They try and give the impression of being linked to local government - warning you that you will be fined if you don't display compliance notices (that they charge you for).
It's all a scam - do not buy them!
They start off by offering a single poster for $10. I fell for this and their $10 turns into $500 dollars. I have spoken to them several times and told them I do not want their posters. They are very pushy and almost bully you into thinking you have to do this or your business will be in some kind of violation of federal and state laws. I informed them that I can visit my state department of labor website and order the poster for free. Same with OSHA and the federal gov. Department of labor and so on. They are calling me almost weekly now and it shows up as a local number. They not only call the business phone number but are also calling my private cell phone.
I'll start with the good:
The all-in-one poster is convenient and reasonably priced. I am okay with paying the $9.95 cost (not sure it's worth $19.95 [the "regular" price], especially when paying $5.95 for shipping). I have purchased this space-saving poster for roughly five years now.
Now the bad:
When it's time to renew, the company doesn't just send a renewal notice/reminder, we received a "Suspension of Coverage" that included what could happen if we didn't renew "today!" After placing our order at the beginning of the month, mid-month (last week), I received a call from a representative, telling me she needed to verify our information. She tried to talk me into purchasing more, but I declined and said that all we want is what we ordered. Today, I received a call from someone who asked to speak with the owner. I asked who was calling, she identified herself as "Joy"--but didn't identify the company. I asked what it was regarding, and as soon as it was clear she was a solicitor, I asked that she remove us from her call list. She said she didn't have a list and that it was regarding an order we'd placed. I asked if she was from Personnel Concepts--she hesitated and then confirmed. She then proceeded to tell me she was calling on a recorded line and that she needed to confirm our information. I told her that someone from PC had already called and did that. She said she needed to do it again and apologized for multiple calls. I obliged and responded to her questions about my name, email address, and our company's address--she specifically asked if that was the correct billing address and then started talking about additional (poster) information and then a cost of something around $200. I said we do not want anything more than what we'd ordered and that we do not want to pay $200. She said that no one wants to pay the amount, but that we need the additional information. I said we would get whatever else we need from online. She said we cannot do that and that we must order the additional information. At that point, I put her on hold and asked one of our owners (an attorney) to speak with her.
For anyone who hasn't seen this online (from the State of Washington, L&I website):
"The following posters are available FREE from the issuing State of Washington, federal, or other agency. Contrary to some advertisements you may have received, employers aren't required to purchase posters from private companies. If you feel you have been misled by advertisements claiming posters must be purchased, you may file a complaint with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General at: atg.wa.gov/file-complaint."
Again, the poster is handy, but be wary. It's a shame that Personnel Concepts doesn't just make a good product and try to build on that reputation. Based on my experiences over the years and from reading other reviews, PC tries to make money by misleading businesses into purchasing (unneeded?/unwanted?) products following an initial order. I will have to give this more thought next year to determine if the borderline harassment is worth the convenience of the all-in-one poster.
A representative called in July offering to send us updated labor law posters, he made it seem as though we had dealt with them before and quoted me around 60 dollars for the updated posters. When I received a statement for over 200 i called and left a message requesting a call back for more information. I never received that call back and then was contacted today stating they were prepping us for collections. I again asked for details told them we were mis-quoted and that we wanted to cancel the subscription incurring additional fees. She stated that they have a 7 day return policy and we are outside that. I told her we are in Alaska and it takes at least that long to receive anything. She said it was 7 days from the receipt of statement in the mail and even though i had originally called within that time and not received a call back they refused to cancel the additional charges. They are flat out scamming business and it it ridiculous!
I got my first set of labor / compliance posters from them when I opened my coffee shop. The following year when they wanted me to renew my posters and pay again, I said no thank you. They then continued to call me everyday even tho I asked not to be called again. They alluded to the fact that I was "out of compliance and the call was recorded" trying to string arm me into buying. After saying no at least 20 times, they then called my business line and spoke with one of the employees who repeatedly told them she was not a manager. She did confirm the address due to them saying the word compliance over and over. They then sent the posters and charged $391.
