The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

WORST COMPANY EVER! And the sad part is, you won't even see it coming. After nearly a decade with them and ZERO complaints or disputes in my account from customers, they claimed that I was a "security risk" and closed my account without any notice or explanation. On top of it, they froze my money for 6 MONTHS! When I asked what I had done, they said it was "proprietary information" and refused to even give me a reason. Imagine THAT! No bank on this side of the globe would ever have the audacity (or legal right) to freeze funds (AKA hold and use a customer's money to collect interest for their own profitable gain) for that long and without a valid reason! The very idea is prosperous and yet they do it day after day. They masquerade as a sort of bank and "merchant" but they are NOT a bank or merchant and do not have to adhere to the rules and regulations that banks and merchants do... rules and regulations that were set up to protect US the consumers. Think about THAT.
And the very best part is, when they finally do shut you down on that day you won't see coming, your entire financial future (and often times, the future of your online business) will be placed in the hands of some pimpled face, heartless support jerk who is straight out of high school and reading off some scripted paper. That's the courtesy Paypal gives you after a decade of your business.
So yeah, use them if you're desperate and stupid, and probably for a while, everything will be fine but just like that when you least expect it (and probably have the most amount of money in your account) they will shut you down without a warning or even the courtesy of giving you a damn reason. Do yourself a favor and FIND AN ALTERNATIVE!
Great way of paying for stuff or sending money or accepting money. There are only 2 things that bother me, One is that their fees are ridiculous and second is that they dont allow inter-India transactions.
Thank you for your comments. I have had to use PayPal as a necessary evil. I found it was OK until I had to have some money transferred to MY account! They charge something like 3% just to accept money into your account. This is a waste of money at any level. More competition for them would help those of us that must use them.
Transactions to your bank account need to clear faster than 3-4 days, but other than that, paypal is a good online banking site.
Paypal was ok. I am very new to the site but overall is okay. I cannot stand the wait for money and the delayed payment system.
Where do I start?
The unexplained limited accounts?
My frozen money that they have?
The disgusting call service, including getting hung up on and saying to me that PayPal don't want me and never will?
The stories I've read when I have turned into a disgruntled customer?
'paypal sucks.com' and 'screw paypal.com' (regular people losing thousands and thousands of dollars for no reason)
I have been a customer for years, no problems. Changed my account details (address) and day later limited account, I rang them, got disgusting service, 10 minutes later account frozen, lost over a thousand dollars.
Tried to start a LEGIT eBay store, selling random items from kids toys to lights to common household items. I sell 3 things, receive payment for 2 and 1 got limited. My customer asks why I'm late to send item, I say accounts been frozen, money hasn't come in. I send item anyway, thinking it wr be ok. Talk to PayPal, frozen account, money didn't come in, money went back to customer with my items sent. I don't care about sending my items, the point I'm making is that PayPal couldn't care less that your trying to run a business where your trying to make your customers happy. They just get involved, take your money and be $#*!s on the phone.
Absolutely disgusting.
If they don't improve, more of the general public will soon be ripped off by them and then soon enough people will find an alternative and see you later payFraud.
I use paypal very frequently for a variety of purchases, money transfers, etc. I use it to pay if it is an option (which is my preference). There are organizations that I transfer money to on a regular basis and paypal makes this very easy. Have not ever had a problem with it. I feel comfortable knowing my transaction is secure and don't have to worry about my information being sold or stolen. I like it and will continue to use it.
I have used this site for several years both to buy and sell merchandise. I have bought items from other websites and from e-bay quite successfully. They have worked well when something did not go right with the sale. I also have directed events that required registration online and used Paypal so people could use their credit cards. It has been great! We have even had sponsors contribute through Paypal. I have also sold merchandise and people have paid with this site. I highly recommend it.
I have sold a few widgets on eBay. Granted most of my business was on the river, still made a few sales on eBay. I have a history of almost 100 positive fb. I sold a few items this month, and PayPal is holding my funds for no reason. Oh well, of course they replied to my email listing a bunch of reasons none of which applied to me. One of the items sold, is received by the buyer, who gave me a 5-star positive fb, saying that my packaging was amazing & put it in all caps. Still PayPal is sitting on my money and won't release it.
