This is the worst social media site that ever exist! Do not waste your time. You will be constantly bullied and trolled by others but when you will tell them to stop ( all I said that "I am tired of your constant comments to me and LEAVE ME ALONE") the Nexdoor will disable your account! It is almost impossible to post anything except lost/found pet and make a normal discussions. I found petition on change.org about ban of consumer fireworks ( one of almost 900 petitions about same topic) and just shared link on nextdoor for those who wish to sign it too. Trolls start commenting it with negativity and criticizing me nonstop and without any sense, because they feel boring. They called me a lier and even I showed them proof of toxicity of Chinese fireworks they still did not read it but kept trolling and even told me to leave the city then state and even country! I reported it many times but nothing change. I did not force anyone to sign the petition and I mentioned many times that it absolutely voluntary. Trolls have no any ideas but only intent to made others down and tell them that others ideas or posts or comments are bad. Even if you will report troll they still will continue to do it because they acting in a "polite" passive aggressive manner! But actually nothing is polite to say to your neighbor leave the city/state/country! I am a United States citizen and I can decide for myself where I want to live. They start calling themselves as they are patriots but not me, only because I can see the impact of chinese firewoks on our ecology and just do not want to support billion worth China business who put all world in lockdown but they never stop their own businesses. Nextdoor does not allow you to share your thoughts or ideas without be constantly bullied and trolled. I want to decide with what kind of people I want to talk. After they blocked my account for 4 days with no reason I decided just delete my account from that terrible, useless and harmful for mental health website. Deactivating and deleting completely my account from this trash site made my life better.
This site really compromises your safety. They require to much personal info just to sign up. But thats amazon for you they feel entitled to have you debit card and discriminate when you use gift cards by not letting you see or comment on things you buy you a second class costumer. I live in the hood around over 500 men on a sexual offender list and this site is dangerous Things are being said about you that you could get you hurt, and your not even aware that you need to be defending yourself. People are also judging you on onesided accusations so if your windshield gets busted or you get jumped, nextdoor most likley the reason why Especially if you start getting the cold shoulder from people that you were ok with This site should be against the law and should be made to pay for all the damage it causes in everyone's life The best thing i can say is Dont get involved. I am going to contact victim assistance And my city council members. If your having problems on this site compromising your safety make police reports but also contact your city council person and show screen shots. They can help.
I enjoy the local flavor of Nextdoor. Helpful with lost pets, ofers of help, recommendations for contractors, and events in the area. Sometimes devolves into "flaming" other people who disagree, but that's easy enough to ignore. I use it and will continue to so so.
I know what time Nextdoor publishes it newsletter each day so I can check it for updates. I love the neighbor news as well as market postings. It's a good resource for recommendations as well as references. I read it daily!
Next Door is very valuable to me & the neighborhood where I live. It has helped me with safety/crime alerts in the city or near by. It is very helpful in finding names of trusted individuals or companies that provide handyman, plumbing, home repair, landscaping/mowing/trimming, snow plowing. Also alerts of lost & found animals in the area. Our alderman is great at keeping us all up to date & announcing neighborhood meetings & ordinances.
This site/app is a complete joke. I live in an area that is one of the most impoverished areas of Columbus. The only lead in the area is a person named Michael Flynn from Westgate, a small subregion in the Hilltop where home prices are way bigger than everywhere else in the Hilltop. He is the only lead in this area. He over censures every comment anyone makes. And in addition, he is a former Columbus Police individual. Now let me repeat, Nextdoor has hired a "FORMER COLUMBUS POLICE OFFICER" to be a lead on Nextdoor. Does anyone in their right mind think this is a good decisionm
I am a solar business who pays for advertising on the site. On the personal side I offered discussions on climate change. I was accused by some that I was promoting my business on the personal web site. I seem to have been kicked off the site for talking about this serious issue. I am entitled to bring up subjects even though I have a parallel business account. I received a congressional award for my 40 years of work on sustainability issues and have knowledge to share. I was actually been pejoratively called a self serving capitalist. Never given the chance to defend myself and some plutocrat on the board of this misguided organization decided to suspend my account. I am withdrawing my advertising account.
