I have found several tradesmen that were recommended on NextDoor and have bought and sold several things. I also find it valuable for lost pet notices and reunited a dog I found with his owner. Love this app!
The app could be more user friendly and better organized. However, in this day of automation... where neighbors aren't meeting each other face to face (not like the used to)... this is a great way to share neighborhood information. In my area we've shared; mail issues and contacts to resolve the issue // window washing recommendations // crime information and prevention // job information... etc.
I have recommended this app to family and friends to get connected.
I've been a member of Nextdoor for several years. It's a great way to stay connected to your neighbors and know what's going on. A lot of pup families have been reunited through posts on Nextdoor after their pup gets lost. Announcements about events happening in the neighborhood and sales or giveaways of no longer needed items are also very helpful.
I've found it enjoyable and useful to be able to keep up with what's going on with neighbors and the broader community at large, and to be able to ask for advice or recommendations. It has a built-in marketplace, so people also use it to buy and sell. The municipality also posts updates and goings-on, though I think they could be better at that (all towns are different I suppose). Overall, I think it's a good community-building tool and a great way to know about what's going on locally. Everyone should be on it.
It's a good way to be informed on what's going on within your immediate area - can keep you safer. Also, a great way to sell items within your close area - craigslist can be in a very wide area and not as safe for the seller
The ability to reach out to within your community is great at Nextdoor. But connectivity to anyone at Nextdoor's site? Forget it entirely.
We Split our time equally between two residences, two states. So is there an ability to use Nextdoor at both? Nope. Their IT design prevents it. Sort of strange considering the number of people with similar circumstances.
No solutions within the knowledge base. And, no ability to communicate to the administrators of Nextdoor.
It's a little crazy. Okay, a lot crazy, for a site who focuses upon connectivity?
Nextdoor is a great app. Gaining others' insight as to various experiences with drs, lawyers, services etc. is very helpful. When the site functions as a source of information and tips, it works well. However, the vitriol that flies between some of the people is unwarranted. This behavior needs to be stopped. There are too many people engaging in jabs with others and expressing political beliefs. Those people should be removed.
Joining Nextdoor has been a true blessing. I have gotten a lot of feedback and recommendations from my neighbors.
Unable to open up messages, pictures or to reply. Geek squad says it is on Nextdoor end. E-mails are sent broken up. When I try to open up anything in Nextdoor, I get a notice that comes up: Error or unavailable.
Virtual neighborhood watch at your fingertips! Whether you lose a pet, need recommendations or want to promote your business - Nextdoor let's you do all these things with the click of a button. It is nice to get local information. I love this site!
Their guidelines do not apply to everyone on the site. People are treated unfairly on this site. I would not recommend this site to anyone.
If you like to be in the know about what your neighbors are up to, just check into Nextdoor! But, if you can't be bothered with trivial rants about somebody's missing cat, or dogs barking all night; then, you might not like reading the Nextdoor posts. Just saying...
The above title does not lend itself to the creation of a plethora of lasting friendships. Actually, most humans prefer to be "receivers of praise", to remain ignorant of their faults and to receive positive attention when they believe they have done something (anything) noteworthy. This lifestyle is indicative of weakness of character, or even fear. For me, I have always sought out comfort and a knowledge of my worthiness, by continually constructing, re-constructing my relationship with Almighty GOD. There is a never ending supply of personal comfort in doing this, it allows one to recognize that we are all sinners and He knows our every thought, therefore introspection ceases to be a danger. Our salvation is not attained by some "good deed(s)" that we do, rather by living our lives, fully aware that the knowledge of our conduct is always available to the One who matters. He who has all knowledge and lives beyond time, offers each individual human a pathway to being able to eternal praise Him and enjoy pleasures beyond human comprehension. Personally, I have, and continue to enjoy my membership in "Nextdoor", for it's openness, for it's usefullness and the many idea's it contains. Good job friends!
No 1800 human # = no credibility.
Political leanings (left) cloud decisions.
Arbitrary decisions = no credibility.
Retaliation = bad customer service.
Lying to customers on the above = bad business model.
When you sign up, they want you to give them permission to access your emails and get your contacts. Think long and hard about the future repercussions. It's a really really bad idea, at a minimum.
There's WAY too many ads popping up now! I used to check it out nearly every day. Now, I go take a look a couple times a month. (If that, even.) It used to be better. I REALLY HATE HAVING TO WADE THROUGH ALL THE ADS, TO READ IMPORTANT STUFF! And I do love to invite people, but many times I send out 100 'postcards', and get no one! Then I have to wait FOREVER before I can get any more invites to send. Also, my bff tells me about HER Nextdoor area, and all of the negative posts that people write, that NEVER get dealt with when they are flagged.
Knowing who's been good or bad has been helpful to me. It's also been very powerful in getting results from businesses that have been bad, and I now have a gardener that does a wonderful job at a reasonable price that was recommended on Nextdoor.
I love that the community can come together and share experiences, advice and an overall heads up with what's going on in the neighborhood.
This site is wonderful! You can keep up with what is going on in your neighborhood as far as crime or even a lost pet. Local businesses are outlined and people can get input on them. Love it.
Let's me know what is happening in the neighborhood from unidentifiable people trespassing to flooded streets or other emergencies. Also, if someone is in need of help from someone.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
