Plumbingforce Reviews Summary

The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the professionalism and efficiency of the technicians, as well as their responsiveness and clear communication. However, significant concerns arise regarding unprofessional behavior, lack of expertise, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight issues such as overcharging, poor handling of complaints, and unsafe practices, leading to feelings of frustration and mistrust among clients. Overall, while there are instances of satisfactory service, the prevalence of negative experiences suggests a pressing need for improvements in training, customer support, and operational transparency.

Do not use this company!
September 24, 2018

I booked a 10am-2pm slot early in the morning to fix my boiler. When 2pm arrived and they hadn't turned up I called them and they said they had tried to call me several times for a payment before they arrived, this was a lie as I didn't have any missed calls on my mobile and I question why if they required a 'pending payment' why they didn't ask for that on my initial call. They then took my bank details and said they would be with me by 6pm. At 5pm they called and said they couldn't get to me after all but said they would try again the following day between 9am and 1pm. They didn't care that I had already taken a whole day off work, had no hot water or heating and also that they had taken a 'pending payment' for work not started - If the money gets taken out of my account I now have to file for a dispute to get it back. An absolutely disgraceful way of doing business... you have been warned!

They only seem like they give a darn about their customers. They came around on Saturday, "fixed and FULLY tested" a boiler. On the next day we find out the heating on said fully tested boiler doesn't work and when we called them again a chap picked up and said their office doesn't work on Sundays. So not only we had to wait until Monday, but when they came today, they wanted to charge us a second time over claiming this was a new issue even though we know very well that the issue was pre-existent. Also, the chap from their call centre Harry(wouldn't share his surname) admitted he doesn't know what he is talking about as "he is not an engineer", just kept repeating back what I had just told him and failed to assist me on any level. He just kept saying, "Pay us up front or we will ask the engineer to leave" and "What I can do is ask the engineer to leave and you can write an email to *******@plumbingforce.co.uk" No, thank you, I will not. I never intend to use you again and therefore see no reason for an attempt at constructive criticism. I think you just don't care for your customers and see them as walking cash machines.

Made an appointment for plumbingforce to take out gas fire and make safe whilst modifying hearth, at time of booking i stated i would not be in after arranged time 1pm due to work commitments.
Received call one hour before appointment to say engineer was not available until between 2 and 6, i stated this was not what had been agreed and cancelled appointment, on checking my bank account £94.80 had already been taken out, even though they stated card details were put on hold until engineer left the premises, after acknowledging cancellation they now say it will take 3-5 days before the money will be put back into my account, it took 1 hr for them to take it out so they actually charge upfront, avoid this company like the plague.

AVOID THIS COMPANY
August 16, 2018

D Maxwell came out on Aug 13 to unblock a blocked Saniflow.

He charged £118.80 incl VAT to flush the toilet 4 times and left.

I returned from work, with nobody having used the loo since he left and it was still blocked.

I phoned them up and they couldn't give a sh1t "we'll charge you again if we have to call out again."

AVOID THESE COWBOYS AT ALL COSTS.

Avoid this rip-off company. I have been charged £94.80 by Plumbingforce for an emergency boiler repair which has not been repaired nor attempted to be repaired on 25 June 2018. The heavily tattooed 'plumber' simply walked in and out of the house and said that the boiler was not accessible due to a cupboard. By the way, the boiler was accessible although the access was restricted (lower boiler panel did not drop all the way down). Most annoying is that he did not even attempt the job and even tried to put me off removing the cupboard and said that I need a kitchen fitter (really?), though he was very swift in presenting me with a bill of £94.80. I don't think he was in a mood to work that day. When I contacted customer service and asked for a full refund since no job was attempted I was told 'no' but they can offer half-price discount for the first hour next time round. Thank you, rip-offs, no. When I asked for a half a bill refund since this person made an effort to arrive, I never received a response. Also, when I hired an actual plumber (different firm) the whole job took 20 minutes. Avoid Plumbingforce, they are there to take your money, not to fix boilers.

I had to phone to check if an engineer was arriving 4 times, only to be advised twice the appointment had to be cancelled. After paying £97 to get a further quote to fit a filling loop of £569, I obtained 3 alternative quotes from qualified gas engineers all at quotes of less tan £150.00. I advised the owner whom proceeded to become defensive bordering on aggressive, stating "We wont be beaten on any price" actually means any price from a company the same size at this one... misleading to say the least. Wonder what professional trade standards would make of this?

I would NOT recommend Plumbingforce. Having chosen them because three times in their advertisement, they stressed that they gave a FREE site survey... this quotation is provided for FREE. Also saying that they are happy to attend your home for FREE.
It was not possible to supply and install a water heater due to ventilation problems.
I was then invoiced for £94.80 for doing absolutely nothing.
I have emailed many times with no refund of this amount.
DO NOT USE THESE PLUMBERS!

