Public Storage's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to steep and frequent price increases, inadequate customer service, and poor management responsiveness. Many customers report feeling neglected, with unresolved issues regarding billing and unit security leading to frustration. While some locations receive praise for their cleanliness and helpful staff, these positive experiences appear inconsistent. Overall, the feedback suggests a troubling trend of unprofessional practices and a lack of accountability, prompting customers to caution others about their experiences and consider alternative storage options.

I have been a customer for 5 years. That does not count for anything if you fall on hard times. I was living in a hotel because I had no where else to go. I had churches helping but only for so long. I am going to be put out on the street. I am 64 and disabled. Public Storage would not let me make smaller payments on the back rent. My mom's things are going to be sold on the 26th of September. I will have nothing left of her except memories. Public Storage customer service told me the process could not be stopped and it was out of their hands. They would not tell me whose hands it was in. Is this customer Service?,

Mahesh is the best... He always give me a excellent customer service very helpful I will recommend this storage to everyone
What a deal! My first month was $1. Oh Boy! Here I am 18 months out at a rate of $220 per month, I was notified starting next month the rent will be $270! You do the math. Their bait and switch pricing and steady increases clearly tell me they don't want me as a customer... or, they think they have me for life. I refuse to wait around until the next increase, in approximately 4-5 months based on history. Not waiting around until next month... I am gone... just in time for them to screw someone else.
The representative that worked today was very helpful. She helped us find the best size unit and price for my budget. I appreciate her assistance. She was very polite.
Moved from Mississippi to Ocala FL. Had to get 2 storage units. Only had the units for 4 months!
First there lock didn't work still paid for one plus added my own! Then go to get things out of the unit. There is a horrible smell Cat PISS! Which we have never owned a Cat! All of our clothes are in closed containers! All of my husbands and mine along with our daughters clothes smelt like the cat urine. Along with roaches everywhere which I do have pictures of!
Then today going to make my last payment so I can get our belongings out well the small stuff! And not to mention Im in the account but I get told that I can't get out stuff after Iv paid my husband has to … I. Always been able yo but since his name is on the account First guess he has to (well he's at work). After Iv drove 30 minutes to be told all this plus the cut our lock! Not to mention I paid for one of there locks that never worked! But can cut ours! After I left today I get a call that they have talked to the district manager and I can get my stuff out but I need to bring another LOCK!
Im ver very displeased with they way they like to talk yo there customers to the way they handle business! Along with they aren't even bothered that my clothes smell like cat urine or Iv had to pray everything bc of the roaches as well! Just a nasty place I wouldn't advise anyone to get a unit from them!
I bought a unit at auction Public Storage. The entire unit is infested with cockroaches. My concern is the fact they are going to scatter to other units. So I advised the office personnel. They contacted a manager. They advised me to clean it out. Then they would bomb it. WTF? ANYONE WANT A FREE UNIT WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF ROACHES.
I was very impressed with Kelsie when I found her and she was so helpful. I went there on the 19th and no one was there but I managed to set up what I wanted online for a move in on the next day. I found my storage unit but there was a hold on it to show it had been rented and I did not see anyone. I called and left a message and we cut the tie and found the lock inside. A few minutes later I saw Kelsie and told her to ignore my message but I had a few questions. She took time to answer my questions and help me figure out how to do what I needed. She was friendly also, which made me feel comfortable and I am grateful for all she did! I have used Public Storage for years in different locations but this is my first time in Simi Valley. I would highly recommend it!
I would never recommend this place. I was a first time customer that was given incorrect information from one of the employees about being able to receive a prorated refund if I vacate early. I never used the building it was the 4th of the month when I called to see if I could get a prorated refund due to not needing the building. I told the EE I did not want to vacate if there is no type of refund. I would just figure out something to use it for. She assured me that I would get a prorated refund. When I spoke to customer service several times, they advised I could not get any refund due to it being pass 24 hours. This was escalated and still a no. It was like the reps did not care that over $200 was lost out my pocket into the companies. This company has nothing in place for customers that run into certain situations that they provide any type of positive outcome. Never Again!
I put a hold on a unit on the Public Storage website, then tried to cancel online when I calculated the unit may be too small. I went to the facility (2401 BQE, Woodside Queens) to cancel in person. Ofir, the manager, offered to help me find and secure a unit that would better suit my needs - and helped me sort out the fees + pro rated charges that made no sense on the website. Everything worked out. Person to Person service, thanks to Ofir, sure beats an app.
The location at 289 W Lafayette Rd St Paul, MN used to be storage 365. I was overseas 10 months and during that time, they changed. There is no one that works in the building and both calling and chats were very unhelpful. Will be looking for storage elsewhere.
This place is a rip off. Rented a unit for 8 months and when I went to pick up my storage items, I found I had a break in. The ceiling was laying on my stuff and all my tools, stereo equipment and misc. Was gone. Lucky for me I bought their insurance. Wrong! Insurance through their "orange door" insurance company has done nothing and avoids calls. In my opinion both the storage unit and their insurance company are useless and running a scam. Stay away.

