I don't even know how anybody gets past step 1 on this site. Every single campsite for every single weekend 6 months in advance is always 100% reserved. Every single time I even try to check this stupid useless site, EVERYTHING is booked out. I know for a fact that people aren't always booking these sites, because I've gone walk-up camping and half the reserve sites are empty. These people need to just give up, and make all the sites they reserve walk-up, because the reserve thing ain't workin for nobody!
We were scheduled for 2 weeks in the Fl Key and they canceled the whole stay instead of just the 2 days the park was going to be closed for the storm. I called the park they told me to go back and re-book it, I tried our camp site and all of them for that matter were already taken. Ruined our whole vacation. It should be left up to the patron to cancel, we already knew we were going to have to forfeit the first few days of the trip but not the whole thing. THANK YOU RESERVE AMERICA FOR DESTROYING OUR VACATION! FLORIDA STATE PARKS NEED TO STOP USING THEM! Let people book online like city parks do instead of being charged all these ridiculous fees and being totally disappointed this trip has been booked and paid for for a year.
We reserved a camping site in a New Mexico State Park through ReserveAmerica. Their official policy under Cancellations and Changes states that "There is NO fee to change sites within the same park." When we arrived, we found our site was crammed like a sardine among trailers and RVs, so we asked the Campground Host if there were less crowded camping areas available. He said yes, but that we would have to cancel our ReserveAmerica site, pay their cancellation fees, and then pay the state park an additional $10 for a better site. He called ReserveAmerica "Destroy America" and said their policies don't apply to New Mexico parks, even though they accept ReserveAmerica reservations. The park ranger confirmed this. So we paid the cancellation fees plus the additional walk-in fee, ending up paying $37 for one night at a decent site. I think the "no Fee to change your site within the same park" policy is false and misleading.
I live in Southern California, 15 mins. From beach and try to pull off last minute deals. Get told sites are available, then they are not. Went to a special occasion at the beach where my family opted out due to other activities. Took my truck with a shell to sleep in instead of my RV. Was turned away because I didnt have an RV. Missed the airshow. Maybe I'm clueless, but I missed some small print about RVs only. Thanks Reserve California. And I love the $7.95 cancellation fees. Who is the one behind all of this making money? This site is a joke! It switches campsite reservations to nowhere near I try to reserve. Seriously, this system is broken and some government worker who is on charge of hiring Reserve America is in on it, guaranteed.
Happy camping and make sure to pay your taxes...
So - we are avid RV campers. We have been in 33 states camping and camp at least 28 weekends a year. We will avoid every single state and park that utilizes Reserve America. We had an accident and we're not able to keep our reservations at 2 Florida state parks. The charge was $24.95 for each cancellation! How is this reasonable or fair! This is more than the cost of one night! When I called to complain, the lady pretty much told me "too bad, it's or policy and you consent to paying that fee at reservation time. :)
I made a reservation for one night, but a huge storm with tornado warnings is supposed to come through that night. They wouldn't let me change my reservation and they didn't refund me a single penny... I thought I was supposed to get at least $17 dollars back. Guess not. This was a fantastic waste of $30.
Reserve America needs to hire people who know how the program works! I spent two hours on hold being transferred between people and ended up losing my reservation! Very frustrating!
My wife and I visit Lathrop State Park, Colorado each March... low season... we would have liked to pick a camp site we liked, but had to guess which spot we might like (after comparing a site map, a website showing site pictures, and the State Park website). It took 3 hours to book our site, and can make a change if we don't like the spot we chose, but at a cost of time and money. What a horrible website and booking method. I am very disappointed.
1 star is generous... wish a zero star was a choice.
I would give them 0 stars if I could. Just made a reservation less than 2 hours ago and I selected the days to be between 5/26-5/28/18. It popped up with what was available which was the Ramada Campground and I made the reservation. I get the confirmation email which was only stating for 1 day.
I call to see what was going on and they said it was just a day use and not an over-night camping and if I wanted to cancel it would be 2 separate charges of $7.99 and if I wanted to modify it, it would be $7.99.
