The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

Their fees are too high and they don't protect you unless its an ebay item. I bought something from a company on craigslist and I disputing saying the item was not as described and they said OH if its not an ebay item then we can't protect you.
While I do use paypal and will continue to use paypal into the future I do have to agree with many that there are alot of problems surrounding paypal. I personally have dealt with issues even though I use paypal almost exclusively for ebay and I have never had a complaint filed against me AND I have 100% feedback both as a buyer and a seller on ebay. I have also seen them screw over perfectly innocent people due to issues caused by other paypal users they have done business with in the past. To the point where I know several people who have been screwed out of fairly large sums of money by them. Even with all this said though like i said above i do still use paypal and will continue because even with all the crap they give their users it is only for our own protection in 99.99% of cases even if it doesnt seem like it at the time.
I've been using PayPal for few years now and haven`t had any issues.
I use this website as a checkout for a website and I have a couple credit cards from them.
Firstly: I used paypal a lot so I decided to get their credit card (a wayy while back). (mind you, I have 0 credit) I was easily accepted for their card and had a limit of a whopping $2,000. This is where things go bad though. My first 2 payments were late, not because I didn't pay on time but because they put my payments on hold... for 2 weeks the first time and almost 2 weeks the second month. I called and had to argue with them to release my payment. It was awesome going to a fancy restaurant and having my card declined. Glad I brought cash.
Pros: Everybody uses paypal. Its very easy to use. Simple if you are selling things, and selling fees aren't bad.
Cons: HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SUPPORT! They are sooooooo bad. Can't understand them, and often you have to go through some crazy negotiation to get things done.!?!?!? Credit Card system is really messed up.
They customer service and buyer's protection is virtually non existent. The last time i actually SPOKE to a representative she sounded high, making no sense whatsoever. I got scammed by somebody and filed a dispute (two actually for the same person, same issue) the decided FOR me for the lesser amount but AGAINST me for the higher amount. Makes you wonder doesnt it?
I have been buying things online for years. Along time ago I wanted to buy vhs tapes through a bidding process from Ebay. When you become an e-bayer there are not a whole lot of ways to send money to the sellers. They are all different. Some want credit cards some want money orders and so forth. But some especially want you to make payment to them through a site called Paypal. Well at first I had no idea what this site was about or how it worked or anything. I was attempting to bid for movies and if I won the bid I had to have a secure way to send them money fast. So I went to the Paypal site and e-mailed to ask questions on how it worked. They e-mailed me back explaining everything that I needed to do to set up an account with them. It was very simple. The idea is to open an account with then and then you can transfer funds from your checking account directly into your Paypal account. It takes just a few days for the money to be available. After the money gets there you simple pay the seller by sending them the payment through your Paypal account. It is a very secure safe site. I have never had any problems with Paypal there great and can be trusted with your personal information. So if you need to buy something online, a lot of sellers except Paypal. Recently Paypal split from Ebay and has become much worse in customer service. After being ripped off just last week for a Paypal prepaid card. I asked Paypal to give a courtesy credit for a lousy $1.50 until my transfer came through from my bank to pay the Ebay seller today. If the prepaid card service would have not taken 4.95 off the card without letting me know That is why I can't pay the Ebay right now. Please my read the review for the Paypal prepaid master card as well. This is why I have edited the review
My only problem with PayPal is that when a refund is made it takes a long while to display on your card, well I love using PayPal for ebay, cos their refund policy with ebay is a bit strong
Never never trust paypal with your details!
Upon trying to close the account, I am told that the account is closed, but I still have access to it.(I can't use it though). BUT this is the problem... they do NOT delete your details banks etc, and personal details.
So they are always there, and according to paypal alays will be.
This is surely wrong?
If I wanted them to keep my details, fine, but I don't want them to.
They are my details and private information, I want to try to get it deleted.
Any ideas who can help?
Just because they are big doesnt mean that they an do what they blike!
Have been using PayPal for a few years now, never had a problem until this month when I purchased a product which turned out to be a scam. I successfully got a refund from the place that I purchased the product from, however - PayPal held the payment for 23 days, there was little or no contact from their customer services when I sent for customer support and instead of refunding my card they have refunded it to my PayPal account which I will probably have to keep there now until I decide to purchase something else through the web.
Very frustrating couple of weeks dealing with PayPal.
I was contacted by you via email, telling me there was suspicious activity on my debit card. Please confirm that it was you. They wanted all my information ss#-bank acct# phone#etc. I haven't used paypal in years and only used on Ebay. Please contact me at:
A very cool service indeed. I think it put internet payment industry bottom up with its sheer scale.
Used them for 2 years now and completely satisfied.
Thank you
Their policies regarding fradulant services are non-existent. (literally)
I recently got scammed for hundreds by a website which offers gaming services.
