The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

ALWAYS BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE AIRLINE! I will from now on. Priceline customer service is deplorable. What a waste of time and money. I purchased at FULL PRICE airline tickets for my 10 year anniversary. I chose the full price format because I wanted to be sure of the selected seats and flight times.
The booking process lets you choose the seats for the outgoing flight, then gives you the impression that you are selecting seats together for the return flight. My confirmation page said that I would be booked in the seat next to my husband. I only booked with them instead of the thru the airline, cause I wanted to book a car at the same time. Then I get my confirmation email that states that there was not a car available after all and my husband and I are seating 3 rows apart!
I would not have clicked confirm "signing the contract" if it had stated the truth. So the contract was a lie, I didnt agree to the package they really sold me. I contact "customer service" 3 months in advance to have the error fixed. Their so called "customer service" is run by a bunch of foreigners who barely speak English and are beyond rude! They refused to acknowledge any of this, even though several flights were available they refused any help. I have copies of the original "contract" that I clicked to purchase. They refuse to transfer you to a supervisor, saying they don't have one. Their only response is "we will mail you a copy of our contract policies". My response was "I can mail them a copy of the original contract that I clicked to purchase". Their response was just silence. William Shatner should be ashamed of himself for representing this fraudulent company!
The biggest rip off ever. UNREFUNDABLE! It's a scam! They ripped me off but that is the first and last time.
After being burned from a priceline hotel deal, you would think I would have wised up and heeded my own advice. Ug. Once again, the dangling propaganda lured me in like a starved shark- but this time, it was for a car rental. Do NOT use priceline for a car rental or any other service. I found another like car for $68.60 less then what I ended up getting stuck for with Priceline. Don't let their so called "price guarantee" fool you! I am now not only stuck paying more money, but with an inferior car.
Just a quick note on the hotel room I got from priceline. It was suppose to be a 4 star hotel, the room was filthy and looked at a wall. We ended up having to move rooms 4 times before we settled on a mediocre room. And to top it off, the guests in the room next to us smoked non stop, releasing toxic tobacco smoke into our room. Priceline's response was, sorry we consider that a 4 star hotel. Yeah and priceline, I consider you less then zero, but that was not an option.
COMPLETELY DISSAPPOINTED!
BEWARE of one thing... EXTRA CHARGES! Priceline has worked wonders for me, but I have had TWO bad experiences that you should be aware of! They set you up with a wonderful price "GUARANTEED" and then after you've paid the hotel may charge you MORE when you check in. It IS in their contract! They have no control over hotel fees. I am staying at an Orlando Resort and they are asking me to pay $10 for Park Transportation (which I am NOT using!) it doesn't matter to them they go ahead and require it, so if you want to sleep there you better pay what ever the "extra" charge is. So much for the saving! I called, passed thru three different operators and the last one's offer sounded like a recording machine "I am so sorry, we can e-mail you our contract so that you can read it..." They could care LESS that I have been a customer of them for YEARS and now feel so deceived!
Hope you have a better experience, but if you take the risk, don't complain if you get those "imposed incidental charges".
Shame on you Priceline!:-(
I am rating this based on a one-time experience. My friends and i needed to book a hotel for one night in the washington dc area and most of the hotels there were priced 300-400 a night. I tried to do the "name-your-price" hotel and chose a 3/5 star hotel. They accepted my offer of 100usd and upgraded my hotel to a 4star one. I think it depends on your luck. The only thing is there are no refunds/ change of dates or whatsoever once you bid on that hotel. Just read the fine print carefully and make sure you are not going to make any changes and you will be fine :D We stayed at the renaissance dupont circle (marriott) near the GWU area. 100 for a night. Can't complain!
Total rip-off. Bait and Switch. Completely deceptive. You can get better rates by doing your own research. They booked me into the most overpriced, poorly reviewed dump in town and tried to pass it off as a two star property. Well, it wasn't the brand that was bad - it was just this particular property. I could have easily booked a better property for less money. Priceline is dishonest. Save yourself the hassle and do not use them!
***After complaining up the ladder far enough Priceline refunded my money and I booked another property on my own***
I called their customer service twice. I showed them the reviews on tripadvisor.com and hotels.com where the property was just slammed for its uncleanliness. According to Priceline.com - your room is supposed to be clean. Yet half of the recent reviews of this property say it was filthy. I called the hotel. I was told the reports on the websites wrong. Anyways, enough lamenting. Please do yourself a favor and steer far clear of priceline.com.
I want to warn others to not use Priceline.com. I had a problem with my name your own price offer and called customer service. He told me their policy, which I knew, and then asked to speak to the highest level of customer service. I put in a lower star rating so I would not be charged extra resort fees. It bumped me up to a 3 star hotel which has resort fees. I am being charged more than my offer price when I get to the hotel. He could do nothing and kept repeating their policy. Be careful, there are hidden charges. Do not waste your money. There are other great sites out there.
Do not use this site for anything - BIG FAT RIPOFF. Wanted to change a flight from Corpus Christi to Dallas Fort Worth - fare increase of over $1000 for a date change!
So much for supporting the military!
Well... never ever again.
