Rent-A-Center

They came out today to pickup a washer and dryer. I had them scheduled to come between 12PM and 3PM. They showed up at 1045AM when I was not home. My son was home and said they backed in, and when he came to the door to let them in, they were leaving@ They did not knock or leave a note or anything. I called the district manager, and she said that they misunderstood the time and they would be back out after 12PM. They did show back up and took their merchandise. However, when I arrived home, I noticed that the roof over my carport was completely ripped off in the corner! There is a hole., and the drainage pipe was pulled off and ripped in half! They caused thousands of dollars in damage! And the best part? The guys who showed up the 1st time, decided that since they hit the roof they would leave and not say anything@ They thought no one was home so they would get away with it. Luckily, someone was home, saw them back in near the carport, and leave with a vengeance. I am livid that they would just leave! I called the district manager and she said she would put in a claim with their insurance. No apology, no nothing. I dont know if she did contact the insurance, I have no proof she did. I do have proof that the roof was fine the day before, (I have time stamped pictures of my front yard that shows the entire roof of the carport) I was taking pictures of my yard. This is UNACCEPTABLE! I do not own my home, and the landlord is going to be so mad. I am afraid that she will evict me because of this. They dont seem to really even care. And the district manager then says, the 1st guys who came out were from another store, that is out of her area. Basically, not taking responsibility as a district manager! To me, it is ALL RAC, I don't care WHAT store, or WHO came first! All I do know is that they caused several thousand in property damage, and they wont take responsibility for it. This, and them telling my family that I will be arrested if I don't call them to return the items! Sorry, but that is illegal for creditors to release information such as that, AND it is a civil matter (not a police matter). Besides the fact that I spent weeks in the hospital which is why I did not immediately reach back out. But I returned the items, and this is how they say thanks I guess. UNREAL

The Rent-A-Center at 179 market Street in Paterson., Are short-handed on workers. But the young man and lady that worked at worked hard on satisfying me as a customer even through many unanticipated problems they still delivered the product to me as promised. I went from thinking I was not going to be satisfied on receiving my purchase to very satisfied due to these two workers persistent attitude of satisfying the customer. I feel like all them at least to mention them in this message.

The Valley store is amazing. Jason and his team go over and beyond to help the costumers. The are very professional and friendly. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Cheap furniture. Lazy employees. Weak management. All around $#*! show. Stay away at all costs. Spend your money at a real store.

I HAD CHANTEL OWENS SHOW UP FIRST AT MY NEIGHNORS HOUSE THE OTHER DAY BANGING ON THEIR DOOR SO HARD THEY WERE SCARED TO EVEN ANSWER IT. THEN AFTER SHE SAT AND BANGED ON MY NEIGHBORS DOOR FOR ABOUT 5 MINUETS THEY ANSWERED. CHANTEL PUSHED HER WAY INTO MY NEIGHBORS HOME LOOKING AROUND THEIR HOUSE SAYING SHE KNEW I WAS IN THE HOME. MY NEIGHBOR SENT THEM TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS AND WHEN SHE CAME TO MY DOOR SHE BANGED SO HARD MULTIPULE TIMES. I WAS IN THE RESTROOM ONLY MY 5 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE LIVING ROOM. SHE BANGED ON MY DOOR FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUETS STRAIGHT SO HARD THAT MY FRONT DOOR BECAME ADJAR AND MY 5 YEAR OLD WAS CRYING AND SCREAMING SO SCARED THAT SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO BREAK INTO OUR HOME. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED EVEN AFTER I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH SOMEONE IN THE STORE ALREADY AND HAD REVIEWED THE PAYMENT PLAN. I HAD JUST GOTTEN BACK INTO TOWN AND MISSED TWO PHONE CALLS OVER THE WEEKEND! BECAUSE OF HER I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND RAC TO ANYONE. WHAT SHE DID IS ILLEGAL AND SO UNPROFESSIONAL! DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM RENTACENTER UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE CHANTEL COME TRYING TO BREAK DOWN YOUR FRONT DOOR AND SCARE YOUR CHILDREN AND SEARCH YOUR NEIGHBORS HOUSE FOR YOU LIKE THEY ARE THE FBI. SHE IS DISGUSTING AND RUDE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE A JOB AT A PLACE LIKE THIS.

