The overall reputation of Plenty of Fish (POF) is largely negative, with customers expressing significant dissatisfaction regarding the quality of profiles and user interactions. Common concerns include a high prevalence of fake profiles, rudeness, and entitlement among users, particularly women, who are perceived as unrealistic in their dating expectations. Many reviews highlight poor customer service, including issues with account management and a lack of effective support. While some users acknowledge the site's potential for connecting singles, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that POF has declined in quality and user experience, leading many to seek alternatives.

I have been visiting POF for about six years. In the early years I dated and met a lot of women. Let me say I am NOT good looking. Just an average guy. Even some people might be cruel and say I am ugly. But no matter. In the early years women DID respond to messages. They DID read the profiles and they DID message first. At one time I had 38 unread messages in my inbox. This was about 2011. However, over the years the interest women have shown has declined. That said, even back as 2014, I was still receiving messages (different profile). Not as many as in 2011, but I was going on dates. But all this good stuff has now ended. In 2016 I have had six new profiles. No messages. No replies. And obviously no dates. With each new profile I felt I was invisible. And I probably am. No disrespect to the women on there, but I have even messaged the fat ugly ones and still no replies. Only 9 profile views over six profiles, over 11 months. It's not just POF. Oasis, OKCupid are also DEAD. I put this down to there being far too many scammers, fake men's profiles and of course the women are far too picky. Arrogant and won't even look at the profiles never mind message back. POF, RIP.
The subject line says it all.
ZIPPO in terms of customer service; no acknowledgement of emails; no acknowledgement of complaints; entirely slanted, biased and double standard moderation (against men); and idiotic for-pay features such as "Meet Me" & and the new even more assine feature of 'Super Meet Me' surely designed to make those rejected even angrier as they expect people to PAY for Super Meet Me's. One would be better off to save their money, NEVER upgrade and use an escort service instead.
I was on POF for years, on and off. Met my fair share of guys. Most were awful, but I never gave up! I met my very best male friend on POF! Even though nothing ever happened romantically between us, we have an incredible friendship! I thought I was lucky to find such an incredible friendship, especially on POF!... Cut to years later, I sent a guy a message. His profile matched what I was looking for and we started talking. Not too long after that, we met in person. It was pretty much love at first site and I was definitely swept off my feet. We have been together just over a year now and I can't imagine my life without him. We are to be married in August 2017. Never in my life did I think I'd find my husband online, let alone on POF. I'm extremely glad that I stuck with it and gave POF one more chance when I just wanted to delete my profile. I have never been happy. It's all because of POF that I met and fell in love with my husband to be! If you're thinking about giving up, don't. Even just one more chance on POF is all you may need to fall in love like we did.
My account got hacked someone has stolen my identity, and changed the e-mail address. I am getting tons of messages, and I can't open them. POF never responds to e-mails, or answers the phone. Stay clear if you care about your reputation at all, they clearly don't!
Too many picky $#*! people on there. The females on there acted stuck up, meaning that they judge you by your images. Its garbage!
I helped my mom sign up--she's almost 80, but she's lonely so why not?--just a skeleton kind of profile to get her started, her picture, and I told her she could write her own profile, whatever she wanted, at her leisure. Less than an hour later her profile was ENTIRELY DELETED! No explanation, gone! I thought it was some error so we created a new one, had to pick ANOTHER user name, used the same photo from her bday party, her and my brother but very clearly HER!, and AGAIN it got deleted! She emailed them, got a generic reply that they "can't answer every email" and nothing since. She's alone and lonely and I'll NEVER convince her to do this--she's humiliated! POF SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR BLATANT, UNAPOLOGETIC AGISM AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE ELDERLY!
I subscribed to POF. I lost my phone like 2 weeks later. I tried to call and email them. No response I didn't want a refund be just to which to a new profile. What a joke! All they care about is money. I don't even have the profile anymore and they still took money out my account! They need to be investigated and shut down! I'm going to make sure I call my bank and red flag them for scamming
You get contacted by many thieves form Africa trying to lure you into some kind of scam. It seems to be a big issue on Plentyoffish. Never had so many issues with scammers on Mingle2day or be2 but just use your common sense and don't fall for them. Plentyoffish can be a fun site to be on. Mayn members and easy to use. Four stars from my point of view!
Beware of user name "blackerthanblackkk" from he's a scammer, user, manipulates multiple women on the site, claims to be looking for relationship but sweet talks women, sleeps with them, then block them and goes back on the site a repeats the same disgusting pattern. 99% of theses guys on there got ex issues, crackheads, just looking to blow off a load. This site should be called "plenty of hook ups"! You pay for what you get. Free=trash!
I have been on this dating site for 3 years and more. Lots of men who want cyber sex, scammers and liars. I have been on different dating sites and they seem to be the same taking advantage of people through there credit card. I am deleting my profile as I speak. Be careful.
