I was a member of next-door and really enjoyed it. I gave away plants for free and tired to sell some. They suspended my account and their reason was because it was viewed as a business. WOW, really! Selling a few plants is considered a business. I called Senator Nielsen and complained to his staff. They thought it was unfair too and gave me Nextdoors address in San Francisco to write a complaint letter. I never wrote a letter because it would of been a waste of time. They said I could request to have my account re-opened in 2 months but I never did. I am done with them! Now no one will ever get a free plant again thanks to them.
My account was disabled due to posting an article regarding health insurance and unavailability of tests for Coronavirus asking neighbors to contact our Governor Doug Ducey and ask him to get aide to our region in the SW part of State, ie., testing, and to approve payment for testing and treatment which Arizona currently won't pay due to refusal to abide current law under ACA. Here's what they sent me: A message you posted was reported and removed for violating Nextdoor's Community Guideline: Be Helpful, not Hurtful. If you have concerns about why your content was reported or removed, do not post about it in the main newsfeed. Here's what you can do: Review the Community Guidelines Contact your Leads Read more about best practices for posting on Nextdoor in our Help Center. Here is the message that was reported: "California v. Texas"
This message shows proof that our state attorney general is fighting to repeal the ACA and refusing to allow state insurance under Medicare, Medicaid and Employer policy's for Arizona residents to cover any Coronavirus related issues. My Republican neighbors complained giving no reason other than they didn't think I was qualified to post it. It's not actually in violation of any policy. The decision was made by four Fox News, Fake News, Trump Advocates who frequently post right wing bias media videos, cartoons, and links. I uploaded my two posts they deleted, and the responses from two republican leads who blocked my access to my own account preventing me from deleting my account, while allowing other members to attack and bully me with posts and private emails. I will post samples of the lead posting and engaging and thanking their right wing propaganda posts.
This site is about community communication. That's great.
The result is community political correctness out of control.
If you said you like Trump your attacked. If you said you like Binden then you approved of.
The reporting system is abused and there is no freedom of speech.
It's frankly not worth using.
They don't care about members safety. Make it so potentially dangerous people who are members and disagree with you can locate your home address. Dangerous site.
I was banned for 3 days but not told why. They said I violated guidelines but never showed me the offending post or comment. I have no idea what I did wrong
I posted a response to someone who felt that calling the coronavirus "Chinese" was racist. I said I did not believe it anymore than I would believe calling German Measles was anti-German or Avian Flu meant one was against birds. I also pointed out that all the media had reported the virus as being Wuhan, Chinese, etc., and then had backtracked when they were accused of racism. She said they realized they made a mistake. I said no, they did not make a "mistake", but knuckled under to political correctness. She reported me and next-door removed my post along with a link to their community guidelines. This is the epitome of nonsense. I left the site altogether.
Fact deniers acting like Big Brother and would take the side of criminal activity. Very pathetic indeed.
This is to Pam H.
Had a post about reagents. It involved the failure of test kits. I explained it is about money and our company's wanting to keep the business here. I worked in the Advanced Tecknoledgy Department, of a well known medical instruments Co., for over 20 years. I never inferred I was for, or against, a private health care system. The reagents are big money markers! My post was pulled. Its OK just interesting!
I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I signed up on NextDoor to stay in touch with my community, There was a post recently where people were discussing how the Leads, those who monitor the site, were suspending peoples account for no apparent reason claiming those who had been suspended or permanently banned had violated their policy. A Lead suspended the post and eventually deleted it to keep people from further commenting on it and from sharing their own bad experience with NextDoor, I never read anything on the post that was rude or foul, just people experience and their opinion on Nextdoor. I never post anything on the site, ever, I just read the notifications on subjects I am personally interested in. So, when I was still getting email notifications on the post I found I couldn't find it, so I decided to post a question on why. Well, trust me when I say I never post any thing I mean it, it took me a good 15 minutes to figured how too post. Once I did post my question asking why the post had been deleted and further expressed how I felt it was important to discuss the topic, well, Nextdoor suspended my account, without notification or an explanation as to why. I am only assuming it was that post since that is the one and only time I had posted anything. It's a shame that this site has become one where the Leads can bully and silence people. I deactivated my account.
The worst site on the internet! They allow unqualified leads to bully and harass people! The lead in my area is an auto mechanic that is ignorant. I was posting helpful info about the Coronavirus Covid-19 and he froze my posting. He knew nothing about the medical field and or legal issues. And this frozen posting prevented thousands of people from getting important medical advice. Information that could save lives and prevent the spread of this new virus in our area. This ignorant lead that reps the nexdoor site went as far as to commit defamation of Character against me. Pathetic company to say the least! Don't sign up for Nextdoor! It is horrible! AVOID IT!
This is the most vile of all social media groups. Nextdoor allows neighbors to threaten bully and harass each other. Leads have this percieved power that goes to their heads. It becomes a clique that gangs up on the outsider, especially if you are conservative. If you complain, you get put in nextdoor jail to teach you a lesson. If you value your privacy and do not want threats throw at you, stay far away from nextdoor. Nextdoor is an Extremely Biased organization. The Censorship and Regulation of Speech is Public Enemy #1 Nextdoor Censors Anyone at Anytime for Any reason. Especially if you Do Not Toe the Liberal Line of Free Speech. Content is monitored mainly by "leads" who are volunteers and exercise their own personal biases or don't review content at all. Libelous remarks about neighbors are allowed to remain published with no recourse to have them taken down other than a time consuming process of contacting the website directly and wait over 24 hours to have offensive content removed with no way to block unsolicited e-mails. Political whining and badmouthing elected officials is commonplace and leads are selective in removing such content, depending on their own political views. The site is good for reuniting lost pets with owners and reporting crimes to neighbors; not much else.
