I have tried to be on nextdoor in my community the admin seems to be jaded certain people can say what they want but when you try to defend yourself you get kicked off, my husband was bad mouthed by a woman who he tried to do a job for and because of her it never came to pass because she would make appointments and then cancel, she did this 3 times then tried to hurt my husbands reputation for not scheduling a 4th when he had over 250 responses all defending him and he did NOT advertise he NEVER put his number or any contact info up but they kicked him off of the site, not just take down the posting and warn him even though he did nothing they just kicked him off no explanation, great neighborhood, the admins suck!
Like every other social media app out there, Nextdoor is an echo chamber that often leads to negativity. Except it's worse. Because these aren't just random people around the world; these are your neighbors.
Posts meant to spread positivity get very little interaction.
Complaining about something? Posting something divisive or political? Get ready to see the ugly side of the people living next to you.
The app says to "mute" these conversations or people but in the last year or so I've blocked over a dozen neighbors just to avoid their toxic behavior. Now my feed is only filled with ads, people trying to sell stuff, or the upteenth post of someone asking for a recommendation (instead of just using the search feature).
Think Facebook…but mostly populated by all of the old people who don't realize they need to filter themselves on the internet.
How is the app moderated? By these same neighbors. You get nominated to be a "community lead" by how much you use the app…so the majority of moderators are these same bitter, spiteful people with power going to their head.
Misinformation is spread like crazy. Had a neighbor claiming our neighborhood was going down because crime was going up…despite five year data showing otherwise. Facts don't matter though; it's how hard you shake your fist!
It's incredibly toxic. The goal of the app is lost in this haze.
As for the app itself? No ability to sort chronologically properly or permanently turn off ads or "for sale" posts from coming in your feed. Incredibly slow load times.
An app meant to bring people together…instead I deleted my account and hate my neighbors more.
Im a resident in South Euclid and we have a very nice Community and Cultural environment Our community is very supported.
This is an outstanding tool and allows you to communicate with others in neighboring sub-divisions and neighborhoods. It allows you to seek and give recommendations for restaurants, doctors, dentists, hair dressers, contractors, where to shop, finding lost pets, handy tips, etc.
Recently I found my Nextdoor account disabled and was informed it was due to their policy on posting misinformation or promoting conspiracy theories. I've since demanded they support their position since I posted nothing of the sort but instead they interpreted it that way. So, censorship and support of the radical left is alive and well at Nextdoor. But we knew all along it would become this way.
I've found Nextdoor to be good for two things. First, it is good for helping find lost pets. Second it's very useful for letting you know what neighbors you can trust when the government comes knocking on doors to cart away those that refuse to drink the Kool-Aid.
Other reviews mentioning censorship and the like are pretty accurate. What I don't see and think it's more perception is this supposed take-over by the right wing types. What I've seen most is left wingers getting their panties in a knot when anything factual is posted or they're challenged. Typically they start throwing insults or go into a childish tirade and start reporting people to the Nextdoor police. Basically acting like a bunch of butt hurt school girls.
Then there's the lead(s) that can go either way but I find them to be more on the liberal side and while thrashing a member for talking politics have no problem throwing their two cents into a thread if that member happens to on the right.
Other than this it's ok if you like reading posts by a bunch of busy bodies that think every time they hear a bug fart they need to post to see if anyone knows what the noise was.
Then there's the Nextdoor management and especially the CEO who talks out both sides of her mouth. On one had she'll say Nextdoor wants to stay away from political discussions but on the other supports the leftist agenda wholeheartedly. In other words, the same lip service paid by Zuckerberg and the other far left pivot men.
If you stick to things that no one on the left disagrees with you'll be fine. Your leads are in control of posts being removed. So if they don't like something you get thrown in ND jail. I posted actual info from frontline workers, but it doesn't align with the garbage MSM is spewing. The really sad part is they don't tell you what the exact post was, so you have no idea what someone didn't like. So restricted for 30 days, and the leads think they are something special! We have gotten to a point if your views don't align with someone else's, instead of continuing to scroll they choose to cry & snitch……bc they don't want anyone having a different view!
During a discussion on the safety of covid shots, one of my ignorant neighbors told me I should get a tattoo so everyone knows I'm unvaxxed. I'm Jewish. This was extremely offensive to me, the other commentors joined in telling me to basically shove it and I was a menance to society. In case people didn't study history, that's what they did to jews (that my ancestors fled Hungary to get away from) before shipping them off to camps. My account was banned after I reported many comments for being a "conspiracy theorist". Glad to see the stasi has arrived in the states and these tech companies are perpetuating and giving them a platform for their hate.!