This organisation is immoral and amazingly greedy.
Go elsewhere!
Be warned.
Oh and Priceline - Fool me once, fool me twice - now I will see it as my point to ensure that all my colleagues, friends and public now about your scam.
So angry and disgusted beyond words! And when I dared to complain I was hung up on!
I see a lot of bad reviews knocking this site, but i've gotten some just absolutely amazing deals on hotels from Priceline. Actually I usually book my hotels on priceline using name your own price functions because I'm not very picky about hotels. I've gotten $400 hotels in manhattan for $200, at places like the Sofitel and Millenium Hilton, but I think the sweetest deal I've ever gotten was a suite in Denver for $29!
I can understand the frustration regarding this site. A few years ago I was traveling to Miami Beach, and I didn't notice that the zone they drew extended up really far away from my target neighborhood. I tried to cancel the hotel but pretty much all the customer service people there are just trained to be jerks and say no to everything.
However with a little savvy, you can save yourself the trouble of having to deal with their horrible customer service and get some really good deals.
Here's what I do - and this is VERY important
1. Check for the LOWEST price the hotels with the star rating you are looking for in the zone you want to stay in
2. Put in a bid around 50-60% of the original price
3. Resubmit at a higher price if you don't get it.
In my experience I usually got a room or some sort of higher counter offer on the first try. Remember it still all depends on the supply and demand. You can usually figure out what hotel you are most likely to get before you bid - its usually among the 3 of the lower tier of that star range, although I've gotten really lucky at times. If those hotels in that star level don't do if for you, then just look at the next level. I would stick with a least a 3 star on priceline to avoid lemons. Also I never bid for more than 75% of the original price - I would rather just book it the normal way.
Note that this only works well in cities where priceline has a large inventory of hotels to choose from.
I've had good experiences with Priceline.com. Needed a hotel in San Francisco recently, and got a great deal.
It's always a good idea to check around and make sure you're getting the best rate, but I've used Priceline a few times and have always been happy with the results.
They are liars. They are MORE expensive than if you call the hotel yourself and they have deceptive business practices.
Just about EVERYONE who has ever used these BASTARDS have something negative to say. They are constantly finding new ways to screw the public. I wound up with a recent reservation in San Diego and even tho I requested only sites with FREE PARKING they booked me into a downtown hotel--Holiday Inn Exp with a $16 a day PARKING FEE.
I will never ever use this website again. Please read and learn.
We offered $140 for a resort and got a hotel which its price on the website was $114. I was shocked how can it be that they are promising up to 60% discount in "name your own price" and that I am paying $140. I called them and said it's a deceit since you don't suppose to get hotel that its price is lower than your offer, but they just don't care and after speaking with 3 representative, nothing was done.
They kept saying that you can't cancel a deal that was done in "name your own price".
They cheat us and now we are paying more than $650 after tax and commissions (such a theft) for hotel which is worth less than half the price we are paying.
We also learned that they you have only one opportunity to get a refund if you find a cheaper deal. And when we said that on their website the hotel costs $114, they said they will check our eligibility for refund, but than I said you can find it even cheaper in other websites and I was told "sorry, there is only one chance to get refund and you used yours".
They are liars and cheaters!
DON'T EVER USE THIS WEBSITE
The listed prices are considerably higher than the hotels' websites list, but this is how they get you to use their "priceline negotiator"/name your own price tool. With this tool, you may be so fortunate to pay what the hotel is ACTUALLY charging! Wowee - what a bargain! And better yet - by using this service instead of reserving through the hotel directly, you pay up front and there are no refunds! Yay! I don't know about you, but I LOVE getting TRICKED and then SCREWED by companies... especially if I give them even more money, under the GUISE OF INSURANCE, and then STILL am denied a cancellation and refund even though the reservation is 10 WEEKS AWAY! So glad I bought that "insurance"...
I have used and will continue to use priceline for getting GREAT hotels in all the locations we travel! We LOVE the savings and have never had a problem - even once when I had to contact them regarding a mistaken booking.
My daughter (18) is having serious neurological problems. She understands very little of what she does. She was looking for a flight and hotel for us to go to Mayo Clinic to address this particular problem. She gave them her phone number, initialed that she was 21 and gave them her e-mail address. They say she booked on a name your price site. She can't even recall putting the numbers in. I needed a package deal. She put my CC# and name and this is not what we need. They will not allow changes in spite of her initialing a contract saying she's 21 nor her mental state when she did so. I would NOT RECOMMEND them if they were the only travel site to choose from!