These guys try to use scare tactics stating you are out of compliance by not having these posters. If you say anything but "NO", they take that as a verbal confirmation and try to bill you. Needless to say, we had had IT block them from being able to contact us. Of course, they managed to slime their way through by calling the HR line. They did not identify themselves and simply asked to speak to the EHS representative. I let the lady talk for a few minutes and then just hung up. Losers.
I have used them in the past without issue so decided to order an updated Pennsylvania poster for the advertised $10 (unlaminated). Over the next month, my office has received 4 additional upsale calls "on a recorded line". At each call they tried to sell up federal posters, etc and were going to invoice us an additional $350! The first 3 calls we told them no thank you, just send the ordered poster. Today they called again and we told them about the 1st 3 calls and the lady was pushy and we cancelled our original order and told them to take us off their mailing list and do not call again! The sales lady asked if I was the owner and I said yes. I bet that is not the last call from them we get! AVOID the hassle. You can go on your state's website and get the local and federal posters for $25 I have heard so that is what I will do.
I recognized the mailer as a sketchy marketing technique (alert, must post, etc), but I thought it might be nice to have a "space-saver" laminated poster of state postings for a reasonable price and used the promo code to order it online for around $20. Then I got a follow-up call to confirm my shipping information and ask questions about my business. The rep then proceeded to tell me that what I needed to be in "fully" in compliance as an employer would cost around $280. I refused, but I wonder now if I'm going to be hounded by this company in the future and worry about what they are going to do with my information. I haven't seen my poster yet, but I don't care how great it is. I will not order from them again. Wish I had searched these reviews first.
I am experiencing exactly what many other people have shared. I am a small seasonal business that got sucked in briefly and cancelled almost immediately. They kept sending information to me that I didn't request and then started sending bills for documents that I didn't even receive. I am now on my second collection agency that is calling with threatening message. These people are obnoxious predators who should be shut down. Next stop is my Attorney General's Office for Consumer and Business Affairs. Their fraud department will shred them.
The process led me to believe that I was purchasing everything necessary to be in complete compliance both at the State and Federal Levels. Received a phone call as a follow-up that informed me that it was necessary to purchase more items. My opinion it that this process needs refining so as to not be misleading, but this is clearly a marketing strategy to generate more revenue. Thumbs up for the strategy, huge thumbs down for the misleading approach.
Scam, Scare Tactics. Do your research. You do not need any of this and if there is something you do need look up your state and requirements. The posters needed may be $25 not $400. I see you cannot review them on Google...
I worked@ Personnel Concepts for about 4 months. I would cry after I got off the phone with customers especially elders. I didnt know it was a scam when I started. When I finally figured out what was going on I just couldnt do it anymore. And they pay really good bonuses so that you will stay6 cus the money is do good. NOT WORTH IT! They lie every single day and dont feel at all bad for it. Most horrible company I have ever worked for. Dont fall for their lies
They prey on new business owner who is unfamiliar with the federal and state labor posting laws. After I placed the order online (total about $11), my office received several calls telling me what I had ordered does not meet requirements and non-compliance, blablablabla and I need to pay $259 to order something else to be compliance. This is not true! I understand that i can print those posting for free from Dept of Labor website. I just want something much smaller and more neat when I posted them in my office. After I repeatedly told them to cancel my order and refunded my money, all of a sudden my order was shipped. The order was shipped 2 weeks after i placed the order.
This is a sad business. I am sure they make good money by preying on small business owners. But all things come around.