A great place to connect to your neighborhood to find or give recommendations and share thoughts.
Big thanks to Layne.
App is designed to connect neighbors, on the same time help promote businesses, but there is a catch... if you had a bad experience with a business and you speak about it, they will deactivate your account!
That being said, I think they charge businesses fee, and in order to keep them in app operating, imagine, they will punish you as a costumer if you tell that business is bad business... stick to FB groups ppl.
Who runs this site? If you are a conservative you cant even have an opinion on the weather! If it doesnt jive with the other left wing nuts you; re account gets spanked for 33 days! You disagree they report you as a bully or a narcissist. Can you imagine being labeled a bully for an opinion? If someone doesn't like you're name they report it as Fake. In the mean time there are names and addresses on there that are non existent! I have lost my account so many times its unreal. Id love to see this site just crash. Its dangerous and whats more dangerous is some people cannot make an account with out their actual address showing! While others have fictitious addresses and are allowed to skate! In today's crazy world these wackos should not be able to see where you live other then the community you're in, which is way more then enough!
The Next Door community portal could be provided more effectively and with more control using a community email group. Our village has one which is efficiently run and allows relevant information to be shared.
I signed up to ND to try it out and was asked to provide ND my neighbours contact details which would be a breach of data laws unless they had already given their permission.
As soon as I signed up I was connected to 6 other groups without mine or their permission and had I stayed I would have been drowned in a wash of other peoples trivia and likes etc. Life is too short to read all this c**p. Plus the local burglar is probably a member!
But the most serious question is why they provide this expensive portal free. The reason is to mine data about communities and ship it off to california for commercial purposes. No doubt they will sell themselves and your data to a huge firm like Amazon.
You can provide the same functionality with better control using email to connect to the community. Save the gossip for the pub. Posting comments about people on line is cowardly, especially if you have not already contacted them privately.
Posted a post about Texas Education Association meeting to discuss Sex education curriculum and what they were considering teaching which included Abstinence, birth control and LGBT. A parent asked Is this being taught and how we go about i finding it out and if we go against it, we are called names. I replied back:" I rather be called names than to have schools teach my kids things that go against my values. Yes, it can happen. We already have drag queens reading to our kids in this state. This is why it is important to know what is being taught in your kid's schools, During virtual learning, pay attention what is going on and being taught. By the way parents ALWAYA have a say,"
My account was terminated for 31 days for discrimination. Discrimination of what?.
I suspect given the "guidelines" the site claims to follow which is IMO a bit imprecise. While I appreciate having a local sight with which to contact my neighbors and share thoughts, concerns and more, ND's desire to censor is no less atrocious than the censorship from any other entity. Outside of very clear hate mongering that serves no purpose ther should be no censoring. To serve as a beenfit outlet to the public includes not only the warm fuzzy news of the day but also should educate and allow the negatives and educations of life's negatives which ultimately in the end also serves the public to the benefit. Warm and fuzzy, I expect to find on You tube vids. Not when I'm dealing with other adults. So this leaves us with a censored site that collects too much information. I strongly suspect it also is an information affiliate selling website. Nothing is for free in this world.
Do not sign up for this website! I wish I had not fallen for it. To begin with, they require that you share excessive personal information to get on there, which raised a red flag for me, but I signed on anyway for the crime alerts in my neighborhood. What I did not realize when I signed up is that they display your home on a map on your profile page (you can hide your actual address, but are required to use your real name, so you are easy to locate either way). They preset most of the settings for who can see your information (another red flag). No privacy choice there.
I was warned ahead of time that there were a lot of petty people nattering away on Nextdoor (that is true), but what I found on the site was far worse than pettiness. There are people on there who are just bat-shyte crazy. And they can find you. I made the mistake of getting involved in a couple discussions about local issues. I had to mute a couple people who kept trolling me, and I flagged several posts that contained abusive or profane language (some posts aimed at me, some at others). I don't know whether someone I reported flagged me back in retaliation, but out of the blue my account was suspended. When I went to the website a banner came up saying I was suspended and could sign in after 15 days. Suspended for what? There is no contact information provided. No one to ask. Just a link to a page of rules for the site, and something about being "kind." Huh? Who was not kind? I reported the bad behaviors of others. And I am being slapped on the wrist for that?
The 15-day thing is weird, too. It's like some weird kind of training program. Like an electric shock collar for dogs. Come back in 15 days and try again and see whether you can avoid getting shocked again? No thanks. Why would I want to?
And it gets even worse! Because of the suspension, I cannot sign in to delete my account. So it will sit there for 15 more days. Fully visible to all the crazies.
Now I am stuck wondering what Nextdoor sociopath has my address. I am genuinely freaked about it. I wish to God I had never signed on to this horrific website. They take zero responsibility for the safety of their users. They just want your information, like all social media. But they disguise their data mining operation behind thos fake neighborhood watch and block party facade. Don't buy it. It is a lie.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR INFORMATION! They will placed you in danger. I cannot emphasize that enough. THEY WILL PLACE YOU IN HARM'S WAY. I have purchased security cameras for my property because of this website. Huge mistake joining up.
I wish that I never joined NextDoor to begin with, the only positive thing that I can say is that it is a good place to check if you have lost a beloved pet, otherwise you may as well stayed behind the "Iron Curtain", a great del of censorship going on, unless it it "left leaning" c*#p!

Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
