I thought that I was dealing with a local company, but received a call from Champion Windows, known for inflated prices.
A completely misleading shell site to collect your info and sell to others. Don't be fooled into thinking they're local and in your area. The reviews are bogus. You'll soon have a non-stop flood of people calling, emailing, and showing up at your front door. How can the site be allowed to exist?
Don't bother. I did a Google search for a dryer vent cleaner in my area. Powell and Sons came up first with my town listed right next to their name and even a map that included my location. After they had me request an estimate which included my phone number and email address, they replied the service is not available in my area. It's a scam to get your contact info so they can sell it to other companies. Now I have to worry about getting bombarded with unwanted solicitations.
Powell and Sons can up as a plumber in my area. There was not a phone number so I have to "request a quote". I stated that my well had stopped working. I immediately received a message stating that they were unable to help, but that my request had been sent to other professionals. I received 2 calls within two minutes asking about helping me with my bathroom remodeling needs!
On Google an ad mentioned that this company was servicing about a 10 mile radius in my area along with a whole bunch of fake five star reviews. As soon as I filled out the contact form, my phone immediately rang. I knew something was up. In in the last 24 hours I receive phone calls from Belgium, China and now I'm getting Chinese spam calls and text messages. I have already unsubscribed myself from home advisor and Angie's list (who apparently is running this spam show) and I am still getting the calls. Everybody who has called me, I told him that they have the wrong number and then I never requested anything which has helped, but I'm livid that Angi and home advisor would pull this stunt.
Not a company. Exists only to send recommendations to others who will spam your phone with service offerings that don't actually pertain to your issue.
Don't fill out their form. You will get calls and text from every company in the state wanting to come to your house.
Do not fill out a quote form. They give all your information to telemarketers. If you're not the company doing the work then remove yourself from such searches. What a scam
If you fill out the online quote request you will be spammed by the Angi website. I quickly unsubscribed from Angi. Hope that works
They take all your information & then forward it (sell it?) to Angi's List and HomeAdvisor. Their website is misleading -- Even though it says they themselves perform certain jobs, after you fill in your information it will say something similar to "Oh, we can't help you, but we've sent all your information to all of these people who can." Prepare to get flooded with calls.
Their website solicits personal data and it is immediately sold off. The second I hit the request quote button my phone was inundated with both texts and calls non stop and my phone is not even usable for telework. This scam should be highly illegal!
Powell and sons is not a legit company. If you fill out your info to get a bid, it routes you to Lowe's. Such a joke and dishonest business practices
We asked for a simple downspout replacement, but what we got was repeated calls from Gutter Cover Companies. They are not trustworthy!
BEWARE! I enter my information to get a quote from Powell Landscaping and instead a kid named Cole Miller from Starkville MS called me to come by and give me a quote to clean up my backyard and to clean up my koi ponds. He said he would come by Monday, 4/17/2023. He never showed. Then on Tuesday I got a text that he would be here at 1:30. I do tax preparation work out of my home and Tuesday was the last day to file so I know I never told him to come Tuesday. He called sometime that afternoon and said he was at Lowe's and would be by shortly. His call was well after 2:00. Then he calls again around 3:30 and is lost. He would not take my directions to my house, that he would use his GPS which got him lost in the first place. Finally he showed up at 3:45 when I was outside looking for him and talking to my neighbor who has been taking care of my yard since my husband died December 2021. He looked at my ponds and told me what he have to do to clean them up and then we walked around the yard so I could show him what all needed to be done. He never did an estimate, but he did start cleaning up my backyard about 4:00. He was finished about 6:15. I asked him how much I owed him and he rolled his eyes up and said $375! I said for what. He said 3 hours of labor at $50 and hour and his supplies. Well he only was at my house for 2.25 hours so I guess I had to pay his hourly rate to give me a quote. But still, he did not work 3 hours. I asked him what supplies he was charging me for. He said RoundUp, Weed Eater String, and gas and oil for his equipment. I told him that 2 containers of RoundUp was about $60 and Weed Eater string is only about $5 - $6. He said he spent $80 at Lowes plus he had all the gas he used in his truck. I told him that he cannot charge me for gas in his truck because that is his cost of doing business and besides he drove around from 1:00 until 3:45 because he was lost. I told him $80 to $225 is one hell of a markup on supplies. I have never had to pay for supplies to have yard work done. Below are pictures of the mess he left my yard in. He said he would come back Saturday and finish and of course he did not! This was a horrible thing to do to a 68 year old widow who has had 3 back surgeries and cannot clean up the mess he has made! I have no proof of purchase because I gave him a check and it
Some random guy shows up in a beat out car. I still have no idea who they are and quotes 6400 to replace a 5 ft chiminy. Looking over his shoulder I see labor is 3500. I guess the 2900 is for permit and 180 bricks? Seems like a scam
Mike Cordell "talked only" of "Easy Appliance Repair" subcontracted under the 'Powell & Sons" name. This is a total scam $250 for an hours worth of looking at my washer. I put a stop payment on my check, which he claimed he already cashed. My bank said no check had come thru yet... Total scam like the other reviews commented...
I was never emailed a receipt, only the stop payment check with my bank...
Filled out estimate form on website for screen door installation. John from another company called Design Windows informed me they don't do screen doors. I advised it's on their website which he adamantly said again that THEY DO NOT DO THAT. He said he'll talk to someone about taking it off webpage.
Can't even get ahold of a number to contact them. They can't be bothered to contact you, and instead send a bunch of scam callers to call you. May you lose business for this scam
Powell and sons is NOT an actual company providing services mentioned on their website. They will only pass your information along to tons of other businesses so that they can contact you in order to try to sell YOU their services.
As soon as you enter your information, you will be bombarded by calls, texts, and emails soliciting services to you. If you don't want this to happen, DON'T enter your info into their website. You can read their privacy policy, which will explain that they will collect your information and give it to other businesses.
They are most likely profiting from selling your information to these third parties, and making money from affiliate marketing. They are not in the business to provide services, but to market the services of others.
I personally feel that what they're doing is dishonest and a bad business practice, which is why I'm rating them only one star. However, what they are doing is technically legal. This is why it is always best to research a company and read their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before taking any action.
