OF THEM WORK! Do not waste your time and money on this faulty product!

Set system up. Paid for service and it only worked intermittently at best. Got tech help on a few occasions then was told it needed faster than I had. Invested much more money for a faster service in my area only for it to still not enough. Stuck with an expensive 2 year contract for nothing. They should make that information more announced in their information on their site and their TV ads. Extremely disappointed.

I paid for Ring for one year in May. Worked great June my service got turned off. I called they said email a copy of your bank statement showing your payment and we will resolve the issue and get you back on. I did exactly what customer service told me to do. Never heard back from them. Never got my service. As of todate I have called and ask for help again always with a different person each time repeat my problem they tell me to do the same thing I have been doing since June and 12 calls and emails. Terrible company they taje your money and lie if you call for help.

I don trust this company

Purchased from QVC but chime was DOA I contacted QVC only to be bombarded by emails from ring asking for all my personal details including credit card number before they would replace. I found this odd so boxed up sent back to QVC.
Ring I found was a unhelpful company

What a s''t company.
They don't tell you when you buy that after 30 days you won't be able to record or save any activity. You have to sign up for a service to capture and save any recordings, which basically means your purchase was a complete waste!
So don't waste your time unless you want another subscription service to your growing list of blood sucking sellers out to get your continuing revenue stream.

Worked for about 2 weeks and then wouldnt connect to wifi. Spent hours trying to sort this out and had tech support on the phone and email... still not resolved. It went back in the box and sat on a shelf for 6 months, then i thought i'd give it another chance. I shouldn't have wasted my time, the doorbell is total rubbish and i don't believe it will ever work. Its going in the bin, i'll be £120 the poorer but i'll be a whole lot happier. I also tell my mates and my customers to avoid this heap of crap. Dont waste time, energy or money... choose a different manufacturer!

Liars!

Horrible horrible horrible! They always lie. Batteries only last 1 week be4 dying. Solar panels do not work - even when facing the sun. Also, had to get my bank to file a fraudulent claim for a refund that was never issued to me from RING for a return of the home alarm system that could not be installed. They emailed phony receipts to me saying the money had been issued to my account a month prior. My bank said it had never been issued. When I explained the situation, my bank gave me a credit in the amount owed by RING and RING then was forced to finally issue the return to my bank. A bunch of scammers! Get another security system. Do not waste ur money here.

They lie##

I purchased Ring. Paid in full for one year in May 2018. Worked great for 2 months then said I never paid. I called customer service a total of 7 times now. I always get a different person they tell me to email proof I paid. I email a copy of my bank statement 7 times. Call back they tell me they are looking into and will take care of the problem. This has been six weeks. No ones does anything. I paid in full for one year. Can't get any help no one will even call me back. I'm totally can not believe they took my money. Now play games. This is a major rip off.

Don't buy

In an 800 sq foot house it did not work went back to best buy couple days later bought the $50 charm. Worked 7was broken in under 20 days and0 percent of the time. They said they could not figure out why maybe the small brick area in my house. HMMM does none of the mega mansions it is being installed in have a little bit of brick. I have the strongest Internet so was not that. Then it stopped working completely. Best buy who Ring told me would refund me even though past 15 days was at 19 gave me a gift card. A gift card to a store I haven't stepped foot in over ten years. Refused to actually give me my money back for a broken item that the manufacturer said would.

1 1/2 weeks After I posted the negative review and returned the product back to Costco, I received a call from Andrez ( customer Service Dept.), he offered my a free Ring Video door bell and Chime with the one year free storage service, he did honor the offer and made a BIG difference in my perception of their company.
Now everything is connected and working fine.
Thank you Andrez, I do appreciate your efforts and pulling thru this bad situation for both of us.

They approach me via this site, they requested more info, I sent it, THEY DID NOTHING! The just not honor what they advertise on their products, apparently the left hand does Marketing and the Right one has no idea. 1 YEAR FREE VIDEO STORAGE, FREE VIDEO HISTORY, FREE VIDEO SHARING... FALSE IT'S A LIE!
They just answer politely to show that they care, They Don't!
I wasted more of my time answering their garbage message.
The product is going back to Costco, with a letter of dissatisfaction to upper Management.

Ring customer service

I have been with ring for long time! Good people and they have gotten to big. They must answer the phone and hang up- all done! The good customers with 3 or more products get put in the same group of one product of just complaining to be complaining. A list airlines has customer loyalty. As your products fail and you abuse your A list telling them it's them. Just explain your products fail and buy a replacement!