I've had the worst experience with rent a center my father started renting from rent a center he then went on medical leave from his job due to cancer & he was trying to get short term disability! I simply called rent a center explained what was going on, and I said I'll pay what I can, as his daughter I have bills of my own & children, I simply could pay what I could when I could, they simple harrassed us for weeks, and weeks about getting there items back which was a TV & a couch, & a Nintendo switch, & my fathers phone, & the manager at the gallatin Tn location is absolutely the most rudest manger I have ever met, my father has never missed a payment til he started to get worse. I tried my damn hardest to work & help pay his payments. & i have my own health problems, so I'm very limited to what I can and can't do at work & how many hours I can work! I personally would never rent from them again, it's absolutely ridiculous on how they treat there customers! I give my experience from them 1 out of 5 stars!

People are always going to complain about Rent-A-Center and their pricing. I agree if you go over the 4 or 6 months same as cash option you are completely being robbed. As an employee, I bust my butt for this company only to put a roof over my child's head and food on the table. This job consumes all of your time, you have zero family life. The pay has recently went up but now that it's raise time they have informed us we are overpaid... hahaha. So we do not get one this year. Rent-A-Center is a very grimy company, if you can't treat your employees with respect and take care of them, why would any of us leave you a good review. Many days you don't get a lunch break when you are out delivering on the road because the lazy office workers slam to many deliveries into one day buy hey... u will be docked for your lunch (so illegal). I would not tell anybody to go there to rent unless your paying off quickly and I definitely woukd not suggest working there unless your single with no children. $16.50/hr in NY to bust your asses, deal with cockroaches, bedbugs and whatever else you may walk into (one of the dirtiest jobs ever) and jeopardize bringing bugs into your own home daily just to to be treated like $#*!. NOT COOL RAC... LEARN HOW TO TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES!

Rent a center in pa ripped me off 160.00 Dollar's and it's been four months this day I've been fighting to get my money and when I call Steve can't talk to me he's busy or he's not there this is really sad how they screw people over will never deal with pa rent a center again I bought a TV off of them and they even took my last payment n they said they stopped it because they we're going to take that money and put on the TV and credit me the rest and still nothing

The manager in Johnson City, Tn. Is very unprofessional. Cussing from his office when my husband went down there. While he was in store he was fine but when my husband came in without him knowing was back there cussing. Would never rent from him. He wants to say he will call the police. To me very unprofessional. With all the bad reviews he has I just wonder how he still has a job.

They never on time or don't do they job. Like how do I supposed to lean then. Guess she got another person.

My daughter went online n ordered a bedroom set went pickup was giving me a different set because that's the only one they had in store n wasn't gonna say anything until my son notice a piece was missing talk to my daughter she didn't want he says let her put up once done she'll like two days later call n told him come pickup he said they were short staff it took a few days to pickup now he's holding that against her for renting a tv from them. Tried reaching to his DM no reply call the home office it's a automated machine. And with that he told me to take my business to Affordable what store mgr. Says stuff like that. He's so unfriendly, rude, disrespectful and more. I'll make sure anyone I know doesn't rent from this store. It's more to the story but too much typing for me just know they'll never have to worry about me again n if I can help it no one I know if I hear RENTACENTER I'll tell them RUN N GO YO AFFORDABLE AS THE MANAGER DANIEL TOLD ME!

My experience with rent-a-center located in Atmore, Alabama was one of my greatest experiences. Great customer service and punctual delivery.

I had been looking for a coffee table and end tables for our guest home. I went to several different place and I didn't find any that I like. I had one more stop to make but I saw the Rent a Center store and thought well I check to see if they have something. The salesman I dealt with was Garrett. I told him what I was looking for and and he said he had 2 different sets. He showed me the sets. I explained that I had one more store I was going check and it was on my home (30 miles). There was one set that I liked but was not the exact color I was wanting. I asked him if I purchased it could I have a refund if the other store has what I wanted. He said "Let me check" He went into the back office and then came back to counter and said "Yes, I can do that." I purchased the item and he loaded it in my truck. I went to the other store and found the tables that I wanted. I drove back to the Rent a Center to get a refund on my credit card. Garrett was at lunch so I spoke with the Assistant Manager Jason. He told me they do not give refunds. (This item was brand new in the box. Had not been touched by anyone but Garrett in two hours). I explained to him what happened with Garrett and again he told be they do not give refunds but I could wait on Garrett to come back from lunch and discuss it with him. I waited for over 30 minutes. When Garrett arrived Jason had discussed this with him. When I approached Garrett and told him I needed my refund he said they did not give refunds. He lied! Of course I became angry because I spoke my mind. I told him and Jason to look at their cameras and they could see that Garrett lied. He told me I could call the 1-800 number and file a complaint. I left the store very angry. I was on hold for 47 minutes. I spoke with a young lady and explained everything that happened. She said she would send the complaint to the district manager and he would call me within 48 hours. That was 4 days ago. I have heard nothing. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have absolutely no integrity. They lie just to get a sale. The worst service I have ever experienced with a company.