Hello Public Storage you have a Property Manger at 1865 Savoy Drive who goes out the way for his customer. He is Manager material.
I just got hit with a 25% increase in my monthly rent after several years with normal adjustments. This is blatant price gouging. They do not have significant impact from inflation as
1) they have few employees
2) Utility rates are regulated
3) their facilities have been built for years, so mortgage rate increases are inconsequential
4) my particular facility is half empty, so claims of a decreased supply of units in my area is a lie.
Terrible company. Find somewhere else to store your belongings. I am.
LaKeitha was great at the location on Hampton Road. She was very friendly and very helpful. Thank you for such great services.
1. Monthly Unit Rent INCREASED from $278 to $376. January 5,2022. Annual Rent Increase has historically been in April. Rent History: April 2018- $195.80; April 2019- $213; April 2020- $224; April 2021- $278; January 2022- $376.
2. On May 10,2022 Site Manager Jan Called and Left Voice Message, after my Complaint / Review, stating that she "put in for a cancellation of the rent increase" and requested that I call her "so we can fix it". I returned her call and was told that my Unit Rent SHOULD NOT have been increased. Manager LIED and said that she spoke with me in March and INFORMED ME of the mistake. We NEVER SPOKE.
3. She attempted to coerce me to REMOVE COMPLAINT / REVIEW before Unit Rent would be reduced. Said "she's in trouble with her DM" because of the Review. Further stated that her DM would contact me to Assure Rent Reduction ONLY IF and AFTER I REMOVE COMPLAINT/ REVIEW. I asked for REFUND of OVERCHARGE and was told that she would not.
4. My Monthly UNIT RENT of $376 has not changed.
I rent a space at Public Storage and they went up on my rent - a lot. Terrell in customer service checked and he got the rate reduced. During these tough times, I appreciated his professionalism and prompt assistance. Very kind and polite. Public Storage has always been a great place and everyone has been so nice and supportive during the move and the unexpected long term storage situation.
Public Storage has been a terrible experience from start to finish. We were desperate and they were the only option. We got trapped inside the yard after hours, the gate would not open. I called the after hours phone number and it just ran me in a circle. I eventually had to hop the fence and enter my code from the outside. We vacated on the first day of the month because we were dealing with a Military logistics company. Public Storage charged me for the entire month. Also, on move out day we had to wait at the complex for 4 hours with the movers. Apparently, Public Storage didn't trust them there alone even though they are a a reputable company. The foreman of the crew told me that's the first time in his career he's heard that. The front desk staff was pleasant, no complaints with them. If you can avoid this company i recommend you do.
I received great customer service at the Rockaway Avenue location. I was helped by Jada and she was very thorough and very helpful.
Please do not get a storage at Public Storage they do not have they people I've been with Public Storage going on for years haven't missed no payments paid on time husband landed up in the hospital could not pay no more they tried to take all my stuff from me I got my stuff paid and they refused to leave the gate open late so I can get my stuff so all along they was trying to hurt me instead of helping me please do not put no more money into public storage we need to start putting signs up and to tell people how Public Storage treat their customers very bad in Indianapolis
Answer: They will find a way to charge you for anything. And they will charge fees in which they will take you to collections for. They are a really greedy company
Answer: No, and they will charge you for a spec of dirt left.
Answer: Just post a review on Google Maps andwrite a review about your experience at any business
Answer: The longer you stay the more you pay period. Depends on how much value they put on a hot active size rental.
