I have benefited from being part of the Nextdoor community. I have seen pets and owners being reunited within the hour because of the quick alerts that people are able to post; I have used Nextdoor to sell stuff, to receive recommendations from my neighbors; it's always a great tool for crime watch.
I really like reading all the posts and interacting with ones that interest me. I've gotten help and advice from neighbors on Nextdoor when I needed it. But I keep getting bumped off from getting the on-going posts. I don't have time to keep emailing the volunteers at Nextdoor who somehow think it's my spam folder or browser at fault (it isn't). I wish I wouldn't keep getting bumped off.
Seems like those with power at Nextdoor don't always understand what they are censoring/taking down, and or disagree with it, so take it down. Seriously, not allowing astronomy posts because they are not "local"?! Those were my favorite and the most interesting posts I have ever seen on Nextdoor. Well done.
Excellent way for people to connect and know what is going on in their neighborhood,,,,,,,,,...
Don't like fighting. If they have a dispute with a neighbor, walk over and talk with them. It should not be on line.
I LOVE nextdoor! It is great to keep in touch with the neighborhood, sell things, get recommendations, etc! Only negative is that I can never get the app on my phone to open.
Through Nextdoor and with neighbors recommendations we've found our painter, pet sitters, cleaning crew (probably even more but I can't remember) plus we've sold and given away many items, and joined a Bunco group resulting in new great friends! Plus it's a great tool to keep up with what's happening in the area.
Unfortunately some folks can be overly sarcastic and opinionated of other's posts.
This site is a wonderful way to interact with neighbors and learn about what is going on in your neighborhood.
NextDoor amazes me. Neighbors helping neighbors, recommendations, advice, lost pets etc. It has made me much more aware of issues in my neighborhood both good and bad.
I have been pleased with the overall experience of using the Nextdoor platform. It provides users with many opportunities to share information with others in a user-friendly way. One suggestion would be to find a better way to have users promote their businesses/side jobs as many use the general feed to do so even though there is a business section for that purpose.
I have lived here for 14 yrs and even though walking the dog on these beautiful tree lined streets has brought many people together with waves and greetings it doesn't really tell us the whole picture of what is taking place. With the building of new housing, and families joining our neighborhood as well as leaving there is much more news to share. I love the "items for sale" to which I personally used, problems to watch out for to keep our homes safe, to mention just a few. This is an easy way to be part of a community to which you live.
I enjoy reading all the events and happenings in the neighborhood. Also love the classifieds. My only complaint is that people leave posts up too long that are no longer relevant.
I've used and referred people to Nextdoor.
I work in retail and a lot of our customers are elderly and if they have repair issues, and no help, I suggest they check Nextdoor and check reviews.
My husband advertises on this website for his handyman business and hasn't been able to correct an issue and can't get FIND anyone to assist him. He needs help*******109-Oded Davidoff
Love this site especially with the list and found pets, and peoples referrals for different needs. I also like the for sale listings because they will be close by to pick up.
Experience has been quite good. Sending the postcards to invite new members to join is easy. I also like the changes to the daily "newsletter" that puts all the realtor and seller stuff at the end where I don't have to scroll through it unless I want to.
Nextdoor has been very helpful to me. Sometimes I don't get why posts are deleted as inappropriate when others that get on the podium are left. There seems to be no consistency but other than that I think it is great and very helpful.
I like Nextdoor when people actually share information, incidents, lost or found pets, etc. But when some people attack other posters, it turns me off and I usually delete the entire conversation. I wish people could be kinder to each other.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
