Next-door exposes you to the dregs of society, while giving your information to any scam-artist who appears legitimate. Their "policing" of community content allows fraudulent representation of businesses and individuals, while censoring accurate information that offends quasi-criminal enterprises. This isn't an accurate source of information, it's a rip-off waiting to happen.
Run by a leftwing bunch of $#*! that will delete your posts and threads for no apparent reason other than some members disagree with your views. Oh, and the ultimate honor is when they suspend your account for four days. Then you know you are getting too close to reality... don't waste your time on this trashy site...
I deactivated my account and I will never use their services in the future. I don't agree with their policies especially how leads are given special privileges to vote or request for a message to be taken down. A lead in my community removed my post w/o warning. Despite my intention to make this post funny and relevant in some way, he decided to remove it without warning. I submitted a case to Nextdoor Support and they said that they agree with the lead's action. Nextdoor agent didn't provide a clear and reasonable explanation. What a complete waste of time and energy. There is no transparency and accountability from Nextdoor. This a platform for neighbors to rant about their uninteresting lives and bully others who don't agree with their opinions.
Had a personal and a business acct... posted in general sec my companies willingness to help and a member who is a ND lead responded she didnt like my approach and for about 8 hrs trolled me slandered my company, my name and then reposted post I'd removed and would not stop no matter how many times i asked her to. She then email me the next day via our company with accusations and worst,,,,,, I changed my profile name after she posted photos of myself and my wife who is not on ND and her place of employment... Then ND disabled my account for name change policy. We then removed the business from the site and asked for a refund of ad cost we had paid in advance and so far nothing... One sided is a nice way to put it... So at the top of this page where it says
Next door is not fear at all when they disable accounts. They have shut my account off multiple times for doing very little. I have had other members troll me, insult me and my family, attack me, use profanity too me, stock me on Facebook, harassing me and I screen shot it and send it to Next Door and they NEVER disables their account just mine! They told me to report members so after my account was disabled the last time I decided I would report everyone that was harassing me. I sent over 20 screen shots to next door and they did 0 to the other members and guess what my account is now disabled until the end of May for no good reason! They are using selective enforcement and taking away my freedom of speech! They give you no warning they just disable your account. We have been fighting over a local school levy in my area for about 3 months now and my account gets shut off because I'm a NO voter on the levy. But all the YES voters stay and get to use profanity against the NO voters and Next door does 0 to them. All the local admin in the neighborhoods are a joke because they are YES voters and they try to kick out and disable NO voters accounts. Here is the list of my last violations and Next door is keeping my account off. As you can see I did nothing wrong after I was trolled for over 8hrs! And the others photos are members attacking me and Next Door kept their account active.
Be careful people have your real name and you might end up with threats like lots of people have your phone here
Just like FB or Youtube. Have something that people won't agree with? Banned. Is there a local issue that you don't agree with the mainstream on? Banned. All it is is a bunch of Karens in an echo chamber.
Nextdoor encourages divisiveness and prejudice. Nextdoor encourages your neighbors to take retaliatory action against you physically whenever they want to. Nextdoor does not value your life or your privacy. Nextdoor allows contrarian and hateful people to continually post without censure. Nextdoor is a scam. Nextdoor is not something you want to join. Most of the posts are only to complain and do nothing useful about other people. It's highschool clicks in adult clothing. Run away. They will disable your account if some angry member says you aren't using your real name, they will demand invasive information about you, they will put you at risk, they will not delete your information. Do not join.
Nextdoor neighbors are hypocrites here in West Hollywood. They claim Their democratics that are homosexuals & lesbians but at the same time they film homeless people that are down & out and make fun of them.iam a Trump supporter & I got banned for checking these people that claim that they have more values then conservatives.
I posted a video about where the virus originated and got suspended but people are calling people names and fighting with each other and that's ok.
My account was disabled without warning. I received no email notifying me of any violation reported nor given a chance to reply or dispute. I mainly post about lost dogs in the neighborhood with the occasional reply to someones request for contractor information.
There is no way to contact anyone about the situation other than a generic inquiry through a form with no relevance to being disabled. I have to wait 48+ hours for a reply. I would not expect one of my customers to do business with me after being treated like this. I will fight to get my account reinstated so I can post my story and then deactivate the account. Sitejabber should give us an option for "0" stars. One star is too generous in my opinion.
