I think the app is great but their policy sucks. The site has a personal and a business side. The personal side does not allow you to talk about their business. They monitor you. You have to use the business side and pay for any messaging about your company. Their business advertising is very limited for the money you pay.
I was sharing work that I am doing in my house and getting opinions from my neighbors and Nextdoor blocked my account for three days as a punishment for violating their advertising policy.
Maybe someone will create another competing app and allow neighbors to collaborate without limitations or censorship
No one can say anything unless it is approved by whoever decides what is and is not okay. And they don't let you know until they have banned your profile. Horrible
Nextdoor is a refreshing change from Facebook, or at least that is the goal…. A place where neighbors coming together to support each other, share helpful tips, and help reunite lost pets, keys and phones,
Nextdoor decided to deactivate my account. Now they are asking me to come back. This must be there way of acknowledging they were wrong. Too bad, I am not returning. Your quick and inaccurate decision hurts your bottom dollar. Not mine. I can help my neighborhood without you.
Good luck if you join this app. Moderators are biased, neighborhood Karen's will use it to harass and bully you, and you could do all the right things and still get accused of bullying and get taken down for 30 days! It's ridiculous how many times the real bullies get away with what they do but the rest of us get punished for things that we shouldn't be! I got banned today for making a post about bird feeders that included me calling the neighborhood ban on bird feeders due to pests "bull$#*!." They said that was uncivil and that I was bullying. Who am I bullying?!. This app is beyond ridiculous!
NextDoor creates an environment of toxicity by allowing their "Leads" to wreak havoc through power trips. They don't have any criteria for people to be Leads. Complaints about abuse by Leads are not dealt with. Hate this platform! Cancelled my membership and encourage others to do the same.
I response to an ongoing plethora of thefts of packages from porches and Christmas decorations, I used the word "scum" to describe the people doing it. Nextdoor suspended me for 30 days stating that I was being unneighborly. Nextdoor considers a THIEF a neighbor deserving our respect!
Leftys from San Fran run an app from he'll pushing their worthless ideas. Lefty admins arbitrarily decide who's post to keep based upon political leanings.
You can post something that in no way violates Nextdoor rules and get blocked. I posted factual public information after another user accused me of unethical conduct at my job and I got blocked for merely replying with facts to clear up the issue. I think all the complaints must be sent to somebody's three year old child. And there's no oversight of the Leads, so don't expect any help from them. We should all find a better app for sharing with our neighbors.
I used a pen name because this site is really nothing more than neighbors complaining about each other.
Account disabled for not using "real name"
Sorry, stupid site. If I have to live next door to some of these jerks you don't get my real name.
NextDoor is a left winged hate site disguised as a neighborhood app. I have never run into a bunch of more liberal, inane, hateful, intolerant hypocrites in my entire life. The leads are given much leeway with your private info. There have been cases here of liberal leads posting information they gleaned from the site and even reported, they were not disciplined. This site is chock full of anti-white rhetoric, 'white privilege' nonsense, and unscientific Covid misinformation. If you like leftist, intolerant, racist, mean and trite treatment? ND's the ticket.
I had to deactivate my account because I reported a racist post that was not taken down and I continued to receive racist comments. Yet, Nextdoor will censor any word that comes near swearing, or "mean" toned content. A really stiupid site for really stupid people.
Nextdoor is just shills for big pharma. Honest information is censored if it does not fit their narrative. I disgusting company.
No site admin controls over increasing spam from unwelcome government and "Team Nextdoor" posts. They remain unresponsive to my emails on this. My community is now looking for other options.
Nextdoor sounds like a good idea, but if your neighborhood has a large group of Leftist SJWs, they'll gang up on Conservative thinkers to have them silenced. A local Lead, Rick Hinojos, lures those he doesn't like into traps in attempt to have them suspended; there are several Legtist Leads in my neighborhood who think it is their duty to silence Conservative thought. I have been suspended for wishing well to a SJW who complained that I said, "I hope you have joy in your life." I was also suspended for posting a link to a USA Today article about a person who was arrested for his involvement on Jan 6. My crime? The person who got arrested is Black. I was also suspended for asking someone who was complaining about the singing at the Sunday church service (he lived near the church), "Are you saying that the parishioners should tone down their enthusiasm when praising the Lord?"(see pic of letter from ND Corp explaining my suspension). I was physically threatened for attending an Open California rally in May 2020. The local Leads refused to remove the threats. I have been called vicious names and the posts continue to appear because whatever the Left says or does is ok.
My advice to anyone who thinks for themselves - stay away from ND if you live in a Blue state. The people will bully and gang up on you. It is the worst of the worst of humanily.
I have unsubscribed over 30 times and continue to get emails. They ignore all and emails asking to stop.
Bogus site. Favoritism! Racist bigotted! Same people overpost use it as a personal page? It's ok? I post or report overposting? My account is disabled but they can post 10 xs a day? Talk about overposting. Bragging. Using it as a pet page! Absolutely ridiculous. Dont join.
I'm a licensed General Contractor and I joined nextdoor to advertise my business.
I had a nasty client that happened to be on their.
She wrote numerous crazy nasty reviews about me which were all lies.
The lead Nancy Gilberg of 15 aurora ln Salem Massachusetts started attacking me and my business. She harassed me every time I posted something.
She tortured me and horrified me. She was worse than having a tick burrowed into your body.
She got me disabled for life, my girlfriend disabled and her ex-husband and anyone else who mentioned my name.
Nextdoor isn't a friendly family site.
It's a communist gathering of psychos.
The government should shut it down.
My next door neighbor made a post about me putting my full name on the post and I defended myself and asked for an apology but instead Nextdoor banned me and not the neighbor who made the post. The Leads are the bullies also. Very unsafe and unfair app stay far away.
I received an invitation to join nextdoor.com by letter, thinking it was a local community offer (it's gloabal)
I wish I had done research on it before joining, the T&C are a security risk for anyone's identity.
I'd love to know why and how they lettered me and where they got the information from.
You need to supply, real name, address, telephone number, email address. D. O. B and all has to be verified by the site.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