Nextdoor is a stupid app for idiots to complain about petty issues. If you bring up any important topics such as the mismanagement of your HOA, you will be blocked! They also won't give any information on how you supposedly violated their community standards!
I've been a very active member of Nextdoor for 3 years. My work is public service and use the outlet to warn neighbors of impending weather alerts and I watch the COVID-19 updates. Apparently they say I posted something in regards to covid 19 that was verified as incorrect. I never posted anything untrue at the time. The issue i have is how can they Disable opinions about a virus that mutates almost daily. They refuse to reply to my Emails asking them to show where this violation occurred. I will be the biggest thorn in the next door side. I take this ban very personally and i have 18,238 followers that will voids their opinions on the platform if they don't give me an answer or fail to reply ir not reinstate my account by Monday
Adult Facebook. A lot of options. I thought this was going to be helpful information shared, instead it's high school. The lack of respect for individuals if they disagree with you or have different beliefs. Grow up, do better!
NextDoor is a complete joke the only interest is selling you a product that does not even work I paid to have 2 zip codes up for 1 month and not 1 lead at all horrible, they expect us to continue paying for nothing, they were supposed to cancel my deal and instead, they billed it huh I hate these types of scammers that why as fast as they came up that's how fast there going to fall.
Lack of transparency, letting people speak and propagate their hate, they apparently allow public name calling, they allow scam accounts, suspend people without telling them why, suspend people for standing up for themselves in their neighbors for doing the right thing, this company should be ashamed of themselves.
Write anything negative about Biden and get banned for, get this, " discrimination ". Post anything negative about Trump and watch your post get 100's comments full of hate, racism and threats against fellow Americans from leftist thugs backed by the leftist moderation team.
They want no one to share with neighbors anything they deem 'bad' for you. One of my neighbors, who was also an Admin, was deleted from the site because she was warning our neighborhood that illegals were in our backyard! No notice given, no votes against it, just GONE, account deleted without even a warning! Stay far away from this site.
We had a great post going on about illegals that went through the gate close to our homes. I mentioned Joe Biden and this was all on him and I said the illegals were out of control. For that I got canceled. No warning no nothing just deleted.
When I first joined, I was impressed with the helpful neighbors. But, and this is a big but, I only put a missing kitty, from a website for lost animals. I was banned for that. According to them, they don't allow being on a soap box. That is exactly the way they put it.
Another time, I gave my opinion about not wearing masks. I got in trouble for that one also, by a moderator. I have been called a racist for stating the truth about an incident. But I had some neighbors, who stuck up for me on that one.
I do not like how people get to fighting with each other on almost every subject. It is ridiculous and childish. I would think adults would be able to have conversations with each other without all the heckling and bullying.
I like how I have been able to help a friend of mine, with his maintenance business. So, for that, I am thankful.
Last, but not least, I like their finds area where you can find or sell items. It would have been helpful, however, if they would have given us some warning that they were changing their format. Personally, I liked it better the way it was. I liked, For Sale and Free rather than Finds. With that in mind, we have gotten some pretty nice things for free or reasonable cost.
These are my own opinions of Nextdoor.
It is full of people too ignorant to navigate Facebook. I have never seen a more hateful group of people in my life. AND THEY ARE MY NEIGHBORS. They publicly shame children and people living their lives. Do yourself and community a favor and get off nextdoor. Twitter is more friendly than this hate filled site.
To show you they only want hate and opinions I attached a screen shot of me complimenting a neighbor for using facts and not opinion.
I have not personally been a victim, but many great, honest, respectable neighbors in Sun City Center ARE bullied for being poor, not being a member of an h. O. a. Etc. I refuse to engage with these racist, reverse-ageist losers...
I was being attacked for simply stating everyone has the right to their own opinion on whether or not they should be vaxxed and was SUSPENDED! Multiple people shamed ME and said I was a threat to society for spreading such "misinformation". Really? I'm suspended but they were not. What alternative is there, HELP!
Horrible Echo Chamber machine where Orwellian censorship and truth obfuscation is rampant, just try to talk against the liberal narrative and you will be place in Suspension, no matter how many reliable sources you have, it is enough for one of the "leads" to complain about you, and you are toast, Management are careless to the facts, and most cases will side with the leads, waste of time of a platform, definitely no free speech platform and allows your Next door neighbour to be your next door bully
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