Personal Concepts keep calling me all day and sent my information to credit collection to pay 265 even though I have not asked for any of their services. They are fraud pretending to be government agencies and attempting to collect money from new business owners. They sent you threatening messages telling you that you are not in complaints with Labor Laws. Such companies should not exist. All they attempt to do is to gather enough personal information from you so that they can keep scamming you or sent your name to collection as if you own them or sign up for the services
This comany sends you official looking material in the mail. The information lists the fines you can receive by not complying. I fell for it once. It cost over $100 to receive workplace posters that I could order from the Dept. of Workforce Development for $24. What's more they keep calling at least 3 times per week and want to discuss with me the procedures and the fact I am not in compliance. I am in compliance Thanks to DWD! I cannot believe this business is still around and why would anyone want to work for such a dishonest company? I wish I had researched this before purchasing the posters from them!
ALL NEW BUSINESS OWNERS BEWARE!
Once you are publicly listed your information is out there for all to see including scammers. See the attached. All posters are FREE and can be downloaded.
I unfortunately, excited to start my entrepreneur journey, assumed I needed these. I did question why and I advised PC that I worked from home [pre-covid and post-coved] which PC advised I would need these if anyone were to work in my home. BS!
In my attachment you can see the DOL provides all this information for FREE. Google it. Also, if you have questions contact your STATE DOL directly before purchasing anything. Something I wish I did.
Since I would not repurchase I have received their latest scare tactic for another $20 plus $6 for shipping for posters to stay compliant and AGAIN you can get for FREE!
See the flip side of this paper claims "WE PAY THE FINE" against government fines has expired which can amount to $35k. Think about it for every 100 people they scam for $26 PC rakes in $26,000 and according to one review who is in OHIO they are reaching across state lines.
SO... do not purchase a thing download for FREE.
STAY UP TO DATE DOWNLOADING the POSTER you need OFF YOUR STATE DOL website and if unclear CALL YOUR STATE DOL.
NOTE: They don't deserve even one star.
My wife and I opened a new design company and within a couple weeks we were receiving letters from them stating that we plate out of compliance and need to pay almost $100 for a poster to display. My wife opened the letter and saw the possible fines for not having this poster. Thinking the $100 was better than the $30,000 fine we purchased one. Now not only did we pay for something we could have gotten for free, we STILL HAVEN'T EVEN RECEIVED THE POSTER, but we just received ANOTHER letter stating we are "out of compliance". Hahaha, 100% a scam that comes out of a state of criminals with government complicity.
Do NOT pay a CENT to these scammers.
My advice to any new business owner, do your research. There's a lot of people that want to steal you money and will do anything they can to get it. No matter how "official" something looks, verify, verify, VERIFY!
How in the hell is anyone supposed to take a California company who uses intimidation to tell me how to govern my OHIO store? These and every tele-scam-ahole need to be pulled from their blankets in the middle of the night, locked in a blank room with 2000 actively ringing phones glued to the wall. Or taken out and back and $#0+!
I was bilked out of $200 from this firm for "poster" sized documents that were too big for my office. I don't know how this organization is still allowed to conduct business. Get what you need FOR FREE from your state's Department of Labor.
Answer: This is an absolute scam. They called to confirm the order, which I thought was weird, but whatever. They lied to me about what my boss ordered and what should have been a $25 order ended up being well over $200. They also lied to me about what we needed. I work for an employment lawyer so my boss knew what we need to have up in the office. We called to cancel the order and they refused saying that it had already been shipped, but the tracking information said that the label had been created and that it had not been shipped yet. They did say that we could refuse the package when it arrived and we could get a full refund. I was annoyed, but decided not to fight it anymore. About an hour ago my unwanted package was delivered in a tube without a top on it. The only way to refuse a package is if it is unopened. Since it arrived unopened we couldn't refuse it. I went to the post office to see if there was some loophole and they said that since I couldn't prove it arrived open, there was nothing they could do. Since it arrived open, the posters were damaged. I called Personnel Concepts to get a refund for damaged product, but they said that they were not responsible for any damaged product and refused to give us a refund. They said that if we paid out of pocket to send it back that they would give us a refund. However we're mad because they lied to us about what we need and what we ordered. It is wrong that they lied and it is wrong that they refused to cancel the shipment and it is wrong that they are expecting us to pay for a damaged product that we didn't even want to begin with.
