Censorship on my personal choice of not having a vaccine i am blocked from saying why i chose this?
Nextdoor plays games with customers when they make a complaint. In addition, they claim they will respond to complaints but never do.
They falsely accuse you of discrimination. Ummmmm defamation of character much? I never say stuff that is considered discrimination. I am not that kind of person.
Stay away from this unless you like being silenced when you protest anti vax disinformation and the support of jan 6
The mods have mental issues
If you have a brain keep well away from this cesspool. The censors tolerate only opinions that coincide with their own, which are usually of the kumbaya variety where all the world is a good and friendly place except for the person who just walked by my house for no apparent reason. The paranoia is palpable.
The level of privacy allowed is laughable -- I should think burglars and robbers find it a godsend for quickly screening easy marks -- no "walk-by" required!
That said, it's probably a great place to have people report your lost dog. It certainly can't hurt to have a bunch of timid folks who sit at their front window for hours with their laptop ready to report any dog so vicious that it peed on a fire hydrant.
In short, it's primarily a grouping of wanna-be do-gooders ("good" by their hive-mind definition wherein all police are bad, and criminals simply the result of circumstance) who sit in a darkened house at night for fear a robber will attack, but who leave lights burning when they go out to make burglars think the house is occupied.
I tried it for a couple of weeks -- that was as long as I could tolerate. But then, my dog hasn't gotten out of the back yard.
ND is only good for trivial posts. Getting non contracersial info around your City or neighboring cities. Beyond that your freedom of thought and speech is regulated by the lead moderator and the reviewers, who are all within your community. The vocal ones are often censored if they go against the narrative. This leads many to disengage and be silent in fear of being doxed or retaliated on.
ND also has a community diversity issue. While the company promotes diversity, they allow neighborhoods that are predominantly one ethnicity group to control the narrative and agenda. Moderators and reviewers are not diverse. If you're lucky you may have a group of moderators who are diverse from various ethnicity allowing for diversity of opinions and thought, otherwise there is only the narrative if one group's thought.
Nextdoor is looking to IPO. This requires increased members/users on their platform. They need user engagement. They need users to spend time on the platform, constantly looking at content so ads are shown to them. If you don't like censorship, being bullied, being discriminated then just quit and close your account. This will hurt ND's valuation and worth. Less members equals less value. It's all about page views and eyeballs. If you want them to care then you hurt their bottom line and they will take notice. If people quit and spread the word, they will wake up.
The local sites are run by leads with no oversite from the corporate level. 2 of the leads on our local site are anti growth and anti Water & Sewer Authority. They constantly violate community guidelines and bully anyone who disagrees with them by posting long rambling tirades without any facts to back up their claims. They also blatantly promote and direct traffic to a website they own. By becoming leads and helping their friends become leads they have taken over the site and there is no way to post anything without them jumping in and taking control of the conversation.
Blatant leftist policies regarding what can be posted. Every topic that might be of interest to right wing persons (or just honest Americans) like election fraud, January 6 Capitol event, Covid vaccination alternative news and facts, etc. is banned/removed. But no mention of nationwide leftist violence like from BLM so they are apparently allowed. Just as bad as Facebook, Twitter, etc. in their hypocrisy/censoring.
This app has caused more stress and anxiety than any other app I have ever used. There is a barrage hateful, racist, overly religious or political opinionated people. If you happen to mention anything than what some other people agree or disagree with, be prepared to have neighbors potentially stalk you! This site is full of people with a sense of entitlement. There is so much bullying, that I left. This app is far from neighborly, it shows how vile people in the neighborhood really are. Many people on here use threats to keep other neighbors from calling the cops or trying to fix an issue regarding dogs oh, crime, bad children, Etc. It's like the underbelly of society. I installed this thinking that it would be helpful when I moved into my new home I realized quickly, this app was definitely not cool. I don't even think they investigate people on here as I have heard of them allowing pedophiles on here. Rather scary to think about them allowing kids to be on here and I have noticed teenagers making fake accounts as well as their parents, trying to justify their children's behavior in the neighborhood. Not cool at all and when you reach out to a moderator you get nothing in return. This app should be tossed into a dumpster fire! But feel free to use it if you like to scroll past bigotry homophobia and racist comments.