From love it to hate it

I bought 4 ring products over about one year time. I have the ring bell, two floodlight cams, and one spot light cam. The spot light cam was installed at my vacation home. It was great until somehow it lost connect and needed reset. I have to be there in person with my iphone in order to reset. So now, it sits there doing nothing and wait for me go there! One of floodlight cam at my home cannot get any view and not capture any motion. Only the light on and off on its own at time even I turned them off. It is only 10-15 feet from the router and strong Internet speed compare the other one that three floor ups from the Internet. Today I tried to get help! It was helpless. I was told to talk my Internet provider, or two floodlights might take too much load, so one takes the capacity of the other. I got Internet speed 266 download and almost 10 upload. More than required capacity as Ring describes. I am so upset. It is not only cost of products, I had to hire electrician to install them. I am going to return the product. I have to replace the spotlight one when I can, another waste of money.

Have owned a rD2 for just over a week now. Installed it correctly (I am an electronics engineer) and it worked/trickle charged the first couple of days. Then it stopped trickle charging and quickly (5 days) 43% battery was left. I get about 3-5 people at my frontdoor per day which I don't find excessive but Ring people do challenge me and say the number of events per day cannot be too high.
4 calls with ring support further (and numerous mails they don't respond to) I have been promised a new battery to be sent. In a mail they stated I can use the extra battery to exchange the existing one and vice versa and charge the spare one up via USB. That would be a great solution having to exchange battery every week for a product I bought which should charge via existing wiring!

Stuck with a crap doorbell now, return to retailer will leave me to pay shipment cost, so thanks to a poor product and equal support level I am either bound to a crappy solution (weekly battery exchanges) or a $19 return cost.

In my country when a product does not work you get a full refund or an exchange, Ring, hiding behind a website in the USA seemingly does not need to do this.

My advice to others, stay away from this company

While it is true that the batteries can last between six and 12 months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors including weather, the number of events captured etc. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events daily, you can try adjusting your motion settings. I've had the Ring for quite awhile; like others, I really wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. What I now doubt is that it will ever work correctly. I have the hard-wired one and I even bought a new recommended by Ring transformer for the doorbell. It made no difference. When the doorbell is depressed, it freezes EVERYTIME! Hey Ring, take a look at my doorbell history and you'll see it. The whole point for me was to be able to talk to those ringing my bell. But alas, no. We test it, we try it, etc. no good. By the way, we are a tech savvy home. This has been a waste of money and a huge waste of time. Looks like an example of you get what you pay for. I'm tearing this thing out and buying something more robust.

I gave Ring benefit of the doubt in case I do not fully know how to use the Ring Doorbell to get VIDEO ALERT without a paid subscription plan. So far I have not heard back from them. I guess their responses to the reviewers is just a smoke screen to show they care. Almost all their responses are similar and appeared they are eager to help. I wonder how many reviewers get their issues resolved! Below is my latest email to Bilan;

You mentioned I quote: (There is no obligation to subscribe to a Protect Plan, nor will you be automatically signed up for it...) NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS BASIC CONSUMER RIGHT and I am well aware of it! My major complaint is Ring does not mention a word on their product packaging about subscription you have to pay to view the video. Most of your competitors allow video clips to be viewed for several days for free so that one can review who was at the door. Yes I still get alert on my smart phone BUT WITHOUT video is USELESS! You must realize most people cannot immediately go to Life View at the instant when the smart phone receives an alert triggered by motion or door bell. IMO Ring should allow the consumer to review the video at least once or within a certain period of time for free without having to pay to subscribe to your plan! The non-disclosure on the packaging to inform the buyer about subscription fees is misleading the consumers!

Why do I have to pay to subscribe to their plan in order to see video alert? Although Ring said you can still see live video alert on your smart phone without subscribing to their plan which is not true, by the time you open the app when you get the ring on your phone, the video is already gone! They should allow you to review the video at least one time or allow you to download the video if you want to. I would never purchase this device if I knew I could not see the video without subscribing. I could simply get a motion detector that wifi to my phone that someone is at my door. I feel like I am misled and being held hostage!

I have tried to give this the device the benefit of the doubt, thinking that one of the many updates will eventually resolve this crappy door bell. Someone rings the bell and I can not get it to activate but if i go to live view miraculously I can see who is at the door. I have given it every chance. It comes down this weekend!