Nextdoor has suspended me numerous times. One for abbreviating last name for safety reasons I told them about. Other times when I chose humor over nastiness, but poster got butt hurt and complained. I see all kinds of ugliness on my Nextdoor. I've always been informative. Nextdoor can discriminate at will and there's no oversight. It can be so much more than a "have you seen my cat"? Site, but chooses to censor at will.
We recently have had our Nextdoor neighborhood taken over by leads director linked to a troublesome HOA in an exclusive neighborhood in Frisco called Starwood. There are concerned homeowners who are trying to alert homeowners not receiving the truth about a number of violations that created stop work orders by the City of Frisco as a matter of fact their 3rd time the management company has working with the HOA failed to be truthful about the cost or safety concerns. The city of Frisco fire department asked HOA to remove medians that were erected without permits and blocked appropriate access.
Then I recently notified all in these community to warn them that Tom Thumb while promoting senior hours early in the morning to shop were not enforcing this by allowing a large young group to ignore the time and a queuing line and allowed uncontrolled rush that pushed aside seniors. I went to bring this up to the manager of the store who said it is not enforceable due to company policy. I then warned everyone not to put our seniors in jeopardy of the virus and to avoid Tom Thumb. The HOA leads removed posts putting all in danger. And flagged my post as a violation that did not allow the warnings and put me in suspension.
So if you think they are a good community remember this, they fail to monitor the monitors, allow censorship based on their processes, and can put many in danger because they ignore complaints of constant harraaament.
Don't use until they clean up their censorship rules?
NextDoor censors viewpoints that disagree with their own far leftist positions. NextDoor censors accurate information of which they disapprove. NextDoor bans people who post such viewpoints and information, regardless how cordially the material is posted.
The idea of the app is good the practical of the app is extremely poor.
The app places Leads in control of the content of the neighborhood and they attempt to exert their power of their little domain without any result to the consequences. My neighborhood' was suddenly changed to include a full city block, I questioned this. At first I was told it was because they couldn't get people as leads for the separate neighborhoods, then I was told it was the app creators' that did it. When I stated that it was not correct I was told it did not matter what I thought. Then one of the leads started coming around my house. This is unacceptable behavior. This app needs to go away.
This site is illegal, as it violates US Constitution, Freedom of Speech/Expression, Civil Rights, and discriminates people who are trying to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by censoring/removing their posts! A post which described a sick postal worker, who was coughing and sneezing, wiping his face with tissue and hands, but NOT wearing a mask was removed on the grounds that it used: punctuation, was "judgmental", didn't offer a solution, and the postal worker wasn't contacted to resolve this issue! Really? We're in a state of pandemic without disinfecting supplies and the post gets removed for these reasons?
This site is filled with local resident and political "censor cops", if they disagree with your comments or if you refute a posting the "censor cops" make this site less than useful.
I joined and was forced to use my personal Info (which makes sense). I join and there is noone in my neighborhood. Shortly after a receive a large uptick in spam phone calls. I didnt feel comfortable giving my number for this exact reason. Be warned, they will sell your number to spammers
After joining this group several months ago, my account was disabled for the following reason: "We disabled your Nextdoor account after we received a report that the name you are using "Imelda Egg" may not be your real name."
Obviously, the objection was raised because of my last name. I was asked to 'prove my identity' by submitting copies of my passport or my drivers license. Does that mean that anyone with a last name such as $#*!... Hamburger... Bacon... and Egg must prove they are not fake? Extremely insulting and discriminating.
I was on this site (for Toronto) for less than a week, after a few comments on a post about dogs in parks some people ganged up on me, reported my comments just because they didn't like my opinion (I dared to say that in these Coronavirus times when the dogs parks are closed people should maybe not complain so much about dogs with no leashes) The comments were removed, I then cried "censorship' and I've been called a "troll" by the Moderator/lead. One of my comments reported and removed was " I'm afraid of bicycles, some go soo fast" see screenshot, go figure. Terrible experience. The mods/leads are unreasonable, they don't practice what they preach, very hurtful and not helpful at all. I've never imagine that I could encounter this level of censorship in North America! Pathetic.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