I somehow got an email solicitation and decided to try out the platform - and became a target for abuse. Despite my efforts to be tactful in the face of various forms of insults, shaming, and vulgarity, my account was suspended; apparently, I was reported by those who disagreed with my election to post an advisory about an event - a nationwide protest being organized. Being new and unfamiliar with the software, I couldn't figure out how to do what I wanted, so I put up "notices" in each category that interested me; the post had no guideline violations (I carefully reviewed all site disclosures). Many agreed with my post and my position, but those who didn't were often relentless; I'd say it was fairly equal on both sides, but there were some nasty and/or patronizing people trying hard to control and dominate - no matter what - so it appears they achieved a measure of success. I found a way to contact the company and made both inquiry and report, but it's probably not going to result in disclosure as to whether anyone else received a consequence; they don't have a category for legal/civil/constitutional violations available to those of us with those types of reports. There's at least one person operating a business that breaks the law, and my wife is in the industry, so she said something in a couple of her own posts (we usually share pages like these); one can only guess how many others are using the site illegally or unlawfully. Given the state of the nation and my experience with Nextdoor, I'd have to say that signing up - which requires giving your address - could be a serious mistake...
Neighbors always only complain about one another, governments, religion, politics, someone waking them up before their alarms ring, wandering cats, an ugly house, traffic, etccccc! What do any of these have to do with connecting with others, as happy polite nice helpful community members in Calgary, Alberta? 1st world problems of hifalutin, arrogant, privileged, rude, selfish, entitled & spoiled grown a$$ adult diva brats! Bullying is rampant on ND! As are Insults, Profanity, Threats & Blatant Disregard for the Neighbors in the same Community/City! Yet when a person speaks truthfully, they are blocked by ND? Unbelievable! Next Door, SHAME ON YOU!
Recently, took down post on Homeless RV parked on Sun Valley Parkway near Sun City Festival, AZ
The post was simply asking" Anyone know about the RV parked on Sun Valley Parkway?" Ya I wouild like to know. But they deemed it too controversial assuming it had anti- homeless overtones.
This organization is a disaster. It's run by cliques. If you don't agree with their political and social issues views, you are summarily expelled. I would sue if I could find an affordable attorney.
This app promotes bullying and racist views. If you post honest information that other uses report as a violation, you will be banned, while users who promote false information remain unmitigated. I posted a picture of a man on my own private property in the early morning hours, trespassing, and did not note anything about his race and I was attacked by other users assuming his race and I got banned. I attempted to appeal my ban and I was ignored and permanently banned. This is not a community app, it is a biased and racist app. I had dozens of supporters and still got banned
Nextdoor actively censors conservative speech. Nextdoor censors conservatives by claiming that it falls under "misinformation." I was suspended when I quoted Pres. Ronald Reagan and the Congressional Record! The posts by leftists, no matter how crude or rude, are not censored unless Nextdoor receives multiple complaints about the content. Nextdoor practices censorship at its worst.
Useless group of Kyle and Karen constantly complaining and hypocritical by their own statements. If you call them out on it or their misinformation and lies they get butt hurt & report you so your account gets disabled. Really shows how terrible many neighbors are.
I "URGENTLY" outlined massive lawbreaking that was currently inundating our community as well as the
Financial impact this lawbreaking was costing our community today and in the future.
For alerting the Nextdoor Community to these atrocities, my account was suspended.
NextDoor is nothing but a Intolerable Censorship Site that wishes to hide massive lawbreaking truth from it's members.
Crap App. Disabled due to strong opinions of what's being posted. Truly an online high-school mentalied app in which your opinions and postings are subject to the very beliefs of theāvolunteers/Leads' managing this site. What a comedy show and if they think that disabling my account will drive a message, then they are wrong. Sharing their tactics with every Social Media site I can find and spreading the word in regards to their censorship. We'll see how long they last. Deleted.
Censorship on Steroids! They will bully people into "speech" compliance by disabling accounts. I left that trash place.
I love the concept of Nextdoor, but on numerous occasions I've seen active threads abruptly removed with no explanation. It would feel less like censorship if the threads were left intact, perhaps with a cautionary note for statements that can't be verified.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