Paypal will do absolutely nothing about it.
Although, I have proof of their fradulant activity (via chat logs, transactions, etc.),
In addition to their own site showing blatant evidence of their own fradulant activity
(the service in question was basically myself paying them by the hour for their work; their site states
Guaranteed duration of time it'll take, in addition to start date, current status, and every other evidence
One needs to explicitly know they are not honouring their own terms, in addition to the legal
Terms and conditions they themselves provide on the website.)
And mind you, these scammers are verified paypal account holders.
I've already found a handful of people online by just googling these guys, who have also been
Scammed. And I'm guessing they too lost money due to Paypal's neglect.
I used Paypal, thinking it would be a more safer way to do transaction online, but they are
Much, MUCH worse than credit card companies.
At least Creditcard companies take into account what has occured and try what they can to resolve the issue,
Instead of just out right rejecting the problem.
(I can't believe I'm actually saying the Creditcard companies are good for something)
Last time I'm going to utilize paypal.
(Not to mention their biased exchange rates also play a factor)
Internet transaction Services like Paypal are lagging behind.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is pretty much available online now.
Anything from food to services can be ordered online.
Thus they need to expand their policies to account for such.
They do not.
I've been using paypal for some years now with no issues. I like it because it's convenient and I feel secure when using it. I hate to not use it now with identity theft becoming so popular.
For those of you who complain about being ripped off by sites, you need this layer of protection between you and the bad guys. I lean towards merchants who use this method of payment. NO MORE REPEATING MONTHLY CHARGES UNLESS YOU AGREE EACH MONTH!
Refused to help with freezing a paypal account that was established by a hacker who hacked into my ebay account, setup a fradulent paypal account with my name and used that to receive funds from items sold on ebay and charged the seller fees to my own paypal account linked to my ebay account.
PayPal was completely unhelpful and absolutely refused to even try and grasp the methodology of the hacker or do any thing to even remotely help out.
Over the years, I have used paypal as a convenient way to pay for items online and it is very good in that regard. If however you think that paypal buyer "protections" mean anything, shame on you. On a mere handful of occasions I have had problems with an online retailer, the worst involved a website and a pair of boots (a review on that later) that literally took so long to get, that paypal felt the transaction occurred too long ago for there to be problem. The transaction expired. What the heck? If I know where the money's going, good deal, it the transaction is uncharted territory... Caveat Emptor.
I have not had any problems with my paypal account. I'v been a member for about 3 years & don't like online shopping with out it.
Paypal is great - until you have a problem, which is bound to happen sooner or later, then you realise just how much it stinks. You read the terms and conditions and, with a sinking feeling, you realise you have just given several hundred pounds to a fraudster and they will do nothing about it. The T&C give them absolute right to decide in either parties favour, for any or no reason. There are thousands of scammers exploiting the loopholes and sooner or later you will get scammed, whether buyer or seller. When you are, you might just as well have put cash in an envelope and dropped it on the street - this is how much protection you really get. They don't want to see the evidence, and even if you can prove someone is fraudulently or illegally trading they will give them at least two chances (they would not tell me how many but said it was more than one).
If only we get enough people together we could call them to account, but who is prepared to fight a company this size over a few hundred £ $ E or whatever.
USE A CREDIT CARD YOU ARE PROTECTED BY LAW.
Answer: I would not recommend PayPal to anyone for anything they're a joke of a business
Answer: Paypal will NOT be on your side if the item is not as described. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
Answer: They have become a money laundry scamming allowing company. Stay away at any cost.
Answer: USPS delievered it to the wrong address my pacakge was supposed to be delievered too 35710 Bay Morgan Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028 when USPS delivered it to an address simillar to this one 12354 Alcatal Street (do not know the exact address since they did not email me, but you can call USPS and ask, and that is how I found out) Fallbrook, CA 92028, right city and zip code, far away address.
Answer: I'm thinking someone has to work there, if you send messages you will get a canned reply, I get the same response from 10 messages, basically "suck it up buttercup, you have just been played" but if you try to actually talk to a person good luck.
Answer: They dont. They wait for you to forget it. You get money back if you fill in a form after 180 days.
Answer: Do never send money to PayPal. That money is lost. This company has become a Giants money laundry company.
Answer: No there is not. PayPal protects scammers. Be sure to never use them.
Answer: It doesn't matter if you report them or not PayPal won't do nothing about it they continued to let the scammers operate on their site and do not protect consumers
Answer: SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THAT LOT, THEY CLAIM TO REFUND AMOUNTS PAID FOR ITEMS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE THATS "BS" I HAVE HAD 3 SUCH CLAIMS FROM 14 TRANSACTIONS AND HAVE NEVER GOT A REFUND DESPITE THEIR CLAIMS, THEY ARE CROOKS, FULL STOP, KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THEM.
