The overall reputation of Plenty of Fish (POF) is largely negative, with customers expressing significant dissatisfaction regarding the quality of profiles and user interactions. Common concerns include a high prevalence of fake profiles, rudeness, and entitlement among users, particularly women, who are perceived as unrealistic in their dating expectations. Many reviews highlight poor customer service, including issues with account management and a lack of effective support. While some users acknowledge the site's potential for connecting singles, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that POF has declined in quality and user experience, leading many to seek alternatives.

I've moved a few times for work and not knowing anyone in the cities I've moved to, this has been a helpful tool in meeting men. Sure, there are lots of things you can complain about - people who don't respond to a first message; people who don't bother to write much of a profile; sleazy people who may be fraudsters or scammers, etc. But if you're not in a rush to just meet whoever's profile pic might appeal and you take the time to ask some great questions, assess what people are looking for, and respect that people take the time to send a message, it's a good way to meet people.
I've dated men in every city I've lived in thanks to POF - and most of those relationships lasted a year or two. However, I didn't jump into bed with anyone nor did I jump into meeting men who I hadn't at least felt a spark in a few messages, then a phone call or two, then a meeting.
Beware the newly divorced or separated - sometimes they are in such a rush to put themselves out there that they haven't dealt with their "ex" issues. And avoid stories that just don't match or inconsistencies - those are red flags. But there are some great, sincere people - at least I've found it to be so. But if you're desperate to date and meet someone every weekend, that's not a recipe for success on POF. Patience, knowing what you want and waiting for it and having a positive attitude for what it is may offer some success (depending, of course, on what your idea of success is!)
I just want to say, I kissed a few frogs before I found my prince, but now we are almost 5 years married and have a beautiful 6 month old son, my story is long, and special, I would love to share it with anyone interested in hearing it
Why woulnd't you like PlentyOfFish? Free to use and many users. Browse the internet and you will find hundreds of dating sites which don't even have 10% of the members PlentyOfFish has. No doubt about it: Before I discovered Mingle2day PlentyOfFish was my number one online dating source. Highly recommended!
First off I'm a non paying member. I received my fair share of "Meet Up" notifications. Obviously since I haven't paid I can't see who they are. I was able to identify several of the senders on my own. Everyone one I emailed did not email me back. So one of two things is happening. Either they accidentally swiped right as wanting to meet me or the site itself is sending out the notifications. I find that most of my notifications arrive during the wee hours of the morning which I thought was a bit odd. I'm done playing with the fish and have deleted my account.
I suggest you do not defend yourself to people who talk to you in a rude way... They will report you and you will get deleted. I had a guy ask me if he could pay me for sex and because i defended myself my profile was deleted! It is ridiculous i was a upgraded member for most of the year and still got treated like $#*!! Its a huge joke no one is really on there for love just for sex! But i guess it is what it is!
Maybe if you pay for all the upgrades it works, but it does not do what it says. I get emails notifying me that so and so sent me a message. There is a link to view his profile and another to read my messages. Neither works. Each goes to a page that says "Upgrade now!" I feel bad for any man who messaged me and thinks I just didn't bother to reply.
Full of emotional guys not over their ex's. One guy I was seeing took me on holiday originally booked for him and his ex a week later he got back with her got with someone else he got me pregnant then went back to his ex then I met an alcoholic two ex alcoholics an ex heroin addict working and claiming benefits and an arrogant cry baby on benefits who is totally messed up! Don't bother it's a rat pit. I will NEVER use that site again!
POF will delete your account for "posting" nude pics even if you DONT POST NUDE PICS. And then there is no appeal process. They hide the details of how to contact their customer service when you get screwed by them, so all you know is your account is suddenly gone. HORRIBLE SITE. DONT USE IT
Hey people... it's what you make of it. I had no problems meeting nice men. It was fun and funny. If you go into it negative that's all your going to get. Be positive just remember sometimes you have to kiss alot of frogs to get your prince. POF treated me very polite and I would recommend them. Yes I did meet my fiance on this site. Thank you POF
LOL
After awhile you can't get into your own profile & theres no one or no way of getting it removed. I have 2 profiles & cant get into either of them. It has to be a better way to find love.
Just treat this site for what it is -a joke
I would sum it up, very average women who are very picky
I did speak to a few but they had the personality of a snail and I only got one word answers, not very intelligent at all. Another one told me she had hundreds of messages and had been on loads of dates but no joy (the women must see it like a conveyor belt of men and they wont rest until they find their perfect man) so you already competing against thousands of men,
A lot of the women use text speak and swear in their profiles, not the type you really can see anything long term with. When you get a message back from someone who is 32 that's says "I am good wbu wuu2?" then you know its a sewer
It did make me smile, I was on it a few years ago 2012 and It didn't take me long to see old faces with the exact same pictures! I had to chuckle when one overweight woman who was 5'4 said in her headline Only guys 6'2 or over. The entitlement/pickiness is laughable and no way would they dare have the brass neck to act like such a diva off the computer when they would get ignored by 99.99 of the guys
Oh if you do join get ready for a ton of meet me from fake profiles who only want you to click on some dodgy adult site
To sum up
Too many thick women, too many picky women, too many illiterate women, too many women with issues and too many women who are social misfits. Apart from that I higly recommend
I did not sign up under this site, but I'm getting notifications. I can't even see my own profile (I can't reset password). So, obviously this site is full of frauds.
