Unhealthy
March 8, 2022

Don't get me wrong the idea and the user interface of this platform is great however the community is just horrific.
And the issue was next door support is that it allows hypocrisy.
I don't even know what I've been banned for but I did not bully or call anybody names quite the opposite I was speaking out the truth and making people take responsibility for their actions instead of listening to them whine and complain about gas prices by an administration and all of the other economic changes. Apparently somebody did not like that and reported me I don't know why next door would allow the report to come through and I find that very hypocritical.
The bad guys aren't the ones who are encouraging people to stand up for the truth and to take responsibility for their own life. The bad guys are the ones who are coming on the platform $#*!ing whining and crying about politicians politics and overall life circumstances and all the things they have to pay for or they believe they have to pay for when they actually do not.
I came into this platform as a neutralizer offering practical Creative solutions for the community. Along with logical reasonable intuitive and futuristic approach to solve problems. As a result I was bullied slandered misunderstood and projected onto.
And when I expressed myself in self-defense they banned my account for 3 days.( See the pictures I posted with my responses to these people that apparently looked like violations to them) I was being direct not rude not aggressive but honest and to the point. I cut through bull$#*! and I do not sugar coat or walk on eggshells before people. I value myself and I love myself enough to project that into the world anywhere I go. And you should do the same if somebody violates your sense of stability. The responses you seen photos were to name calling comments such as "stupid, cry baby etc" basically two bullies who came on my intellectual comments and started trolling them...
An agent named Ashley was not helpful at all, and just kept repeating that it is a violation even though I had explained myself three $#*!ing times when I shouldn't have. That it was a response to bullying. And I'm not going to keep my mouth shut. Something tells me this is a very biased platform that just likes to keep people silent, and collect all of the trash in one place.
That is not right and it is not something I would ever want to be involved in again. Enjoy your toxic pool of community on your own. I will take my intelligence elsewhere where it is not just valued and appreciated but also compensated.

Nextdoor is nothing more than Facebook 2.0. Facebook now has some kind of business partnership with Nextdoor. The regularity to which Nextdoor's biased and Left leaning leads censor, silence, oppress, harass, and ban/suspend their conservative participants is beyond measure! I was just suspended for 15 days for merely saying that some of their unnamed biased leads were constantly deleting the entire posts, and/or comments of the Right. According to them, we are not allowed to disclose what is being done to us. How dare we criticize them for violating our First Amendment rights (LOL). In other words, we have no due process. Quite shocking indeed! Someone pinch me, I feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone. Nextdoor has deployed the nefarious tactic of letting their unhinged Left participants troll in our private conservative groups, start a fight, and then run to their biased leads to get us deleted, and/or banned. Are we living in America still? Nextdoor obviously does not believe in the Free Speech of their Right participants. Shame on them!

It is like Animal Farm
February 27, 2022

It could be good, but ultimately 3 people Leads/Reviewers control the the convo in the area. When you question why they have shut down a conversation, the get you kicked out for "discussing moderation".

It is like Animal Farm on the Isle of Lilliput. If that is your idea of community, then Nextdoor is just the place for you. They may promote you to Neighbourhood Czar. But if you enjoy good banter amongst neighbours discussing local issues, then be prepared to be booted from Nextdoor.

Someone posted a very Un-American view on one of the post. I responded to the post. I am the one that got kicked off. This is a very very liberal site and if you have any other views that are not and lying with theirs or are not liberal enough they will kick you off. Really crappy admin. But if you are a liberal, this is the site for you! They love to hear anything on American on here. I would not be surprised if this company is not based out of china.

When you need help with dealing with an abusive landlord, you will be met with nothing but hostility intent on driving you out of your neighborhood by the likes of California's hivemind. When you call out the abuse by the membership, YOU get moderated and suspended.

I had requested help on escaping the landlord when I desperately needed it and was, before the request was of course being deleted, instead met with accusations of being DRUNK. Sorry, Richmond, CA region, but I don't drink alcohol and I have reason to not want to. You, however, want to be drunk and have my parents' house, already a mess caused by pluming that wasn't my parents' fault before the red tape complicates things, being the symbol of your sins to show for it.

It just amazes me how these people think that everybody living in this God awful disconnect already full of territorial paranoia could make a good society. NextDoor definitely enables this mess to continue via the same toxic hivemind.

Censorship at its best
February 25, 2022

Was banned the first time for commenting about homeless people leaving trash at their camps. Was warned in an email by a company employee that I should not have allowed a post referring to "illegal aliens". (I am a community moderator). "Illegal alien" is literally the legal definition according to our own country. I was banned again for linking to a Sonoma County official website to Covid data and asking about the difference between California cases and Florida cases. Apparently, even with official data and proof, they do not want any dissent on their misinformation campaign about Covid. I am done. Account deleted.

If you report a lead for abuse, they tell the lead you reported them, which sets you up for more abuse.
Our Leads are HOA board members who are being questioned about various issues such as $50k missing, hundreds of thousands of dollars in no-bid contracts being awarded, etc. Several of us who have referenced the issues and asked questions have been singled out for retaliation, slander, etc. leads/HOA board members have — without explanation or saying a word — arbitrarily and capriciously deleted users' posts to dishonestly manipulate a narrative. Several community members have been suspended without having violated Nextdoor TOS, when in fact it is the Nextdoor Leads and community reviewers (former board members and relatives) who are violating TOS. RUN, do not walk, from this toxic site

I've been on and off NextDoor a few times over the years. The site seems to only exist for two reasons:
1. To allow people to vent, attack, scream at, etc. their neighbors. It's just like when reality tv shows cast people for conflict: NextDoor wants people arguing with each other so they get traffic to the site.
2. Why do they want traffic to the site? For their paid advertisers, of course. On NextDoor, you are swamped with generic ads that have little (if anything) to do with your neighborhood.

