Terrible customer service
September 5, 2022

The campgrounds were very nice and clean. Reserve America was a total disappointment. I called Friday morning because my power pole was not working. The Resrve America lady that answered seemed uninterested and said someone would come fix the issue but no one came. I approached maintenance the next day and they were never given the information from Reserve America. Campground staff was excellent. The one star rating is for Reseeve America, please hire people who care!

Fees have increased (what, they have a computer and one guy working it!), and the ability to change FOR FREE has been removed, and now you pay for any changes. What a scam. Will try in every way possible to avoid this group. Used to be you could change a site or date with no cost, which was very useful. Now your stuck with whatever you reserved from the start.

Don't use them!
August 4, 2022

We had to cancel two reserved sites days ahead of the scheduled date. They charged us 2/3's (only $25 of a $70 charge) of the total amount for a 2 day reservation. Buyer beware. If you use this site to get a campsite you better hope that your plans don't change.

Refund policy is draconian
July 18, 2022

I made a reservation less than 2 weeks out for an already very booked location for 2 nights. We had a change in plans and had to cancel 7 days out. We ended up paying nearly $80 in cancellation fees. Per their published cancellation policy, they say, that you have to pay a $7.25 processing fee. I had to pay $17.50. They also say that you also forfeit the fee for first night's fee because we cancelled with less than 8 days. The sad part about the cancellation policy is that it is not published very clearly in the booking menu.

I will not book at a park managed by Reserve America again. I will go with parks that have a real human being that you can work with. We would have preferred changing the dates, but because there really isn't an option for us like coming back next year, we were forced to eat pretty much 75% of the fee knowing full well they will be able to book this last spot with no problem.

Most parks would give you the option to a full refund minus processing fees if they can book the spot.

Feel like a number. Reserve America sucks!

Experience with CT state park. Reservation fee is $9 and force me to take at least two nights. After reservation I am not able to change the dates if that site is not available for new dates (their web site will not allow me to change the dates and site). For cancellation I had to pay another $9 but they end up charging $18 and on enquiry there is non refundable $9 fee for non refundable reservation fee! I will try to avoid it and will research other ways... I rarely see any state park completly full, woundering if I can call them directly on the day of stay and pay on the window to avoid these fees.
Not sure I want to call this site a scam but they do not disclose all the fees. Question is why most of the state parks contract with them? State park hace their own systems and staff they not remove the middle man.

I would never use Reserve America to reserve anything in the future. I tried to cancel a reservation, but I didn't know that canceling was as much as the total cost. It ruin my vacation and I'll never use them, ever again.

What happened! It looks like you moved to new software that absolutely stinks... It can't find campgrounds and it doesn't give any options to delineate how to look for them. I'd get your money back as this is a god awful mess.

We are on a 5 month trip covering the western US and have had two reservations on Reserve America where we entered all of our current information as far as site requirements and both times have been very disappointed and not been able to access the sites. The no refund policy is worse than anything we have dealt with and they are impossible to get in touch with. We will not be using reserve America in the future

Been to two state parks in NY for 2021 ( Rollins Pond and Buck Pond in northern NY) and thought our reservations were quite early in the season. As we attempted to locate multiple sites we noticed how booked the campsites were. During both of our trips that campsites were more than 50% empty with very few filling in the following night. Now it was nice having less traffic, it wasn't nice seeing sites get "booked" and continue to be vacant for that time. Others have also noticed this trend of "Booked" but Vacant sites. What is going on and who is responsible and what is Reserve America doing about it? Do we call Reserve America to confirm a site was "booked" or the Camp ground we plan to visit?

Such a scam. I purchased parking passes, with no date. After you make the purchase, they tell you it's only good for that day. Then you're suppose to be able to change it but NO, you can't do that, it's GA parks policy. They don't answer their texts or phones. The chat was worthless, somehow they couldn't find my order but took my money. I had an order number but the chat contact said they just couldn't find it and there was nothing they could do. I know I'm responsible and need to look at reviews for ALL my online purchases from now on.

My objective for writing this review is to notify owners/managers how pathetic this reservation system functions. My hope is to see this service revamped to make it more user friendly and provide accessibility to patrons needing help because this system is not working properly.

