The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to persistent issues with its app functionality and severe lapses in customer service. Many users report unauthorized charges, unresponsive support, and account closures without clear explanations, leading to a sense of mistrust. While some customers appreciate the ease of use and transparent fees, these positives are overshadowed by widespread complaints about the company's handling of disputes and refunds. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for improved customer support and a more reliable banking experience to restore trust among users.

On the first of April 2021 my Revoult card, app and account had not been unused in a year. There was £350 on my card. That morning with my phone in my hand and my card locked in a draw someone somewhere changed my pin. They then emptied my bank account into my Revoult account, then in one hour they pulled £6000 from various currency exchanges and cash withdrawals. My Bank spotted it and called me and I rushed to the Revolut app but they had changed my pin, no way in and no way to contact Revoult. I begged the assistant on their FB page to call someone, just to cancel my card at least but he would not.
They had hacked my email, forwarded one mail to themselves and that was all they needed, no card, no pin, no password. The string of physically impossible withdrawals my Bank saw in minutes and stopped on their end Revoult never spotted and my card remained active and my account working until a day and a half later when I convinced them to shut it all down. Despite two assistants being told in full what was happening in that time.
The attack came from inside the Revolut app. It wasn't just the pin. Even when I reset the password, did a selfy check, reinstalled the app. The app just went into loops until ultimately it was a black screen, and the only thing that the app had done since spring of 2020 was the update, the app requested the update and the update was from inside the app.
When I did regain access to the app the next day I spent hours explaining to them. They seemed reluctant to believe it had even happened. Eventually, they accepted that it was fraud and shut the app and card down to a blue screen saying they are looking into it with a chat option.
The attempted withdrawals started again about a week after the attack, I tried to tell Revolut on chat but their assistants, one after another ignored what I said and talked non sequitur gibberish. Taking sometimes half an hour, sometimes next day to give the same cut and paste answers over and over again to question I was not asking, ending with "goodbye" and "rate this chat".
12 days after the attack. Now it's just a blue screen saying "we need some more information". Chat says they don't need any information. I've no access to the money in their account until they open shop again.
15 days after the attack I received two android notifications from Revoult. The first that the top-up was attempted again. The second saying, "Your account has been deactivated. After reviewing your details, we're sorry to say that we're no longer able to offer you our services and we've made this decision to permanently close your account"
The Revolut app is still a blue screen saying "we need some more information." But no one answers the chat anymore. I guess that's it.
In the end, the Revoult card was direct access to my bank account, they could never have gotten past my bank's security and into my account without it. Thank god I only had the one card linked to it and only £350 on the Revolult account itself. My bank stopped most of the money going out, cancelling the card before the hour was up and the next day refunded the £2700 they were too late to stop.
I put this here as a warning. I met a young Australian girl recently that said she had Revoult as her primary account, all her savings were on there. This was a nightmare, an attack that came from inside their app and almost took everything from me. Their response was silence for over two weeks then to permanently close my account taking my money and leaving no way to ever even contact them again.
Often freezes, it's very embarrassing to have your card frozen when you are about to pay... They are slow and unprofessional, they put your account for verification for months and you cannot access your money, and their trading platform is the worst! Trading there was good at first than they started increasing the custody fees, with 1116%. You get crashes and zero responsibility from their side, the charts are probably purposefully started several minutes after the market opens and if you put more than ******* still you cannot do day trading! Do not recommend use N26 and Binance and Coinbasepro
I opened a company and as such, I needed to open a bank account. After seeing sites advising Revolut as an ideal bank for small and medium-sized businesses with no maintenance costs, decide to open a business account with Revolut.
I filled in all the requested fields and in the field to prove the nature of the business, it appeared as the first option to attach a customer invoice and the bank statement to prove that the company had received this money. The company was just created and had no other bank account, so that option was out of the question, so I opted for the next option that asked to attach an invoice from a supplier, I attached 5 invoices from suppliers and I also attached the Commercial Certificate of the company because, in addition to being the official document of the companies operating in Portugal, it mentions all the activities that the company is legally qualified to practice and the respective CAE's.
To my great amazement, this documentation was refused and they again asked for a customer invoice with the respective bank statement.
I contacted Customer Support, Mr. Nomi, and 3 times I explained that it was a new company and that I had no other bank account but he keep asking for the bank statement. It was clear that he did not even bother to read what I was writing, probably busy with other things, and continued to automatically repeat the same requests ignoring the answers.
Even when I asked why they refused the invoices from suppliers when the site presents as an option to prove the nature of the business, I was completely ignored and I was not even entitled to an answer. And that's how customer service ended, with me asking questions and Nomi completely ignoring what I was asking.
More seriously, the Commercial Certificate, which is the legal document that certifies companies in Portugal and provides all the company's legal information, was completely ignored.
If it weren't serious, it was at least a cause for indignation. Revolut comes to do business in a country and does not even bother to identify which documents are legally valid in that country? It works in Portugal as if it were in England and even the interlocutors who are studying Portuguese documents don't even know how to read Portuguese.
So be careful when you read that Revolut is a great solution for companies because if you have to open an account like I did, then you will find that the quality of Revolut's Customer Support is at the worst that you will ever encounter.
The minimum required is that they comply with Portuguese law, if Portuguese companies have to do this, why don't Revolut?
Disrespect for Portugal and the Portuguese is at least insulting.
In general I liked Revolut. I sometimes use their B2C service, and was happy with it - so I tried Revolut Business!
I have tried to open an account for three different regular German companies. The opening process took 7+ weeks, they asked for various kinds of documents (those were brand new companies, so no history at all), finally denied the opening of one account and randomly closed another account. Nobody answers your questions, only the same answers over and over again from a customer service robot.
