Don't give them your phone number! After I signed up for a Nextdoor account I began to receive pornographic text messages that I can't block fast enough to get rid of.
Nextdoor is full of bullies and petty power hungry weirdos. There was a man bashing a business and had the owner on her knees. She explained the misunderstanding, yet people kept posting, saying they will never go there again. It was ridiculous. I know the business, and never had a problem. Of course the man never a[apologized. He loved the drama. That is why he posted on the first place.
A few people stood up for the business, and I "liked" those posts to show my support for the business, the owner, and her unnecessary explanation.
Next thing I know I was canned for posting a photograph of a bird in our neighborhood. I accidentally used a nick name. I did not know that was against the rules., It was still my real name. Now, Just locked out and they threw away the key.
Not very neighborly if you ask me.
UGH
Nextdoor is is a totally one sided platform. Liberals can put a multitude of misinformation there, but let a conservative correct one think and they kick you off... and they don't even give a specific reason... just "community standards" the catchall phrase for WE DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU SAY.
Nextdoor is an awful site, they should call it either Nextcomplaint or Nextban. All people do is complain about dog poop in their yard, or why are helicopters flying in the air, or did you hear gunshots, or who is this person my ring-doorbell recorded? People will discuss politics usually some leftie blaming something on Trump and if you defend President Trump they start a fight with you and bait you into saying something that nextdoor considers breaking the rules - then you are banned. It totally sucks and I suggest for people not to use it so they won't know how many jerks they have living close to them.
I was recently disabled for standing up for a homeless person who had their picture nonconsensually taken and posted on NextDoor for simply walking in our neighborhood. The man was doing nothing wrong but all of my neighbors took stalker pictures of him, judged him for his appearance and then verbally attacked me for standing up for him as well as mocking me.
I went on nextdoor to point out a grievance and when I did they cut me off they would rather protect a child abuser over the person that was trying to protect children. Paula law and her daughter abby law were going to beat my 11 year old child. And they are protecting these people
I see All kinds of things on there pertaining to others but when a child is in trouble they take it off what kind of bias group is this
My account was deactivated after I made a change to my personal info and unable to reactivate it. They also require documentation with personal account numbers to join which shouldn't be required.
Next door has more fake accounts than real accounts. This has been reported to ND over 1000 times and ND does not care. Be careful using your real name. Many of my neighbors have experienced vandalism to their homes and cars by ND members who targeted them for having different political views. They had used their real names. I have been on ND for less than a year and in that time 40 members in the community have been targeted by ND members who found their address based on their real name. ND also allows private groups and in these private groups, members discuss who they are targeting by name. This has also been reported to ND with 1000's of screenshots of period and ND does nothing about it. They want high numbers to get advertising but do not care at all about your privacy or protection. If you have a ND account, you should delete it. If you must use ND, use a fake name as the majority of accounts on there now are fake accounts. Protect yourself as ND does NOT care about you or your safety whatsoever.
1. I can never find the stuff I have not seen. You can't get rid of ads to clean things up, but you can "hide" the posts that you have seen. So you end up missing important things and seeing all the junk.
2. Don't allow them to notify you. Every time something tiny changes they notify you.
3. Because I have no alternative I just take the app off my phone and once a month I check it and take it back off.
4. I have used it in two locations and people don't use it to get to know one another. There are no groups that get together. They complain about kids, peeping through their curtains they watch, complain about drivers and what kind of car, complain about peoples dogs pooping, and they do nothing.
5. One woman watched someone outside her house that appeared to need help. She did nothing, just talked about it on the app.
6. Now you know what a bunch of idiots you live close to. The reasonable ones probably don't even use the app, why would they?
7. Find some other way to communicate. There must be something better!
Nextdoor has an extreme radical agenda to attack and punish conservatives. They promote hatred and intolerant viewpoints from the left while censoring anyone who expresses any right-leaning thoughts. Their support will ban anyone who does fully endorse their bigotry and insane views.
I have been put on time outs many times and then thrown Off Nextdoor for good. My crimes? The first time it was for helping plan a Trump Golf Cart parade. So, I went back on, but had to use my middle name and maiden name to do so! Then, I posted TX Senate Bill 12, which is written to force Twitter, Facebook, NextDoor to not be able to cancel you for your views. In other words, to cancel you if you're not a progressive liberal. The leads are liberal fascists, and here, where it's 80% conservatives and only 20% liberal, if you post conservative views they ‘ll send you a stupid note calling you uncivil, or hateful and take you down! Yet they allow the progressives to call you names, bully you, gang up on you and even make veiled threats against you and yours. I hope the bill passes, because it's like being on a Kindergarten playground dealing with these people! Nextdoor are cancel culture, leftists, book burning, bullying thugs from San Francisco. Pure and simple.