I like many consumers like nice things but, can't afford to buy them straight out. So we turn to places like Rent a Center. These people get trained and paid to be dishonest and untrust worthy. They encourage sales only to harrass and extort their customers until they get there items back. They have never actually gave or done anything for my community, but take. And their Corporate offices promote these practices by playing deaf and dumb when you call them out and provide proof. Before my mother passed she was renting an brand new living room set from Rent Way. They really cared about there customers because they wrote that furniture off for her just to show appreciation for being an loyal customer. Thier competition was 3-4 doors away and it was RAC. Rent Way was forced out of business. Because tthere is no place for compassion when vultures are hovering. What's even more sadder about today is it's legal for places like RAC to strong arm consumers. Put brand new prices on dirty furniture, over charge triple on all very used items let you almost pay it off and work to get it back before you do. Their stores stay over stocked with the same furniture that the whole city has rented at least once and they still rent it to consumers on an 2 year agreement or more. Places like RAC have been around an long time and they become greedier and greedier by the second. They prosper off being liars, cheats, and thieves. From my personal experience RAC should be catagorized as an second hand casino. Because every time you deal with them, you are taking a gamble. God for bid you lose an job, limb, or anything of that nature. Because if you don't pay they will come to that same job you lost to pick up their money or merchandise while your picking up your last check. And if it's an limb? They'll come and harass you during surgery. They need to be audited more because I know that all the money they steal is not getting reported.

Customer service is very poor! Proper idiots they are. I had purchase a lap top there and only had $200 reminding when I went to leave my weekly payment of $79, and the rep did not mention how if I did not pay those $200 before my next due date and additional $400 will be added to the $200. Needless to say I asked why they failed to tell me this and the response I got was "oh we told you when you first took the lap-top home" OH! And they signed me up for some medical plan which by the way I did not know I was paying! So I OVER paid them $400 for a lap-top that was only worth $600 :( sad and to think I never missed a payment! Oh well just a word of advice get your electronic devices elsewhere this place is a total rip off!

Years ago I moved into a new home. I was looking for nice furniture that I could afford while making house payments. I looked in many furniture stores for something unique and different. I did not have much luck since I was looking for something that would be durable but with darker colors. One day I was going to a dry cleaner and next store was a Rent A Center. I decided to just take a stroll and see what they had. Since I have never rented to own furniture I was a little skeptical. After going in I was surprised to find something I really liked. I found a black sofa, chair and love seat that had such a pretty pattern. It was like sprays of paint in multi colors. The set also had these really cool glass tables with stone bases. I also loved the lamps that where black poles that went up and over the sofa with 5 globe bulbs that fanned out over the furniture. This set was very different and was really neat. I talked it over with my boyfriend because I was not real keen on the idea of paying interest to rent to own. We both decided to do the transaction because I really wanted the set. Well let me say that I was happy at first until the sofa that I was paying so much for was starting to sag. I had the set for less than 1 year and the cushions where so messed up it was like sitting on a marshmallow. I had to keep turning them over to try and make the sagging not appear so much. I also was sorry I bought the tables because they never stayed clean. I had to dust them everyday. I did like them but they where a pain. I called the store and told them about the furniture falling apart. They did nothing and I was bound to a contract. Either make the payments or the furniture gets taken. Since I was so upset I went to the store to talk to manager there and advised him of what was going on. He never did anything to fix replace or repair the flabby furniture. I wound up paying it off. And then giving it away. I will never buy anything from these scam artist again. In the end I wound up paying almost double for furniture only because I liked the look. Well looks can be very deceiving. Remember this my friends. The sweetest candy can be rotten on the inside. These types of company's prey on people who can't afford to buy lavish furniture promising to back there products. What a big joke. I like the design of the furniture but if I knew it was put together with elmer's glue and cotton balls, I would have made it myself. I would have been better of with bean bag chairs at least they are meant to sag. I hope this helps anyone who may consider using fraud furniture stores.