This is nowhere near their promise to be a modern bank. Every "old school" bank would have opened the account in days.
In Europe, there are so many competitors like Holvi, Penta, N26 etc. - use one of them, but NEVER NEVER use Revolut Business. They'll screw you and randomly close your account without warning.
Revolut is truly a financial revolution.
100% online bank and trading services.
THE GOOD
Easy to use
User friendly
Trustable
THE BAD
Some user reported having their account suddenly closed
BOTTOM LINE
It´s for sure one of my favorite online financial services.
I have even tried some trading and investing, and it was profitable.
Everything was great until I've been asked to prove my source of funds. Since I sent them my documents, no one has responded me yet. I chatted with a live Agent and that agent sent me to another agent, now I'm stuck because since I was waiting for that live Agent to respond. I've been waiting for days. How many days do you really need to verify some PDFs? How many days?
Handy features & good interface. Would recommend especially if you travel alot! Also great for free withdrawals.
Expensive pricing expecting some good service. This is not the case with Revolut. Service is the worst ever, it may need you a full month of writing them, maybe some body would revert, however not sure solve the problem. You'll mainly be blocked without even they request you to submit one single document taking your money their hostage. It could be their policy to finance their operations. Better keep away, they might turn the next wirecard anytime. Be sure your high street bank is way better than those people, I've been fooled, thousands been fooled till now, You try to avoid. Don't be be impressed by good reviews especially those on Trust Pilot. Revolut are paying even for fake good reviews.
It is excellent, despite some small things that can always be improved. For example, their app each time requiring to sign in after going to background is a bit annoying. Also, accounts are tied to phone numbers, so when I was in another country with their own SIM, I was unable to access the account due to disabled roaming on my original SIM card. But, as for payment service, it is really good, reliable and with real time exchange rates.
STAY AWAY!
I'm using Revolut for around a year now, on business account basis. My account is disabled for over 10 days now, as a business account using only Revout for daily bank usage im now unable to send any payments to all my service providers and I can not receive any payments from my customers.
Revolut are criminals, hurting business working with them, I already filled a compliant with the FCA and hope to see it solved soon.
Until now everything was smooth, incoming and outgoing, and still - I will never recommend anyone to use their services, do it only if you wish to loos all the money on the account at some point.
On one end they try to show themselves as a regulated EMI and on the other end they treat their customers as last priority, doing what every they want, wild west style. Not giving any time frame, not asking any question, just telling me that it can take as much as needed (years even).
STAY AWAY!
I've been a Revolut customer since the beginning of 2019, and earlier this month my account was randomly locked (meaning I cannot access my funds). They asked for some documents, which I supplied, and promised to resolve the case in 96 hours or less. That is now almost two weeks ago (!), and not only have they not messaged, they blocked the support function in the app, meaning I can't even ask them what is going on!
Before this incident, I was a happy user, but now I'm utterly disgusted. I used to recommend Revolut to friends, but now have to warn them to think twice before putting any meaningful money on Revolut, since they can lose access to it at any time. Luckily, I pay my rent from another account - imagine if that wasn't the case?!@Revolut, seriously, all it takes is (1) communication and (2) keeping your promises - things every customer should be able to expect from a company which claims to be better than the 'old banks'.
An update after account being locked for almost a month:
One of the revolut's agents contacted me 2 weeks after my account is locked, after chatting for more than a week, supplying multiple documents, I finally reached the last stage of the evaluation i. E. submitting the last document he asked. Right before I submit that document, the chat was dropped! I have to contact a new agent and do this whole thing ALL OVER AGAIN! I seriously cannot believe this! Spending hours of my holiday dealing with this nonsense! Get yourself together revolut! This is the worst customer service I have dealt with in my whole life!
-Another update after one month: I had to post on Revolut's facebook page in order to get an agent to reply to my messages on the app - they only start to care about your issue when you are damaging their public image (i. E. the first agent came to me after this Trustpilot post, and the second after a facebook post). After that, I was switched among 6 Revolut agents who asked for repetitive documents and digging into things like my parents' tax returns and my birth certificate... I've been banking with high street banks (TSB and Natwest) for over 10 years, and have never ever experienced such nonsense! In the end, I was just super fed up with this utterly unreliable and irresponsible company and decided to close my account and have all my funds reverted to the original source (one of my high street bank accounts). If you are dealing with Revolut for more than 1 month and it's still not going anywhere, I highly recommend you to close your account cuz it's just a way easier solution (funds reverted to my account in 3 days). I will never use Revolut again and will suggest all my friends not to use their service in the future.
Very good exchange rates, you can buy cryptocurrencies with it, their app is easy to.use. And you get $$ for referring them.to your friends.
It's a really reliable and very cheap banking service across borders. Totally awesome. Something went wrong a couple of times, customer service always helped me out, and I got my money. When you send money to Revolut, you have to add your personal id as a note. When I forgot it, I told them, and they fixed it for me to get the money anyway. I like the idea to change currencies without any charge, transferring money, having a credit card free (pay the deliver only), etc. Simply excellent!
Anyone dealing with Revolut (http://www.revolut.com) should be aware that the company is a scam.
On 30 March, I transferred 200 on my account at Revolut. My mistake is that I did so from an account that is not in my name, a situation Revolut cannot handle. I immediately informed Revolut of this fact, and they confirmed they could not handle the matching to my account. But they said they would credit me back. Nothing happened for two months. I have been in constant contact with them to induce them to pay me back. Early July, the money has still not arrived.
I would recommend anyone to avoid having to deal with Revolut.
Save pennies, lose hundreds of Euros this is the slogan I suggest Revolut adopts.
Answer: Transferwise, and Monese, but they have much less of the features.
Answer: It is legal company, and it is now a normal bank with deposits insurance.
