The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.

My experience with Restaurant.com has been horrible. Purchased restaurant certificates only to find that restaurants have gone out of business. Have shown up at restaurants only to find out they no longer accept their certificates. Have tried to access my account to print certificates only to find that site experiencing difficulties. Trying to get help from them to resolve issues next to impossible. Stay away.
I used to visit this site frequently and take advantage of the deals, but the new format is not at all user friendly, and doesn't really have much in the way of deals anymore. But the most annoying feature is the mandatory 30 second ad that I am forced to sit through each time I open a page to look into a specific restaurant. I understand that most websites make their money through paid advertisements, but this is just obnoxious. I found this to be so annoying and intrusive that I will never visit that site again.
We are a restaurant that refuses to be advertised on their website. I have been dealing with them for 1.5 years now, sent 3 BBB complaints about them and still, after periods of glorious absent silence, they return. They are like a bad std that keeps flaring up. They do have one solid customer service person, Dee K. She actually has some customer service chops, and the others falter when you dish out the same annoyance to them. I pray that nobody uses this site ever. Please stop the calls and please stop the continued support of bad restaurants that need them. Unfortunately, if the restaurant they have on there struggles, let them die. The idea of passing on the savings to the consumer is killing the margins on the restaurant. Let them all die to make restaurant.com pass away.
I wish restaurants wouldn't participate on this certificate discount thing if they don't intend of really giving you a discount to come try out their restaurant. I wanted to make sure they knew I was using the certificate so I told them in advance. They then inform me that I can't use it for the special menu, If I didn't use the coupon, I would have paid less when the bill came. I paid $10 for the coupon and I paid more for the meal than if I had gotten the special weekday menu price. Why did they bother to participate with this so called discount? Scam.
I see most of the bad reviews are from people who don't understand the concept. You DO NOT get to spend $5 on a $10 off coupon and then only spend $10, it doubles. Today I used a FREE $10 voucher and got a $10 off $20 coupon. Our meal came to $24 something so the bill came to $14 with tip it cost $20 total, Otherwise with tip it would have cost us $30, so we saved $10. Easy!
Only one (1) Restaurant- Specific Certificate may be redeemed per party, per month, per Issuer (even if the party is seated at separate tables and/or receives more than one check.)
I hope i could give negative:(
Even, does not apply on buffet. Useless...
Tried to use Restaurant.com certificates at several restaurants. Funny these establishments are not registered with them... SCAM ARTISTS! BBB will definitely hear about this. Can you say bye bye Restaurant.com
Thought this was a great idea but when I went to use it, I discovered you have to pay again for the discount. It's like paying an initial fee to join a discount club like Groupon for the privilege to buy coupons for the discount. Only Groupon is free to use.
I'm so unhappy I was tricked into buying three. I thought I'd give this to my adult kids to use as a gift. I ended up not telling them about it at all once I used it several times and found it only to be a pain. The bottom line is after paying for the certificate and then paying for a particular restaurant, you don't really save much at all.
I took my daughter out to dinner tonight for her birthday. The food was undercooked and now I'm crossing my fingers she doesn't get sick. I informed them of the problem and they didn't even remove the undercooked food from the buffet. I will never step foot into the CHINESE BUFFET in pineville again
Don't waste your time. They blow. This company takes advantage of local businesses. They get the businesses to agree to sell their food a 50% and then charge the customer to buy the coupons from restaurant.com. In the long run the customer pays 75 to 90 percent of regular price and the business receives 50% of regular price. I'd rather have that money go to my local businesses than Restauraunt.com.
All I can stay is that dealing with these idiots is the worst experience I have had regarding food since I got food poising for Subway, and that was only slightly worse.
I guessing that they stopped using phones numbers because of the horribly discussing peasant accents that they have...
Your money is better spent at Groupon or one of the other sites...
F-U Restaurants.com you are deserving of an IRS audit!