I have been a faithful priceline customer since 2002 and just had a horrible experience with them. My daughter was in a basket ball tournament in Santa Cruz and I needed a hotel room. Iused priceline and requested a room for 4 people. I have 2 small children. I got to the hotel after the first day tournament at 10:00pm and checked in. I went to the room and say only 1 bed. I went back to the counter and told them I needed 2 beds. They said priceline only reserved me for double occupancy, and she did not have any more rooms. She told me to call priceline since they already charged my card to cancel and that she would just rent the room to another customer. I called priceline and spoke with a representative and he said he needed to speak to the hotel. I walked back into the hotel and put him on speakerphone. The receptionist told him it was fine to cancel. The representative then said that I would need to call in the morning because the refund department was closed. He gave me a case# and said I would get a refund in the morning. I went to another hotel down the street and got another room. I paid $140 for the first room and $170 for the second room. I was on a low budget already and this really put a damper on my weekend. When I called priceline back the next day they transferred me to a manager who said I was not getting a refund because I had checked into the room. I explained to him that I did not know it was 1 bed until I got to the room but that I did not use the room. He would not take my case# and basically said too bad. I am out $140 because of this and am very upset. If I thought for one second that they were not going to reinburse me I would never had got another room, I would have just slept on the floor or something. I will never use them again and you should not either. They have terrible customer service.
I was meeting my college room mate in San Diego for a girls weekend. She booked a hotel through priceline because, although we saw some nicer hotels, the one she booked offered two free spa treatments, breakfast and free parking with the $199 room rate. She printed out her confirmation, as well as two additional drop downs that printed out the coupons for the spa, parking, etc. She is super thorough, so she actually called to confirm, through priceline, asking the customer service person about the extras. It was all confirmed.
When we got to the hotel they told us that they would not honor the extras. Not only were we not getting our spa treatments, but we were going to have to pay $20 per night to park! The hotel was NOT particularly nice... we were in a ground floor room looking out at a parking lot!
The hotel said that priceline was never authorized to make the deal that they did. When we called customer service, from the hotel desk, they told us that they had NO RECORD OF THE EXTRA SERVICES we were promised. We explained that we had a print out in our hands... they said, pretty much, "too bad for you." Then we asked to just have our money refunded. If we were going to pay $220 per night we wanted a nice hotel. THEY REFUSED to refund our money! (Honestly, the hotel was not helpful either!) I had my friend call her credit card company to stop payment and we went to a MUCH nicer hotel... for $180 per night!
I was SHOCKED at the bait and switch pulled on us! Is this legal?
I had to make a trip out of state for a funeral. It would have too expensive for me to drive, and, all the websites I checked for airfare quoted me a price of at least $800 per person, round trip. As a last resort I checked out priceline.com, not knowing what to expect. I requested round trip airfare (from California to Texas), a hotel room for 2 nights, and a rental car for the duration of my trip, and to my utter amazement, was given a total price of $700 for everything! I booked the trip and expected the worse. Everything went well, and I was anticipating total disaster. The only draw back was the flights were not direct flights, so we had one stop each way, so the first day of our trip we spent flying, and coming home we arrived after midnight. The hotel was 2 1/2 stars, but very nice! The complimentary breakfast was great. Checking in for the flights, room, and car were hassle free. I would say that the customer service for priceline sucks though. I called to request an earlier flight and was told they would make a one time exception due to the circumstances of my trip for an extra $50 per person. And, the second morning of our trip, the hot water was broken at the hotel, and the priceline customer service wasted 50 minutes of my time on the phone saying ". Still checking, hold on... still checking, hold on", when I called to request a new hotel. The hot water was working again by the time I got pissed off and hung up the phone. All in all, I would definitely use the site again, I would either pay more to change the flight or add another day to my trip to accomidate the travel time. The price for this trip was really unbeatable. Now if only the same could be said for pricelines customer service!
I am the first to say that I am not a fan of writing reviews, I usually find they do more harm then good. I could not resist writing one for Priceline. They are rude and obnoxious people to try and have a conversation with. They were awful to me on the phone and kept telling me they could not help me and that I had to call a different number to be connected to Piya or something, I don't know if this is a person or not but all it was was a recording and I needed to speek to someone asap as my finance was standing in line at the airport and I had no time to "leave a message" I booked a flight through Priceline, they sent me an email confirmation. I thought everything was ok until I happen to go to my mail and double check everything. It wasn't until I hit "check full itinerary" that I saw the transaction was cancelled because of fradulant charges. I was the cardholder and nothing about the transaction was illegal. I had my phone number and everything and no one contacted me. I had to switch flights last min through Delta (very happy with their service) without going into every detail, just take my advice... do not use priceline... awful!
Answer: The agreed to price is inclusive. I would look at dollar's website before renting from Priceline. There is no layer of protection from prcln.
Answer: With Price Line you may pay a reduced price. However, you get reduced services. Be prepared for hidden costs from the merchant as their ads on Price Line do not include their entire policy.
Answer: I'm not sure what you mean by "receive" the e-ticket. I've booked numerous times through priceline and other intermediaries, but have never received a ticket. I would suggest that you look at the itinerary that you've received from priceline and look for the Airline Confirmation Number (which may be a sequence of letters and or numbers depending on the airline). Then go to the airline's website and look up your flight itinerary. This process also varies by airline, but there should be some menu such as "My Trips" or other itinerary look up option. The airline should be able to find your itinerary based on your name and confirmation number. If your priceline itinerary contains an e-ticket number, you may be able to use that on the airline's website as well. If the airline has your itinerary, you're good to go. You'll be able to check in and get a boarding pass (electronic or print) 24 hours prior to your flight. If the airline has no record of you, then you've got a problem.
