OfferUp Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.

Now with shipping listings you hardly see anything in your area. I used this site to buy things close by and save on shipping. Way too many people make offers then poof they are gone, without any more replies

Just went onto the site. Many stale items gathering cobwebs. Also I don't need OfferUp to look at local stores or Wal-Mart. I have the distinct feeling that those who are selling their items are looking for a fairly reasonable price - certainly not looking to 'get rid of anything' - it's a hobby. My time can be better spent elsewhere.

Listings are only visible for about a week then the system expects you to pay $1.99 and up to promote your item (cost prohibitive for small item multiunit sellers). Nationwide shipping charge is $5 minimum enough to deter small item sales from ever happening (usps first class rate is $2.66). Lots of tire kickers be they local or nationwide. I did a few sales in 5/2018 then everything stopped. The only way to get more action is to painstakingly relist all my items. Not fun, inefficient and not a workable business model.

People send you emails asking if its available. You take the time to respond back and say yes. Then you never hear back. Whats that about?

Hit & miss on people actually showing up. A lot of low all offers (under half of listed price even when reasonable and fair). A lot of items on the site which are sold but not cleared off the site. People post the item name but no description and searches don't produce enough. When I search by a price range, I get a lot of ads for the same items but WAY over my price range. A lot of doubles due to "promoted" feature Offer Up sells.

I sold three items and the people all received and had no issues. Had a total of $300 (approx) I was paid for one item and it was cheapest! They don't answer emails and when they do you receive BS form answers! I will serve them with papers! Thieves!

They restrict you from selling certain items. Tried to sell a vaporizer pens and Ive sold them on other apps but this app wouldnt let me sell it. And Ive done thousands of dollars worth of business with them and now theyre telling me they cant sell certain items that Ive sold other places. I will take my business elsewhere now because offer up has really let me down and causing me a great inconvenience.

I've found that most responses come either when you've just listed an item and "users" send LOWBALL offers or a long time after your listing, which typically is "do you still have this". When I answer yes, there is no further contact. Obviously they try to keep you listing. The process of keeping things current is FAR too much work unless you pay them. I'd rather pay ebay 10% and get a reasonable price than give things away on this HORRIBLE site.

Complete BS
April 12, 2018

I placed several items under the furniture category. People would reply "where are you located?" Your post shows where you are! I think it's phony bots replying to your ad to encourage you to keep using their site. I want to give them no stars!

Mediocre at best
April 8, 2018

OfferUp is mediocre at best. They really need to get their act together. Here is why:

1. Thousands of ads are posted by scammers and OfferUp does NOTHING about it even when you report them. Example: (likely stolen) https://offerup.com/item/detail/*******/

2. The App has 4 YEAR old ads which the sellers haven't updated nor are they responding but OfferUp keeps them active regardless.
Example: https://offerup.com/item/detail/*******/

3. Very few sellers actually respond to inquiries - probably because the items are sold and OfferUp has no mechanism to purge old ads.

4. Navigation on the App & website is counter intuitive. You can't even delete messages (seriously?). Also, to block someone, you have to report them first, why?

5. They make all searches nationwide. I don't want shipping, I would use eBay if I did. I deal with local sellers/buyers only. If you cracked down on all the scammers on your app, I might consider shipping deals but until then, HELL NO!

Offer up is a scam
March 27, 2018

In all the years i advertised my personal property for sale i have never sold 1 item off that app. Then i noticed there were ads from feebay, jacks small engines, walmart ect, on there. Feebay has their own selling site that charges outrages fees which offer up does not, which is why i dropped feebay to sell on offer up. Then walmart and jacks small engines have their own selling sites. So trying to get a message to the people running offer up, which there is no contact us link, to inquire about it, i had to post a ad titled why are those other seller sites allowed to advertise on offerup with a old pair of shoes as thew picture and 15 minutes later my account was shut off, and not allowed to even open and delete my items. I will never recommend anyone use that app period.

They locked my account for absolutely no reason. I was a TruYou member and 30+ ratings of 5 star each. I contacted them multiple times, with absolutely ZERO response. You cannot get worst service than these people. They have zero business comm skill, no workflows and the App sucks. Actually the APP never showed me the account status anyway. I cannot imagine am immature APP like this made it; s way through App stores and Google play.

Mediocre App
March 3, 2018

If all you're looking for is another sales app. With NO carryover to a computer platform, non-intuitive, and cluttered with items that have already sold then this is your app. But there are other apps with improved features that offer attentive customer service and multi-device compatibility that are much better.

2 days ago I notice no one was responding to not one of my offers that I made on there items and had not posted any thing for sale since 2 week ago, so I logged out and tried logging back in and it would not let me log in.I contacted offer up support asking waht could be done to fix my signing in problem and they replied back 3 hours later saying my account was deleted because I sold drugs on offer up, So I replied back saying I have never attempted or sold any drugs on offer up and they have me mixed up with some one else.

Then asked them to prove to me that I sold drug on offerup and a person named Hunter replied back saying he did investigation and found no such thing on my offerup account showing that I sold any drugs but my account could not be reset and that I'm not welcome on offer up, also stated that was the last message and they would not be responding to anymore of my messages. Like I said they lie and never gave me a real reason. The problem here is they have competive aggressive sellers on offer up that that think there running offer up and when they see a seller selling more items or for low price they fisrt they truble the seller then complain to offer up with false information to get others removed. Also some of the offerup staff members protect there friends accounts that has store front on offerup.

I have saved all the reply emails as proof so I can go higher management and complain.I will not let this issue go with solving or getting a real reason from offerup.

This app makes it easy to sell your used items. Just open the app take a picture, name your price and get offers from people in your area. I sold a few old toys and a couple couches within a couple hours.

Useless. Never would let me sign up. It kept showing an error code in the middle of the page - before you enter anything:

An internal error occurred: 565EAA44DA590. A*******. B3BC9

To make matters worse, when I first signed up with a burner email for safety, it did not get me to enter the password twice for verification. A simple measure for safety, as I think I hit another number in my password!

The ads are so small you need a microscope to see them! No way to open a tab, let alone mutiple tabs to compare. Endless length of webpage, to greatly slow everything down!

* Haha. I just signed up here to add my comment, and these guys have that same sign up single password entry foolishness!

I got 6 offeres on my mic. I accepted all their offers, then they all never responded. Why do people make a $#*!in offer, then not respond back? Its happened on other items too. Its not offerup's fault, It's the buyers' fault.
