What a treat. I hadn't given this trip much thought as l was holidaying with friends and they'd done all the planning. Now here I am at the end of our charter quite speachless.
The Whitsundays are extraordinary, our boat was so cool and the guys and gals from Portland Roads have taught me a thing or two about running an amazing business. Love, love, loved every minute and l do not want to go home. A real treat was the indigenous and Eco connections, so respectful and practical (and some great take home ideas)

Our dream trip to sail the Whitsundays began in early May *** and we had a magical two weeks on Portland Roads a 420 Lagoon catamaran, with two other couples over our two weeks of sailing, around this amazing environment. The Portland Roads team that supported our holiday was professional, well organised and friendly and made us feel we were very well looked after. We received great hospitality and advice from ***, the principal of the company. *** inducted us the use of the boat and kept us on track. In the last 4 days of our trip when there was just two of us on board, we had Deano as our sail guide, an experience we highly recommend.
As this was our first trip of bare boat sailing we received great advice from *** who drew up a proposed itinerary for our trip around the Whitsunday Islands, including a visit to the lovely Palm Bay resort on Long Island, which we will definitely visit again on our next sail with Portland Roads. One of the great features of Portland Roads was access to the œOcean Club at Abell wharf, which provided full bathroom, laundry and BBQ facilities when were docked overnight at the marina. This facility, which was right next door to our mooring, allowed us to have a refreshing shower and access to washing machines, free coffee, a beautiful deck and BBQ facilities.
We totally recommend Portland Roads for your sailing adventure in the Whitsundays.
Sailing the Whitsundays aboard *** with family and friends was an unforgettable experience.It is something I would recommend to anyone.We found Deano terrific to deal with and nothing was too much trouble.
Had a wonderful trip. The ˜Lucy was a great Cat, plenty of room and well equipped. We had a great instructor in Dino, who explained everything we needed to know. We got some great sailing in, saw some dolphins & turtles, and colourful coral fish. Weather was mostly perfect, aside from one squall that left a couple of us green for a short time. Perfect thing to do with your favourite bunch of people, plenty of rest and fun to be had, in a beautiful part of our country.
If you're longing for wide, open spaces, blue horizons and wind in your hair, then this holiday is for you. Be a true master of your own destiny with helpful tips and instructions, and a practical lesson before you depart. You'll become Old Salt in no time at all! Soak up the sun, the scenery and good company for life long memories. I certainly did... Thank you Portland Roads.

Loved our holiday on Lucy, she is a well equipped catamaran with everything you need to enjoy sailing the WhitSundays. It was a pleasure dealing with the staff from Portland Roads (especially Deano) as they had a high level of experience, knowledge and were professional and friendly. This is the third time was have chartered with Portland Road and they never cease to amaze me and my crew, with what a polished operation they run.
Everything was perfect, from the boat, Southern Man, to the weather, to the fishing, snorkelling, communications, etc etc.
The only bad thing was leaving.

Myself and my family had an exceptional time onboard the Portland Roads boat. Been a smaller boating company, the service we received was more personal and nothing was a drama. *** took the time to show us all about the boat and made sure we were confident enough before he sent us out to sea.
Its an experience we never thought we would do, but after doing it, it is something we will never forget.

It's been an amazing trip. The southern Mann is very well equiped and it was very spacious for 6 people.