On February 1, we went on their website to check them out, since we had heard some mixed comments about Instacart.
We decided not to pursue a subscription after reading the reviews.
The next day, to our surprise, our bank account had been charged $99 for an Instacart subscription.
We have been trying since then to get our money back. Still no money back. All we are getting from them is a run around and excuses.
Avoid them if you can.
Here we go again. Hadn't received anything from next door in quite a while, was kind of hoping they'd been driven out of business. But received one of their idiotic form letters from my "neighbor Holly Smith on Jackson" telling me how over 800 of my neighbors had already joined. I bet there's a Holly Smith in everyone's neighborhood singing the praises of next door. I tore that pos letter into pieces before tossing it in the recycling bin. Gawd what a scam it is. You've been warned, steer clear of it. You'll be sorry if you ever do join, you'll never be allowed to leave.
I have been banned for 1 year from ND. It was my 5th suspension. Do I use bad language?-no. Since this was my fifth suspension, I can't reapply for a year. This time I was banned because I complained about a Chinese restaurant making frequent mistakes in my order. I said the food was decent, but I was sick of the mistakes. Most people gave nice responses. One person said I "left myself open to ridicule" because I continued to patronize the place despite my having said it was close and being elderly we do not like to drive far in the dark. Another one said my opinion was useless and had no value. I should have just cut off discussion but I responded to one saying she had a pedestrian style of writing. The other commenter said I didn't "get it" and my opinions were of no value. I responded by saying I assumed he "didn't get much" meaning out of anything. Another time I said Biden resembled a leprechaun. Yep self-inflicted. The only thing I miss is the ability to get recommendations for things like painters and electricians. I agree with all the negative comments expressed here. I wish some enterprising person would set up a similar site to compete. I don't have good luck with Angie's or Craig's list. Signed S. G.
Communistic Platform with Extreme Censorship. Avoid! Unless you like to be controlled. They do not allow opposing opinions that do not fit their agenda. This is communism in a microcosm.
I posted a video from my ring doorbell to find someone driving a car with altered muffler. The decibel rating ended up being 125. The highest legal is 95. My eardrum is perforated and my service dog is still having trouble hearing me. Someone who was a jerk with his comments reported my post after he could no longer comment on my post. He assumed I blocked him when on reality I deleted it because I found out who it was. I am in ND jail for a few days for doing absolutely nothing wrong. However, a neighbor, when finding out I believe in God, said I have a mental illness and need help, had zero penalty when I reported her. ND notoriously removes Christian posts while leaving the reported hateful ones. If you have another option, do that, instead.
Yes, all of those reviews about complaining neighbors, bullies, and corrupt moderators are true. That is the society we live in. Some of your and my neighbors are bigots, socialists, evangelicals, liberals... you name it. Most are just really nice people who want to get to know each other. But since I joined a year ago, everything is getting censored. You can't talk about anything except who is the best plumber and have you seen my lost dog. That stuff is fine, but don't people talk about anything else? It's like living in Stepford Connecticut. A recent post about Lady Gaga's dogs being kidnapped was censored. "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." This site is for small, mind-controlled people.
Kicked off again (2nd time in 6 years). I have no idea why. It seems to me that it's a bogus suspension of my account (4 days) and Nextdoor only points to their community guidelines for reference which is a very broad bible of behavior expectations. They claim I "spammed" which is absolute hogwash. I engage in posts like everyone else on the site. I think their mods need mods!
2 tickets and still no help so it says alot how these people that call themselves " experts " are actually disrespectful and lazy to answer a simple issue
The leads on nextdoor moderate and block/delete any posts they don't agree with. I know people who had all their posts deleted by a lead, just because the lead didn't like them and didn't agree with truthful posts. I have had several posts deleted, for no reason and no notification. I have quit nextdoor, and advise any truthful person to do the same. Why stay with them if they hate you and only want to make money off you? If you are not on nextdoor, DON'T Join! When neighbors start talking, bad things happen. Nextdoor is anti conservative and hateful!
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