Did u hear pof in the sun newspaper some vile woman was getting dates from men to come round and have sex with her ten yr old daughter then finally found her dismembered body omfg r you for real that is the most disturbing thing I ever heard she was on match.com too dis scusting
No replies from any messages? Most people would reply with a sorry not interested.
Too many women posting FAKE PICS they found on the internet. I use TinEye to detect and then report them, yet they stay up for days. And this site wants my money? Get serious.
And POF shows people as being online for some time after they have logged off, up to 30 minutes in one test I did. Most dating sites do this, to make it look like lots of people are using the site and therefore so should you. Technically this became CONSUMER FRAUD once POF started asking people to upgrade to paid memberships. But the internet is still the wild west so anything goes.
The POF site and app do have some good qualities, but there's just TOO MANY DUDES competing for the few real women on there. I'd like to see them give more serious benefits for those who upgrade to a paid membership, like putting your message at the top of the heap. As it stands now, there will be dozens of non-paying dudes sending messages and it's a lottery as to whether yours will ever be seen, even if you pay for upgrade.
I was under the impression that a membership was $10 and when I put in my credit card lo and behold it charge me $81.40 3 hours later when I noticed it I tried to cancel and they said I can't cancel but they can downgrade me and give me half of my money back if you're reading this stay away from this site it's useless it's worthless is nothing but a money scheme to steal your money and show you hookers and prostitutes no real people hardly are on here I would love to give this site a -10 Buffalo as it goes this one
Charges for service, way too many prostitutes in the "looking to date but nothing serious" or "isn't seeking a relationship of any kind" area. Sucks because it makes me think ask the women in there are hookers
One of two sites that I have used that was actually good (other one was Mingle2day). I've met some lovely women here.
Beware of fakers and scammers from overseas and be suspicious when young and beatiful women approach you.
I am already in a dispute with this company. I canceled my membership months ago and have not used this site since. Yet they charged my credit card for another year and refuse to refund it stating that they have a "no refund" policy. Why should I be forced to pay for something that I am not using? This is BAD BUSINESS. I am filing a dispute with my credit card company.
I was on this site a while, and I've been on dates with some strange men, however I waited and waited and just as I was about to give up, I met this most normal, genuine perfect guy! I didn't think people existed like that never mind on POF... We are now engaged moving in and setting a date for our big day. We just clicked.
I definatly say you need to be careful with who you talk to and who you meet but that isn't pofs fault. Weird people will find a away to get on any site, so that is your responsibility to be safe. So for something that is just internet based and many people can take it for granted, it means so much to me, because if it wasn't for pof I wouldn't of met my soul mate and best friend as neither of us go out or drink to meet new people ect... he also searched me using the advanced search so was a perfect match maker! So thankyou pof!
Answer: Oh yes, they want you to upgrade and pay! But when you pay you will see these profiles who you liked or who liked you disappear. They were nothing but bait-and-switch. You gain nothing when you pay, it's the silliest way to spend money. Are you looking for hook up or relationship? I wanted a relationship and I was really frustrated by Pof. Eventually I found what I was looking for on https://j4l.com/402007 But I've lost nearly a year on Pof. Not to mention emotional drain and money!
Answer: I just deactivated my account. This site is a sewer. Do not pay anything for this site or any site. I searched for free on other site( even paid ones you can search for free) and I saw the same guys on most of the other sites as well. I'm gonna grow old alone unless luck steps in and maybe I'll meet my guy IRL.
Answer: Yes its possible
Answer: Delete AND contact the company. If you know who took your pictures be sure to include the name on the profile that your pictures were used on, so they can deal with that person. Once you have deleted your profile, everything is GONE. I have never had anybody use my pictures on any other sites. I'm no great beauty, that could be the reason, Still, once your profile is deleted, everything is gone.
Answer: You cannot do it from the mobile site. You need to use your search, example safari and look up pof desktop version and go to the help in the top left. It will walk you thru it, if I remember correctly. Good luck
Answer: First, write to POF and explain. Now, and I mean NOW call up your credit card company and tell them what happened. I am sure POF will not contact you. Make sure to use the word "unacceptable" when describing the consumer service to the CC company about POF. Keep all emails too. Please keep me posted. Thanks Ann B.
Answer: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING SITE! Any good you hear from or about it... DUH ITS THE SCAMMERS THAT WORK FOR EM. I been booted so many times due to unpopularity cuz i wont date trash so i get booted they keep your money they are garbage
Answer: Fake doesn't really describe them... more like downright liars!
Answer: Golden rule #1: Do onto others as you would have them do unto you Golden rule #2: Anything that sounds to good to be true, is not. Golden rule #3: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Answer: POF is not free at all, you have to upgrade; become a paying member to be able to do anything interesting.