Interestingly, if someone in the neighborhood advertises a service, it gets deleted quickly because it's "advertising." Well... at least it's advertising that isn't paying big bucks to NextDoor. So literally, the kids who are selling lemonade to raise money for a friend with cancer: their mom's post gets deleted. But if I want 4% off Jiffy Lube, NextDoor has a coupon code for me.

NextDoor promotes the toxic behavior among neighbors because they know people will eat it up. The give all kinds of woke, upper-East-coast sap about how it's all about "community," and their "standards." What it's really all about is you making money.

If you like arguing with your neighbors.
If you want to become enemies with the nice old lady down the block.
Then you want to go to NextDoor.

Otherwise, just go talk to your neighbors.

Bad experience
February 21, 2022

I was banned TWICE for using a fake name. I cancelled my personal and business accounts and withdrew a $20,000 advertising campaign. Any other user can call you a fake or say you are an anti semite if they don't like your opinion and you are gone. I told them to piss off.

I was a member of Nextdoor for about three years, until being banned for one year due to the comment I made below. Yet, when a Lead sent me a Private Message (below), he was banned for about four months, came back and is STILL a Lead.

At the very least, I would have thought ND would have stripped his "Lead" status after saying what he did to me. But no, that despicable person's "punishment" was a slap on the wrist in my opinion, compared to mine.

Some crazy person posted about clocking the speed, because doesn't everyone have their own damn radar gun, of a lady and then posted pictures of her. This is insane. Mind your business people. BTW - the driver was only going 43 mph in a 30, for the love.

Censorship at it's finest
February 15, 2022

Multiple posts were removed with no notice or reason. None actually violated community guidelines or user agreement (my lawyer checked). Claims to be a platform, but curates content. I see a lawsuit in their near future. For the record, removed posts were asking for pointers to prevent or treat a rash my son got from chewing/suckinf on masks (he's 6) and direct quotes of CDC website (with source links)

I live in the Upper North Shore NSW Australia. Recently Nextdoor informed me they had received a complaint from a neighbor that I was not whom I claimed. Yet, at initial registration with Nextdoor I had provided my full name and full address. Nextdoor have asked me to provide ID such as a passport or a driver's license. As both these documents have my photograph I will not provide them, but rather a fee notice from Sydney Water or a rate notice from the local council, minus account ID. In my opinion the provision of ID with photograph is contrary to the Australian Privacy Principles. The complaint was received shortly after I posted a description of seeing a small boy run across a street comprised of heavy traffic, including school buses between two well-known private schools. If Nextdoor complain about the ID they give me no choice but to immediately file complaint against the company to the Australian Privacy Commissioner and if necessary take the company to the Australian Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). Clearly, as I gave the correct information upon registration the complaint is malicious. I have also provided relevant intelligence to NSW Police. It is extremely concerning that a US social networking company de-activates an account on the basis of a complaint without evidence and then demands personal ID CONTRARY, in my opinion to the Australian Privacy Principles. The executive of Nextdoor need to engage in a review of their guidelines before they find themselves fined and ordered to engage in such a review.

DO NOT JOIN!
February 13, 2022

Never joined this site and I do not know who signed me up or why. My inbox was inundated every day with feeds I did not care about or want. Despite hitting unsubscribe 100x, I got welcome letters, etc., which I responded to with obscenities, hoping to get kicked off. That did not work. Tried to "deactivate" with no luck. NOTHING worked until I posted my gofundme page because I have cancer. Somebody "reported" me and FINALLY I got kicked off for good! Thank God! Nice neighbors, too, in this dump of a town where I live.

The community in my city is dominated by advocates for the "homeless industrial complex." The trolls who work for them bully and mass-report dissenting viewpoints in order to silence all opposition. One of the volunteer reviewers/leads is under contract from the city to provide promotional material. She also represents a homelessness corporation at city council meetings. She and the trolls who work with her attack anyone who criticizes a city program and report and/or remove their posts.

The "moderation" done by Nextdoor itself is frequently even worse. You can post articles from the Journal of the American Medical Association which debunk anti-vaxx propaganda and be flagged for spreading misinformation. My account was suspended for 30 days because I posted a JAMA article which found that 75% of the reported adverse effects from the covid vaccines were due to the placebo effect. The replies you get from their customer services sound like they were composed by primitive bots, or people with no education. Nextdoor customer support pretends to listen but always responds by repeating the same nonsensical assertions, like "the... content could discourage other's [sic] from getting the vaccines." The reviewer quoted the Nextdoor guideline out of context. The full text is "False or misleading information that could prevent or discourage people from receiving COVID-19 testing, treatment or COVID-19 vaccines." The source was a refereed academic study, so there was no basis for calling its content false or misleading.

The article which I posted said that 75% of reported adverse covid vaccine effects were due to the placebo effect. This would normally be considered very strong evidence that vaccines are safe, but not to Nextdoor. The only way to avoid the possibility that ANYONE might be discouraged from getting a vaccine would be to lie and say that 100% of adverse effects are due to placebo. That's what it takes to conform on Nextdoor. You are expected to agree with the ruling clique's dogma, and to hell with the facts.

Nextdoor guidelines encourage users to provide references for claims they make, but it does not recognize the validity of even the most solid and respected sources. This hypocrisy is one of the reasons Nextdoor is a third-rate social media platform.

How is it that a Nextdoor leader can compare $#*! for brains to "Lets go Brandon" but pointing out this hypocracy gets me a 30 day suspension? My first suspension was for a single sentence in my first post: "Lost a few friends when I came out as a conservative"