I got an email that you can get restaurant coupon each 25$ for only 3$ I bought 2 for my wife and I, When I Printed the coupons it said you need to pay 50$ to be able to use these coupons. I called them and they told me no refund. I am too mad. They are liar. DO NO TRUST THEM. DO NOT EVEN GO TO WWW.RESTAURANT.COM, they tell ao many lies to convince you buy one of their hell coupons.
Recd a "gift card" from local AAA for joining. Finally found a restaurant that took the card. Horrible, dark, smoked-filled dive lounge in Virginia Beach. (Bad reviews didn't show up on Restaurant.com's site--even after I put one in.) Didn't realize the card was really just a coupon for a buy-one, get-one--so wasted $$ purchasing "certificates" in advance that we couldn't use bc the place was terrible, and we were on vacation and wouldn't be returning to the area. Company deducted full price of item from card--not discount price listed. Complete scam. NO response from the company when I sent in multiple emails to complain and get resolution. Sent email to AAA to let them know of problems. Do NOT use this card. Confusing, dishonest, not as advertised.
Almost all of the restaurants have $50 minimum purchase requirements. Many are good restaurants but when you have already spent $10 and must spend $25 more before the tip, it is not really a saving. I bought several of these before I realized what was going on. When I did, I felt deceived and that I had wasted a lot of money. The only restaurant that was worth it was Opa's in Tucson. We ate our meals and then ordered another two to take along for the next day... in order to reach the $50 minimum. Opa's food is exceptional Greek cuisine and the atmosphere and service are truly old country style.
I bought a twenty five dollar certificate for 10 dollars. The ten dollars was charged to my credit card but the certificate was not put into my account. I e-mailed their customer service three weeks ago and received an auto reply that it might take 3 days for them to respond. Since I did not get a response I send an e-mail once again to customer service and received the same auto reply. There is no phone number for this company to talk with a live person. I have used their certificates many times and am normally happy with the company until now. Maybe they are going out of business. Be ware.
Bought 4 $25 gift certificates to a restaurant. With each one you must spend $50. I used 1 back in June 2015 and I had 3 left. My husband and I went on a date and well our bill was $30. We were going to order food and just take it to go to reach our limit about. Come to find out the restaurant cancelled the deal with restaurant.com and I called customer service. I was notified I was sent an email (I was not! I have emails from 2013 in my all mail folder) they said they would not refund me in my original payment but a credit to their $#*!ty website for another purchase. No thank you! Keep my damn money because I wouldn't use your website again! I give them a 1 but if I could I would give a 0.
Ok, where to start. When you look at their site, they sell gift certificates of $25 for $10. I had a voucher that I tried to use. Couldn't find how so I called them. Found out that I had to put in the voucher info first before shopping. Well! Guess what happens then? All the prices change to full value and you get screwed!
So stay away from these crooks! Find another way to waste your hard earned cash, just NOT HERE AT RESTAURANTS.COM -the rip off site of the USA!
First, I received a $100.00 Restaurant.com gift card from a client. I went online and located those restaurants participating in this program near me that looked good. I found one and they only had $25.00 gift card increments so I ordered 4 of them. But those 4 gift cards could not be combined for use in one visit. And even if you used them for 4 separate visits, they could not be redeemed more than one coupon per month.
Second, after several days of trying to get in touch with Restaurant.com, I was finally able to switch my 4 $25.00 gift cards into 1 gift card for $100.00. Then to find out that my GIFT required me to spend a minimum of $100.00 out of pocket to qualify to use the $100.00 coupon. Ended up spending $150.00 to redeem the $100.00 gift card for a total of $250.00.
Third, participating restaurants fall into 3 categories: Brand new, Old but slipping badly, and About to go out of business. My experience was the old but slipping establishment.
If you are seeking terrible food, negative surprises around every corner, and a souring relationship with whoever you give, or receive, one of these GIFTS from, go for it. But if you're normal, Domino's can be there in 30 minutes for a more pleasant experience.
I bought a 25.00 gift certificate and it says used in tge category, so I can't use it and have tried several times to get it resolved. However, nobody will respond to me.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
