I was able to find replacement parts for laptops that Dell no longer supported. The replacements were new, not refurbished. In one case, I was totally surprised to find it since the laptops were more than 5 years old. Delivery was prompt better than promised. Very pleased with this service.

I needed to replace the entire touch screen and upper lid assembly on a 1.5 yr old Inspiron. With Dell's inventory cycle, Dell was not distributing these parts. With low inventory, suppliers were gouging prices (including used on Ebay). Parts-People had new, genuine parts at very fair market prices. In addition, their computer model parts search engine on their website makes finding the CORRECT parts incredibly simple. Parts-People will be my go to source for computer parts and I will share my experience with other IT professionals I know.

Check before install?

After I installed the motherboard and have my laptop running, I felt a release that finally I got the cause of the problem. Something inside the old board was causing the video signal not showing up on the LCD screen but in an external monitor.
However my euforia was short live when I realice that the WiFi wasn't working. I didn't have that problem before. So removing the motherboard I discover that the switch that turn on/off the WiFi was broken. I couldn't believe my luck.

Here it is my dilema, could I damage it myself installing the board or it was broken when it arrived? Honestly I don't know and certainly I didn't force the board in place, there is no need for. The little switch is located at the corner of the board that is closest to the fan. It is not really protected like if it is in the middle of a board's side. Anyway I'm stuck with it and I'm trying to swap the bad switch from the new board with the good one from the old board. Not an ease task I'm telling you.

So, the lesson learned is, check your part carefully before install.

I've purchased from parts-people for several years. They're an extremely ethical and helpful company. They noticed that I had purchased an incorrect part for the refurbished laptop I was buying. They let me know and saved me money. What awesome customer service. I will definitely buy from parts-people again. I really wish more companies were this good.

Bummer on the shipping

I finally got the part and it was not the issue with the laptop. Looks like the motherboard will be my next purchase. This part was shipped via USPS. A tiny part that fit in a letter size package and it was almost 5 days overdue. USPS kept saying the next day---the next day. This is the third USPS (only one of these was from Parts-people) in the last 2 weeks and everyone is late. I am giving you a 4 for the part (I am sure it was a good part---just not the one for the issue). Taking off one for shipping USPS.

Could be better

I ordered a replacement laptop keyboard that was delivered very promptly; no complaint there. It came without the ribbon cable so I had to remove my old ribbon for reuse with this keyboard. I would have been happier if the keyboard came with a cable. I ordered a replacement cable but still having problems.

I tend to purchase my electronics from Amazon or B&H. I had a friend who needed her computer repaired. Unable to find the correct parts on my favorite sites, I did the "sketchy" way of finding it by just Google searching the part number. Parts-people came up, and seemed to be the only site that actually sold the exact part I needed.
I really liked the field where I could enter my computer's service tag to see if the part was compatible.
The shipping speed was really good. Although there is no free shipping option, it was fairly cheap and is definitely fast enough for computer repair turnarounds.

The only thing I did not appreciate is that it would not accept my debit card, it could only take a credit card.

Overall I am very pleased.