Was told to call the campsite directly to see if they we're willing to help and I've called over 8 times and no one is answering and the voicemail doesn't even state a business name.
I've made reservations before with them, but obviously I NEVER will again. They are a bunch of crooks, not upfront and I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Several scammers are working to book all prime sites here in Florida and charging customers $23 per night for the "service". This violates ReserveAmerica rules, but they do NOTHING to prevent it.
How long do you think it will be before ReserveAmerica is rejected by the various States Park systems for deceptive practices?
We called in and changed our arrival date to Friday and they put into the computer the next day for the date. And they wont give us another site to stay in and we aren't enough of am emergency to qualify for their "emergency site" and we drove 4 hours to get here.
I booked 2 days at a sc state park for $81.00. I had to cancel 6 days before and was charged $42.00! The government has given Reserve America full power to screw the American people, what else is new!
I got rid of my RV about 10 years ago due to the problems caused by Reserve America's takeover of state park campground availability. I see that today's camping newbies are encountering the same problems. Unfortunately, the problems will continue because the campers aren't organized and thus have no influence over policy. There also are no warnings about it in the media.
After 2 hours on the phone with them simply reserving a campsite, they lost my reservation in the ridiculously long process. Then rented it out from under me trying to recover it and had no other options available. I basically wasted 2 hours of my life for nothing.
Wisconsin state campgrounds require you to go through reserve America to book a campsite. The site was $18, and Reserve America charged an additional $9.65 fee for booking through their site. That is outrageous! This company has made a program that may have cost $30k to build, but then sits back and collects that ridiculous fee every day at every site in the state of WI park system. Reserve America is in bed with our politicians and we are literally paying for it. If the point of having an online system was to lower the park's operating expenses, why didn't they buy the program? It's because it wouldn't allow these scum bags to take from you. I will no longer do business with facilities that use this company. There are plenty of county campgrounds that don't charge for booking. Even if they come out to the same amount of money from my pocket, at least it's going to the park system and not these crooks. Shame on you Reserve America.
It's really weird that a private company took over the whole Federal and State Park System's reservation. That was a great deal for them, someone made huge bucks to make that happen. How is that a private company can charge any amount they want for people who want to make a reservation in parks which are already managed by State or Federal Tax dollars? They can also charge if you update or cancel your reservation as they please. The fees are very high - $8/ reservation or $10 to change? How did this happen? How did they got this good deal? I am going to create a good reservation system, which would take a bit of work to program... can I take over? Nowadays fees are usually paid by the business and not the consumer. Not in this case. Since the prices of the parks are keep going up, and in many cases you pay $60-$75/night for an RV site in California, which is already more expensive than some motels, can't the government just create an online system which would not add additional fees? The most ridiculous thing is that they still sell out and booked all summer. There is no reason for them to change this.
I was assigned a disabled campsite at Mt Tamalpais Steep Ravine I had not requested as I am not disabled. My reservation included instructions for disabled discount I assumed did not apply as I am not disabled and had not requested such. I was there two days talked to camp host and pleasant ranger asked if I needed to do anything answer: no. A friend arrived to join me another nasty ranger said we had to leave that minute because we were not disabled at 8:30 p.m. The website is confusing I received no warning or alert DISABLED ONLY my only vacation of the year was ruined. It is unconscionable the state turns over such a precious resource to a private service whose communication totally sucks. The ranger told us he kicks out 50 people a year for not being disabled... that tells you something about the website language and the incompetence of this company. I am receiving no refund, no disabled person stayed there during my reserved time and the only one who wins is ReserveAmerica. Absolutely worst company ever.
Overall, booking with Reserve America has been pleasant. I recently booked a trip online and cancelled within 24 HOURS of the booking. Also, the dates that we are travelling is 3 months out. I was still charged $10 just to cancel. I find it LUDICROUS that I would owe $10 to hold a spot in their system for less than 24 hours.
I will use FAR BETTER JUDGMENT prior to booking with them again. It's very shameful that their cancellation guidelines are written like that.
This is The Worst website to try to reserve camp spots!!!!!
Answer: No site says 7$ but it's actually whatever they want to charge mine was 15$. And when you ask about it they just hang up on you.