BEWARE - your money is at risk. Besides, PayPal is not covered by FDIC/FSLIC insurance like the banks do, so if they go belly up, your money is gone. If this ever happens though, I'm throwing a party.
PayPal's dispute resolution is awesome and quick! They really seemed interested in doing the right thing by us. Our complaint was resolved in our favor in less than two weeks.
I've used them a lot and never had a problem. From now on I will always use PayPal for payment when this is an option. If you feel that you have been ripped off they will very carefully review your complaint, and keep you informed every step along the process so you know they have not forgotten about you.
Thank you PayPal for making us feel like valued customers.
Paypal is most popular now. But they hold my payment for 21 days. It's very long time for me...
I have used Paypal many time even when I was on ebay purchasing items it is a very save way to pay for your items. There website is very safe to use I have found no problems.
Paypal seem to have really cleaned up their act in recent years, I had many problems with them in the early days but recently have needed help with a few issues and have been impressed by their support.
After an insane run-around ( unfortunately, too typical of e-business "customer service" now-days), I finally got a person that did NOT give me a SCRIPTED response with a rip-off issue I had with a seller! A lucid, empathetic, Customer Service Rep got to the bottom of a time-consuming, dragged-out, transaction dispute. Kudos!
This is normally a good service if you don't do anything out of the ordinary for transactions. I have never had a problem until their recent "hold" policy change. I have never had a dispute as a seller but for some reason an Ebay payment has been in "pending" status since August. According to the website they should only hold for 21 days but this has been months. No reason is stated and no disputes are pending? The bad thing is the "contact us" page does not work and I can not even find out why my money is on hold. I guess I will have to close the account to get my money.
I HATE this website. I did everything they told me to do and won't give me my money. I had $159.00 from a bank tranfer and they froze my account. Cant get a hold of them. NOT HAPPY..
For buyers paypal is great. For sellers, paypal will hold your funds, close your account for no reason, and keep your money for up to 6 months! Seller beware!
Always sides on the customers side with eBay. Not good for the seller because they are alot of scams on eBay. You state the return policy of 7 days then 30 days latter customer return through Paypal. This is not fair.
I got my account limited 3 times and I got like a permanent suspension. Now I'm back with them after I sent tons of documents and faxes.
Fine company but I wish they'll have a strong competitor in near future.

Answer: I would not recommend PayPal to anyone for anything they're a joke of a business
Answer: Paypal will NOT be on your side if the item is not as described. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
Answer: They have become a money laundry scamming allowing company. Stay away at any cost.
Answer: USPS delievered it to the wrong address my pacakge was supposed to be delievered too 35710 Bay Morgan Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028 when USPS delivered it to an address simillar to this one 12354 Alcatal Street (do not know the exact address since they did not email me, but you can call USPS and ask, and that is how I found out) Fallbrook, CA 92028, right city and zip code, far away address.
Answer: I'm thinking someone has to work there, if you send messages you will get a canned reply, I get the same response from 10 messages, basically "suck it up buttercup, you have just been played" but if you try to actually talk to a person good luck.
Answer: They dont. They wait for you to forget it. You get money back if you fill in a form after 180 days.
Answer: Do never send money to PayPal. That money is lost. This company has become a Giants money laundry company.
Answer: No there is not. PayPal protects scammers. Be sure to never use them.
Answer: It doesn't matter if you report them or not PayPal won't do nothing about it they continued to let the scammers operate on their site and do not protect consumers
Answer: SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THAT LOT, THEY CLAIM TO REFUND AMOUNTS PAID FOR ITEMS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE THATS "BS" I HAVE HAD 3 SUCH CLAIMS FROM 14 TRANSACTIONS AND HAVE NEVER GOT A REFUND DESPITE THEIR CLAIMS, THEY ARE CROOKS, FULL STOP, KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THEM.
