Nextdoor is a good tool/resource for sharing things with people in your neighborhood. Free items to share or safety information. Just a nice way to stay connected to your neighbors in our ever fast paced lives.
For obvious commercial reasons (being able to put commercials ahead of user-posted content) Nextdoor has decided that it will default to display those postings selected by it's computer, instead of presenting postings in chronological order as it has done in the past. Comments and complaints to Nextdoor have gone unheeded. Nextdoor is still useful for neighborhood information, but they have clearly sold out to their marketing department.
Nextdoor unites neighbors by creating a forum where advice can be found about any local interests or needs. Free or 'for-sale' items can be listed, contractor and service providers reviewed, and hints for dealing with everything from parking tickets to roof repairs. The ability to post questions publicly and then continue via direct private messages makes it a safe space for sharing important information.
I love Nextdoor.com because it keeps me connected to neighbors I have and haven't met, it alerts me to lost pets and to activity in my area that I should know about. I also love that APD and the City post alerts to us on here as well!
It is great to learn what is happening in our "hood". Selling items, buying items. Making new friends. I love being a part of our group!
I check on this website at least once a day. So far it has helped several members find their lost pets and share their stories with us. I always know when prowlers are lurking and anything weird or dangerous is happening in our neighborhood as well as local events taking place.
I do enjoy Nextdoor it is informative about my local area. Mostly from the neighbors but also from the county on thing going on. It is also useful for getting recommendation of local companies.
It's a great way to keep in touch with what is happening around your area. I wish sometimes people would keep their negative comments out of the posts. Sometimes it is just mean not constructive at all. That would be my only negative comment
Great place to keep up on whats going on in your neighborhood and city. From trash pickup to recycling to thefts and breakins. Lets you keep up with your neighbors and to ask for help with prijects
I look into Nextdoor several times a day to see sales, free items, neighborhood information and local planning highlights as well as info on restaurants and leisurely activities. This plethora of information always pays off and is worthwhile the little time it takes to read.
Nextdoor is such an incredibly informative tool in staying in touch with all aspects of the neighborhood... events, news, sales etc.
We don't always talk to or see our neighbors in person so Nextdoor is the next best thing!
I enjoy the up to the minute nature of the news and situations covered on the Nextdoor website. I also appreciate getting a variety of opinions on various issues without the conflict which can arise in large group conversations, which have their place, but can become hostile and uncomfortable. It also gives me the chance to consider other views and ponder the points they raise before the time to vote. And it keeps us connected, and gives us opportunity to act in a neighborly way.
Nextdoor is very helpful in finding the perfect person/company to do the job. It also lets you stay in the know of what is happening and needed in the neighboring areas
Great way to connect with your community and stay informed. Not your typical social media. No need to offend or be offended, just neighbors living together and sharing and supporting.
Essentially, it's a community bulletin board, plus, and creates a sharing of comments and feelings within a defined area, in addition to serving as a neighborhood watch and news source. The downside is that inevitably there are residents who will moan and complain about things or each other publically, and even start arguments using Nextdoor as their buffer. And some comments made publically are highly in appropriate. Some people also tend to use it as their platform for expressing political or religious beliefs, which always create polarization.
I put out a query for information on hot water tank installation and received very good feedback. It helped me with the information I was looking for to support my cause.
I just found out yesterday that at least 4 of my neighbors cars were broken into twice in the last 2 weeks. I would have never known about this without Nextdoor.
We are all too busy to talk with each other. We get home at night and want to stay in. This app helps the neighborhoods stay connected and allows us to know of problems.
This app is great to report missing and found pets.
Nextdoor lets us know what stores are being opened and what is being constructed in our neighborhood. It also allows us to network and find local people for our service needs.
I just found out that a road was completed that cuts 15 minutes off my travel time when I need to go in that direction.
I am afraid to say anything. I said nothing but great things to people and I was eliminated from Nextdoor and it took me two months to get back on. I asked many times why I was taken off and crickets. So I am afraid The amount I learn and the people are great. The Russia effect of management is disturbing
I have gotten recommendations, seen others get the help they need and stayed informed on what's happening in my area and neighborhood
My review is of Nextdoor itself.
Nextdoor allows me to bring volunteer needs of organizations in the area to the community and get results that benefits organizations as well as those who volunteer.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