Further, you prevent friendly interaction with customers by purposely not posting your telephone number (1) On your reservation site, (2) On customer reservation details receipts which I printed out, and (3) Nor do you offer webpage screen chat or shared screen help which could resolve many reservation issues. Therefore, I had to do a google search to find a telephone number for this business. Even after finding the number *******267, I determined there was no physical person or message service to answer this phone. After ringing for a while, the number I called disconnects from me. Not once, but twice.

Do I need to tell you. This is no way to run a business. In addition, you are charging $12.00 per customer for making reservations on your website and/or via telephone. As a result, you are making a lot of money since the only way patrons can make reservations is through your website which is a disservice to all patrons, residents, visitors, military and state park pass holders.

In addition. I paid $225.00 for my non-resident state park pass, and because your system is not designed to acknowledge my type of pass other than "normal" because I am not military, a resident, or day user. As a result, I was charged $82.00 for a 5-day stay ($70.00 for camping fee, plus $12.00 for reservation fee.) Similar New Mexico State Parks only charged $4.00 per night for utilities (i. E. water, sewage and electric which is $60.00. However, your site is charging $70.00 for water and electric, only.) You owe me a refund!

The only positive experience I had with attempting to make a New Mexico State Park Reservation was when your site would not let me book a nine-day stay at Rock Hound State Park, although Site #4 was available. I was on hold from 45-minutes before a female answered and apologized for my long wait, stating, "She was the only person work at that time." In addition, I did not print off my Rock Hound reservation receipt. Upon writing this review, when I went back to retrieve it the receipt was no longer in my past reservation account.

This may very well be the worst website on the Internet. It never improves. Obviously they never test it because nothing on it works properly. It is extremely difficult to understand and for some bizarre reason, Nebraska State Recreation areas force customers to use it. Every time I have to use it I am ready to pull my hair out. The maps make little sense if they even exist. The buttons don't work. The help feature offers no particular useful advice. We have given up multiple camping trips simply because it was impossible to use this site. Aggravating, infuriating, and why? Fix the site!

It was a waste of time to try to cancel a reservation or change it. Reserve America makes finding a contact number really difficult. Not at all worth it. I will not camp in a Florida state forest site because these jokers are worthless. Find a private place to camp. Avoid reserve America like the plague.

I booked a campground site, not realizing that Florida State parks uses ReserveAmerica for payment instead of simply charging customers directly. A month later I was charged $90 for a membership to a junky discount website called Active Advantage. They automatically had my card information, though I never registered any information with this website. I had to call the bank and get a new card so they cannot "renew" my membership or charge me further surprise fees. Tricking people into signing up for useless memberships when they are booking family activities? Wow. I would expect so much more from Florida Parks.

Reserve america sucks. 11 months out you have to be kidding me. As a florida resident I can't get anywhere close to my state parks. They are always booked solid. And when I do get a site all the sites that were reserved were empty. And the ones that are full are always people from out of state. I understand florida is a tourist destination but I think I should get first shot as a resident. Reserve america has ruined camping. Along with the facebook groups that use reserve america to trade sites and to give them to people on the fb groups. I hate it and I want the old way back.

Beware if you cancel, they do not honor their own stated refund policy. First they will make you wait 3 months for a refund by check then you will find yourself calling them several times to track down the check that they finally supposedly mailed but you never receive.

Ripoff at its Best!
March 1, 2021

Making, or should i say TRYING to make a reservation at their site is a big joke.
1st of all... one day they will show 'unavailability'... which means it is unavailable to reserve... the very next day... it will show 'R' for reserved for 2 weeks after that date?
The 'window' to reserve is very very narrow... so much... i believe there is someone out there selling a SNIPING program. Further investigation by the State Department is warranted.

Would not recommend
February 8, 2021

Had to cancel a 2 sites I booked for myself and father. Originally booked with a gift card that no longer had, requested a check to be mailed the representative told me it would. I waited about 6 weeks and never received a refund, after many calls saying the issue was escalated about 6 months later they told me it was refunded to the card and they could not provide me a card number. I told them it was a gift card I no longer had the representative read me the note that had that in there, refused to offer another site or refund my money another way, Very poor customer service I got had on that one. The crappy thing is. It was a campground I really like and that is there booking tool but I refuse to give them anymore of my money due to the way they treated me on the phone. Reserve America does not have the customer in mind and are just plain rude.