I've been on the Nextdoor website to learn more about the impacts that the proposed Metro Lane on Colorado Boulevard. Unfortunately, this subject has been at the center of a fiery debate between locals for years already revolving on the same issues. It was completely reprehensible for me to see how one of the supporters of the proposal actually took screenshots of a debate they were having with one of the neighbors on the app and posted them on Twitter without censoring the name. I would've rather had Next Door handle this internally with their own messaging system, but the user had opted to publish this conversation on a public platform that anyone can view. This individual has a large following with special interest groups, and had commenters piling on the neighbor just for pointing out some connections that the supporter had with some city officials. Nextdoor responded by taking down those comments themselves. And the twitter thread is still on there. It seems anyone who posts anything on there to oppose the Metro may be susceptible to having their comments taken down, as they are perceived threats. Worst yet it has been known that some of the detractors of the proposal have received threats and were doxed, as they were publicly shamed on these social media sites. Their comments were taken out of context to help fuel the narrative on several publication sites. Posted are screenshots of the twitter thread with the names censored out.
Nextdoor is a great link to your local neighbors for sharing information and recommendations on local businesses, events, and attractions. It is hartening the speed and support that the community provides to share support in finding lost pets, providing comfort to needy neighbors, or providing suggestions or information for neighbors with questions or concerns.
It's mob rule on nextdoor.com. It's easy for several people to gang up and get folks they don't like banned. The nextdoor administrators aren't bright enough, or don't care enough, to prevent this from happening. So people tend to go on site for a little bit and then quit.
Nextdoor is an excellent source of neighborhood news, information on nearby medical professionals, repair services, dining, just about anything. You can ask for help, sell stuff, help solve others' problems, and get help with your own.
My experiences with Nextdoor have always been positive and informative. I stay connected with neighbors and friends in my community and surrounding communities learning about, among other things, current events, restaurants, entertainment, new businesses, advice and recommendations on hiring contractors, etc. It's a wonderful site that makes you feel included in all that goes on around you.
I'm a moderator for nextdoor & there is no rhyme or reason to what they remove. The site has allowed it to become like Facebook with lies & negativity. It's supposed to be a site for neighborhoods like lost dogs, recommendations, community info.
This is an opportunity to communicate with neighbors on a wide range of subjects- trade recommendations for local handyman or housecleaning, exchange puzzles, find out about strange noises or lost pets. Very useful.
Once upon a time in a land far far away there was this app called Nextdoor.
The concept was to help folks navigate problems in the community, review particular services or just post silly things from the neighborhood. Sadly today, it has become a place for folks to share their anger, complaints and criticisms. More often than not, if anyone disagrees in any way with a post they get attacked. If you post something others don't like, you get attacked, the worst part is when those that disagree with your comments are 'leads'.
I think the original intent was excellent, now it is no better than FaceBook or Twitter when it comes to the attack trolls.
From recommendations for local eateries to craftspeople to specialized services this is an excellent site. I've used it to arrange for paid services and to donate items. I've learned about venues in my area that I now patronize on a regular basis. During the pandemic I was able to source face coverings and learn which stores had needed supplies. As with an social media venue there is a variety of opinions being expressed, however, the site is well monitored.
Overall, Nextdoor proves its value by allowing neighbors to exchange ideas, find lost pets, share relevant local information, reviewing businesses and linking neighbors with like interests. While I agree with censorship when it comes to profanity, harassment and other bad behaviors, ND does tend to censor/ remove posts if you have a conservative POV without violating the behaviors listed. Many folks have commented on this.
I've been a member on NextDoor for about 3 yrs now, and I've found it to be a great place for giving and getting advice on anything from dentists to dog groomers, cleaning people, and things to look out for (suspicious activity) as well as meeting new people in and around your neighborhood. I personally have met a guy who shares my passion for electronics repair, and we've become very good friends. Sometimes things get a little sticky when people start talking about politics or whatever, but it's just people expressing their opinions and it's a good place to do that also...
While the concepts is good, several things are not thought through resulting in creating conflicts.
E.g. How to add reviewers or leads. Today the process is. There is no process. Someone in the community recommends and next-door seems to be taking their own decisions based on that. Should have vetting of existing leads / check with more people.
Groups. Concept is good but can overwhelm the experience.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