I hope this is useful! My most significant experiences are that I met a nice bi-girl who turn out not so covertly hostile nor could she ever talk about 'us' AT ALL!. She is a psychological counselor. I also met a total dud. Most everyone said they wanted a real & honest man, AND they were themselves game players, always with demands, expectations & drama. The holy cow of dating sites is women members (real or not). (On PoF) If you're not politically correct, nor suck it up & nor let women get by with (emotional) 'murder' & be 'energy vampires', you are hindered in your search options & can only see women who are a "few pounds overweight" (FAT), nor can you ever search for those 15 years or more younger than you. It's a game that's stacked up against you here & in every aspect of life (in the USA). And with biometrics (which they sell for mega-bucks) they know ALL sorts of UNGODLY things about you that you can't even imagine. Think they, facebook or whoever wouldn't sell your biometrics info to anybody like the NSA (National Security Administration), the CIA, Homeland Security. Just typing these words (or speaking them on the phone) means you are under surveillance & the worlds nations know that, but you don't? If you get happily married or in a relationship, dating sites go out of (big) business/collapse. Help America stay strong & stay single & unattached. World peace & planetary survival depends on it. Btw, in a flaming war, she always wins, & you always lose! It's all about economics & equality, just more equality for some that are special than others, like you dude. Get use to it.
Why are they control freaks. Typical yanks.
Control everything you enter. Some is none of there business. I cannot search for my ideal partner or friend because everything is controlled. No idea who these people are but they need to join the real world of life rather than sit behind a comp with there I. T qualies
I tried this site 3 times. All 3 times the site logged me off. When I tried to log in, it repeatedly said, my either my name or password was invalid, when I'm certain it was right. So, either the site has a bug or I wasn't a paying customer and it automatically shut me out. A total waste of time. I'm thoroughly disgusted, with this app.
I just found out from my husband on sept 2nd that he has been talking with a girl on your pof site. They met 3 times in a parking lot. He got gonorrhea from her. Our marriage may not be strong enough to get past this but I wanted to let others know that there is a girl out there on your website spreading this. Her username starts or has Rebecca or becca in it. She is from Aurora, Co. And drives a older blazer or Ford Explorer. My husband deleted his acct and said they never swapped numbers. He could not remember her username unless he don't want to say. My husbands username is 1guy1978. I tryed reopening his acct or making another acct but no luck finding her to report it. I believe he was using a yahoo email. Just don't want this spreading!
People say 'You get what you pay for.' so I did not expect much using POF. After all it is a free site and my experiences tell me that most free sites are a waste of time. However, I highly recommend POF. Not bad for a free dating site and I am spoiled but absolutely fantastic dating sites like Mingle2day so it is not easy to impress me.
It's horrible. Don't know who you're really talking to or corresponding with. Lots of fake profiles.
I bought a month subscription, it automatically enrolls you in monthly auto pay. After a month I got an email stating that $19.99 was taken from my account, no problem right? Right away cancelled my auto-pay and called and asked for a refund as soon as the phone lines opened. Sarah in billing stated that there are only two physical people to talk to, and they are both in billing, so basically no customer service. I told her my situation and how I called and wrote two emails as soon as I saw the POF monthly charge, her response? Sorry, NO REFUNDS AT ALL. I stated that it was my fault but I called and emailed hours after the charge posted. Too bad, no refunds. I then asked to talk to her supervisor or somebody else, as previously written, no one else to talk to. And that was it, no refund, no one to ask about it. Sarah stated that I can email them but I would get the same NO REFUND response. I totally understand if I had asked for a refund a week or two into the cycle, but I emailed and called as soon as the charge was posted. This was a first for me. Sloppy business practice
Once you have paid for the upgraded account, the site will delete your account for no reason whatsoever & won't spend you a reason or refund
Answer: Oh yes, they want you to upgrade and pay! But when you pay you will see these profiles who you liked or who liked you disappear. They were nothing but bait-and-switch. You gain nothing when you pay, it's the silliest way to spend money. Are you looking for hook up or relationship? I wanted a relationship and I was really frustrated by Pof. Eventually I found what I was looking for on https://j4l.com/402007 But I've lost nearly a year on Pof. Not to mention emotional drain and money!
Answer: I just deactivated my account. This site is a sewer. Do not pay anything for this site or any site. I searched for free on other site( even paid ones you can search for free) and I saw the same guys on most of the other sites as well. I'm gonna grow old alone unless luck steps in and maybe I'll meet my guy IRL.
Answer: Yes its possible
Answer: Delete AND contact the company. If you know who took your pictures be sure to include the name on the profile that your pictures were used on, so they can deal with that person. Once you have deleted your profile, everything is GONE. I have never had anybody use my pictures on any other sites. I'm no great beauty, that could be the reason, Still, once your profile is deleted, everything is gone.
Answer: You cannot do it from the mobile site. You need to use your search, example safari and look up pof desktop version and go to the help in the top left. It will walk you thru it, if I remember correctly. Good luck
Answer: First, write to POF and explain. Now, and I mean NOW call up your credit card company and tell them what happened. I am sure POF will not contact you. Make sure to use the word "unacceptable" when describing the consumer service to the CC company about POF. Keep all emails too. Please keep me posted. Thanks Ann B.
Answer: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING SITE! Any good you hear from or about it... DUH ITS THE SCAMMERS THAT WORK FOR EM. I been booted so many times due to unpopularity cuz i wont date trash so i get booted they keep your money they are garbage
Answer: Fake doesn't really describe them... more like downright liars!
Answer: Golden rule #1: Do onto others as you would have them do unto you Golden rule #2: Anything that sounds to good to be true, is not. Golden rule #3: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Answer: POF is not free at all, you have to upgrade; become a paying member to be able to do anything interesting.