Paid £94.80 today for not fixing my toilet. That was for looking at the cistern and saying that I needed a side entrance valve that may take a couple of hours to go and get one which would be paid for by me. Could have cost hundreds for a basic repair. Surely he should be carrying basic parts. Left with water turned off during a heatwave. Thanks, Plumbingforce.

Poor company
June 4, 2018

Very poor company. Asked for a full boiler and cylinder service only got a cylinder service. When called to complain about this 2 advisors refused to pass call to a manager stating follow policy or to pay again. The chap was due to come on the Friday so a day off work was booked to facilate this only for him to call 2 hours before they $#*! to say will not be coming on that day and will come the following day with no compensation for the fact I had to take the day off. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Dangerous Company
April 10, 2018

They installed a new boiler for us.

We were disappointed with the general issues others have faced;

- agreed price being increased for essential extra work
- poor customer service
- poor time keeping
- broken promises regarding removal of waste

However the reason we have reported them to both Gas Safe and Trading Standards is down to dangerous incompetence by their engineer.

A couple of months after installation, we noticed that the electrical cable which powers our boiler was left tightly wrapped around one of the water pipes. Through heat from the pipe the cable had been burnt, almost through its casing to expose the live wire.

We have made the company aware of this but they have not attempted to rectify the problem (3 months later).

£120 an hour labour - took 1.5 hours (yes, went over the hour) to fit a couple of washes to a tap. Didn't have a waste pipe part on their van, so had to come back and refit on another day, therefore another £120 call out to fit a £14.50 piece of waste pipe.
Total job inc vat £355 to fit 2 washes and a waste pipe. Payment upfront so god help you if you are not happy with the job! Please look at other reviews - when 5 stars are given it must be by their family and friends.

Wish I'd found these reviews earlier. Found website for Plumbingforce online Wednesday afternoon. Used live chat. Explained I needed plumber to replace kitchen mixer tap constantly leaking from stem, feared the problem might escalate so shut off water to kitchen. Told to call the helpline number. Did so. They asked for credit card details in advance for £79+ VAT call out fee. Then told there were no longer any engineers available that afternoon. Booked for 8-11am Thurs. At 10:15am I called to check on progress. Told there were no engineers available. Booked again for Sat morning 8-11am. Company didn't call to say no-one coming though engineer did not appear. I phoned at 11am to cancel the request and asked for them to ensure no monies had been debited and that my card details be destroyed. An appalling, misleading service that could lead to customers property being damaged/flooded while waiting for an emergency service that is no such thing. Will report to Trading Standards.

As with other customers on this site, my first appointment ended up with the plumber arriving 3.5hrs late, and for the replacement part I booked, he didn't turn up at all. My payment card was debited, even though PlumbingForce cancelled on me. I discussed my experience with a) a barrister friend specialising in consumer law, and b) Citizens Advice Bureau (who are now the first point-of-call for Trading Standards). A report is now being submitted to Trading Standards, who will investigate PlumbingForce to see whether basic consumer law is being followed or whether the company has acted in any way improperly or illegally. If so, they can take action to protect ordinary consumers like us, up to and including prosecution if required. The more genuine complaints Trading Standards receives about this company, the more informed the investigation will be.
THE NUMBER TO CALL IS: ******* 04 05 06.
It's not enough for us to simply leave reviews on websites like this, as helpful as they are. Proper action needs to be taken if and when a company has a history of appalling customer service that may or may not be improper or illegal (if you think the reviews on here are bad, try several other review sites). One simple call to the CAB number above, to explain your experience, is all that's required.

Charged nearly £500 for two hours of work and part to change a faulty PCB on a combi boiler!

They entice you in with a cheaper price but then stretch out the work and charge you higher price for the parts.

Better off paying a higher hourly rate with say British Gas but knowing that you won't get ripped off as the final price will be a lot less than Plumbing Force.

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!
December 29, 2017

Called Plumbing Force and I was guaranteed a plumber would visit today between 9-1 pm. They called at 12:40 to say engineer was delayed will be arriving between 2-6 pm. Of course, the engineer never showed up. They took £96 from my credit card. Based in other comments I can see they are used to play with money that is not theirs.

Terrible company
November 4, 2017

Terrible service, awful company.
When I called I was told an engineer would be out to me by 6pm, at 6.15 the rude woman from the office called me to say it would now be tomorrow (this was an emergency call out) between 8am to noon. At 12.15 she called again to say it would not be today. No apologies, she simply did not care.
From what she said on the phone it seems they only have 1 engineer on duty.
Asked for a refund on the £120 call out charge. Took days to come back to me.

THIS COMPANY IS A BUNCH OF THIEVES DO NOT USE THEM.

The Engineer Dave Maxwell came promptly at 8 am. Worked hard and efficiently all day and left the property at 6.30 pm. Left the property clean and tidy and I would recommend Dave to anyone. I will contact Plumbing Force in the future. Thank you.
