I have used them faithfully & have to fight to get my cash back by filing inquiries & submitting invoices / documents providing my shopping trips. Stores (many) don't report the purchases THEN ebates credits much less than what entitled too. Example purchase was 5% cash back & ebates gave me 1.00 on a 99.99 purchase. Hmmm basic math

Ebates takes referrals away if its a family member even a cousin who lives with you. Then they will block you out of your account!

Do NOT refer people & only use if you like to continually argue then prove yourself to get paid what they promise!

I love this site so much! All you do is go the ebates website or app and click on the department store or boutique you want to shop from and your redirected to that site to shop. Ebates logs your visit from them and depending on how much the percentage is store gives back, you get that money credited to your account and receive an actual check delivered quarterly. I usually get about $20-$30 back but I did refer a friend and got a $25 credit this check so I received a $65 check. It's not a huge amount of money, but why not get money back for shopping you're already spending your money on? They have over 2,000 stores that participate in the program and have started giving cash back for in store purchases. I haven't used this feature yet because I don't like storing my debit card on a bunch of sites. But I may end up trying it eventually. You can get a $10 bonus when signing up through an invite. I've tried a lot of different cashback services over the years and am now switching almost entirely to ebates. They may not always have the highest cashback %, but the customer service is awesome and I know that I will reliably get the promised cashback amount. After being burned by many other websites with lots of fine print, I'd rather reliably get the cashback % from ebates than take a gamble for a few % points more from somewhere else.

The only reason I will shop somewhere other than ebates is for a select few retailers that ebates doesn't offer any cashback. Otherwise for me, it's ebates all the way!

A few things to consider: 1) If you use a promo code that isn't listed on ebates, then your cashback isn't guaranteed (sometimes it will work, but don't count on it). This seems pretty reasonable and straightforward to me, so don't complain to Ebates if you don't get cashback on an order with a coupon code that they didn't list.

2) Ebates is one of the few websites that does generally give cashback when you redeem a gift card. This is great for people like me who don't live near their immediate family and inevitably wind up with a lot of gift cards after the holidays.

3) For those of you that have said ebates deactivates accounts that are owed high cashback payouts, I have not had that experience at all. I've used ebates for years and accrued a lot of $ in cashback because I do almost all of my shopping online, I've never had any issues with ebates paying me back. It really does seem too good to be true when I look at my cashback totals over the past few years, but ebates reliably deposits my cashback into my paypal account every time. Even though I never remember to send my actual ebates referral link to friends, I have recommended it often through word of mouth and will continue to do so - if you don't already have ebates, definitely give it a try!

If they owe you a substantial amount they will not pay, when you call them about it they will say how sorry they are and promise payment within 5 business days and before that's up they will terminate your membership/account. After they did this to me for $983.49 I called the company Ebags, whom we do the majority of our business with, to inform them what I thought about ebates. They said they paid ebates and ebates should have paid me. Ebates just stole the rebate money and basically bullied us out of payment.

I bought two books both of which the sellers refused to ship internationally. Instead of issuing refunds they happily put my money in "My Wallet" and charged my credit card. The sellers said they were following PriceMinister guidelines and wanted to ship the books by registered mail at 21 euros a book. There is both a 4 euro rate and a 10 euro rate for international book shipping. I had bought books from the past but never again.

When it came time for them to pay out, I received nothing. Attempts to contact Ebates customer service to find out where my check is turned out to be fruitless. I also wanted to ask them about the drastic increase in spam which coincides with my signup date. But without any customer support, all these disturbing issues go unanswered. Based on my experience I believe ebates is, at best, poorly run. At worst, it's an outright phishing scam.

I get emails constantly from ebates requesting that I purchase through their site. So I did use the site on Sunday morning to spend almost $500. For that I managed to "save" about $11.00. Not great but something. Then a few hours later I get not 1 but 2 emails touting a 15% rebate at the same store that I went to thanks to the "ebates Birthday celebration" It said starts today- but no time which the rebate started- of course they couldn't email before it started so in the end I lost out on about $55 in rebates. Even better is the customer service person saying oh well nothing I can do about it. But since then I have gotten 4 more emails to promote this special. It would have been useful to mention it before the big special.

In my opinion, ebates really doesn't care about the customers because they are counting on volume and don't really need to worry about satisfaction. Use another site- ebates doesn't deserve your business! They told me to cancel my order and then reorder if I was that worried about it!

I had used ebates for a few years and did get back a bit more than $200 over the years. However, now, they have been holding the same $4.20 or so for over a year because, one, they changed their rules and you must buy enough eligible stuff to bring your total up to a certain amount before they will issue you that check! And two, so many merchants I used to buy from through Ebates left the program so it's not worth my time anymore. It takes forever to try and find a business I DO shop that is also on the Ebates list!

I have spread the word to all my friends on Facebook and now am posting my review in various places.

Like I said in my title... eBates used to be great, but not anymore. Waste of time unless you shop constantly! But who can afford to do that nowadays!
