This is considered a social media site I think. I don't do the facebook, twitter etc., so this is nice for me. I've recruited 100+ of the neighbors in our 180 home Neighborhood Assoc. When posting an event or information regarding our Assoc. I send it to our members only, I get very few responses which makes me think they don't understand and that the site is hard to follow with very minimal information on how to navigate it. It always takes me quite a few attempts to post things, but I am older and not real familiar with all the in's and outs of doing this, I'd like to think that this could be more simple. Members tell me they are not interested in the lost dogs across town, and the lady wanting a lawn person, or a babysitter 15 miles away, I think you get my jist. I don't post much, it's an effort, and I hate to see that wasted because they can't figure it out. Thanks.
It's a good idea to sign up for this. It keeps you aware of happenings in your neighborhood. Creepy characters asking for money, stolen packages etc
I find ND to be helpful in staying connected to what is happening in the area. It is helpful to be alerted to possible suspicious activities, list pets, and how to help those in need.
I am happy with the information given by neighbors regarding our neighborhood. I'm kept up to date regarding lost pets, wild animal sitings (bears, deer) and road conditions. This was very useful after our recent blizzard. Plus if there are any suspicious people wandering the streets.
i like Next Door because i learn about services and items for sale. Also community news.
I have used it to get rid of rocks i no longer needed. Have told others about it.
Nextdoor is extremely helpful for anything! I would recommend anyone in a community to use it. It is easy and many if not all my neighbors are on it.
Its great to be on contact with all your neighbors but some people use it as there Facebook page.
I have lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years and somehow I still can't say I know 20 neighbors. I hardly get to meet or interact with them. I just see them driving by in their cars and at times going with their dogs. Nextdoor got me a bit closer to my own neighborhood. At least I know their names now and know few of their issues and activities. That's great of Nextdoor.
Very happy with recommendations received including a job. Why am I no longer receiving the daily email? Definitely missing neighborhood news..
In our neighborhood we share, we have had several lost dogs or bad people around and this app lets us get in touch safe and fast. Even helping neighbor find services and recommendations if you don't have it get it and encourage your friends and family do add to it aswell.
Great tool for spreading info on local happenings as well as locating business & services you wouldn't otherwise know about.
I appreciate our pocket of neighborhood, we are safe and helpful community and please keep up the good work.
Nothing bad except as a Neighborhood Lead, I am unable to decline a neighbor when asked to verify new neighbors? When I am asked to verify an obviously fake submission (silly name, street address not in neighborhood or is a business) I cannot decline? The only option is to approve and then it sits in verification filed forever?
I enjoy it thoroughly
It is really cool without a doubt
Good for networking and connecting with others who are local
I've had great luck finding housemates and people to do various kinds of work for me, especially yardwork. Also good to find out about local things happening. I've also been frustrated at how some people take over threads and make rude and obnoxious comments and the leads never seem to do anything about it.
I am very satisfied with Nextdoor. It has current information that I care about. We even adopted our two new kittens from a post on Nextdoor.
The only problem I have with this site is when you post an event, it only goes through the Home Page once. People forget about events and do not check the events page. There should be an option where you can remind everyone about an event letting you post it again on the Home Page so people can see it.
This is great for information about the neighbor. It is very rewarding and make the neighbor safer. I would gladly recommend it to everyone
This is the biggest joke ever can't voice any opinions or you get a message from Tenisha telling you that you can't do that then they block you who do you think you are who gives you the right to dictate oh you have no right
If it's about your Neighborhood, everyone and you from your neighborhood, reports about anything and everything. What happen, when it happen, and how it happen. New neighbor's, new store's, new shops, what more can you ask for. It's best to know what surround you than not to know. Your choice...
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
