Not for me
February 7, 2017

When told that streetlife was closing down and that it was merging with nextdoor I moved my account over. I was horrified to see so much information on the site about me, they published my full address with a map showing everyone on my neighbourhood where I lived. I did not ask for this information to be made public, what right do they have to show it. Sorry nextdoor but you are out for me, If I could give negative stars I would.

Waste of time
February 7, 2017

My neighborhood has 698 individuals on a closed group Facebook page, and someone decided to send these invitations out I signed up because I like the fact that the addresses are verified, but all I see are useless posts and nobody responds to anything, whereas people are really active on the closed group Facebook page. Bye-Bye useless Nextdoor.

So upon being told Streetlife (that I have found very useful over recent months) is being taken over by Nextdoor I clicked the button and joined.
I was immediately horrified that I could see the names and addresses of all my neighbours, particulary shocked as the hover-over button on the front page says that my address WILL NOT be shared with third parties. Well a third party is anyone other than the two parties in a contract. I did not enter into a contract with any of my neighbours to joind this site so they are all third-parties to me, as I am to them. So what legal right do they have to do this AS A DEFUALT SETTING? None. Very dangerous, stay away. I have reported to the UK Information Commissioner Office as a breach of the DPA.

Repeatedly trying to upload a profile picture. Not successful after at least 7 attempts. Not too impressed unless the delay for it appearing is down to vetting.
Not too happy about the amount of information displayed on profile. I realise that you can exclude the street number, but I would also like the option of excluding the road I live in. Still considering what to do about that. It may be prudent to exit Nextdoor.

Ridiculously spelt
February 6, 2017

My neighbourhood is wrongly spelt. Not a good start. No point writing anything else, if they cannot get that right.

NextDoor Leisure World of Maryland is a joke - the "lead" is a failed lawyer who sucks up to those whom he thinks are empowered to make decisions on the illegally seated BOD and its management subsidiary. Any posts about their fiduciary abuse and management corruption are deleted by him and the author banned.

It's funny how most of the negative reviews are regarding how "bullying" and abusive this site may be. And yet that's exactly how the people are that are writing such reviews! For an honest person (business owner) who operates a business of high integrity (such as myself) this site Is A Blessing! And allows people in need of an honest and very good plumber to find me and/or my business. And yes, I get all 5 stars. I am in No Way boasting of myself; I Am Nothing without Christ! But this site serves both myself and my customers very well!

THE BULLY NEXTDOOR
January 31, 2017

I call it www.bullynextdoor.com. After joining, I found out which of my yenta neighbors "always answer the door with a gun in their hand", and every nasty, hateful thought or opinion that crosses their mind is posted there, with the ridiculous "Thank"-ing option. (They THANK each other for spewing negativity! There should be a "I agree with your racism" button, or "I agree with your narrow mindedness" button). I was bullied because I dared to remind my neighbors that fireworks are illegal and suggested where public ones are held. 17 $#*!s mocked, attacked and shamed me - talk about villagers with torches... all of these idiots signed a contract with our HOA acknowleging that they cannot shoot fireworks. I got off next-door, but a year later a nice neighbor told me that a man posted that his friends house burned down due to FIREWORKS - and he felt bad that he had attacked me for simply stating a fact of our HOA regulations. So then they all attached HIM! (Kinda funny, really. Sorry, not sorry!)

I wish I'd NEVER signed up for this horrid website, and now I find out that it is only to TRACK us and spy on us... I urge you to DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT NOW.

This company and I do mean company is not just in your cute little neighborhood help site. No they are all over the place. You are duped into giving your home address and even pictures of you and sometimes your children. Hell, you don't even give that much info to Facebook! You don't know all the people in your neighborhood and now they (plus maybe even some hackers) have all your info, it could be a neighbor that is a child molester, or a crack addict, or a sexual predator and now they now what you look like and where you are and by some postings when you are going to be home and what expensive items you have to sell that they could steal.

DEACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT NOW.!

They have a section for your rating of local businesses which by seeing the reaction to those businesses they can direct their sales teams to target those businesses to advertise on their site and here you go with emails, coupon rip offs and more.

A member has the ability to get the drop down menu on neighbors and save it to their computer and print it out, now that member has a mailing list... com'on people wake up!

Ours is an FBI agent! Not hiding it at all.
Also infiltrating our neighborhood HOA boards
Our lead gets off on creating discord and picking & choosing which posts to delete depending on HIS interpretation and if he likes you or not. He goes against the GUIDELINES of the site a lot. My experience with getting my complaint handled was inadequate at best and of course landed on the side of the lead. The general attitude of MOST of the neighbors now is very negative.

I learned that all of my neighbors are racists, afraid of anybody that walks, rides a bike or skate boards through the neighborhood and have nothing better to do than peak out their windows or watch their security monitors. Neighbor have commented "Profiling works". I have reported people that profile only for it to fall on deaf ears. If you want to know which of your neighbors is ripe for klan recruitment, this app is a wealth of knowledge.

Have you noticed how the formal invitation was sent to each individual home in each subdivision in every county in the United STates? Who would fund such a promotion for a free site? Come on people, wake up! The governments in all these areas are directly involved with censoring you. They have especially targeted certain areas of middle and lower class status to see and hear directly what complaints to pinpoint using key words such as those listed@ "www.forbes. Com/.../department-of-homeland-security-forced-to-release-list-of-keywords As well as common words associated with illicit activity, racism and hate crimes. Terrorism is real and Homeland Security takes action in every way possible to fight it. At the same time this is costing the public.

In my neighborhood, the Nextdoor "lead" and the HOA president are one and the same person. This has morphed into a glaring CONFLICT OF INTEREST. As the Lead, he deletes postings, or moves them to an inactive private discussion group, about HOA items that may not reflect the narrative that he wants to present to the community. This turns into censorship & propaganda akin to a state controlled press. It's starting to feel like I am living in Russia.

Apps like this are what will lead not far into the future to a totalitarian state or fascist technocracy where cyberstalking and data mining for information on individuals is unregulated, unrestricted, and available to just about anybody, including dangerous cybercriminals and espionage agencies of the government. Imagine if you were a domestic abuse victim and you were trying to find help without the abuser knowing about your efforts to get help. It would be nearly impossible to find help in locations that have Nextdoor activated. Don't support cyber stalking like Nextdoor's and enjoy a safer, more ethically transparent neighborhood and community for it. Bottom line -- I think this is an ominous development in unwanted and threatening cybersurveillance, stalking, and fosters suspicion, mistrust, and backhanded gossip in communities that could get along perfectly fine if they would only deal openly and transparently with one another. Don't encourage services and cyberstalking using apps and services like Nextdoor.

I love the Nextdoor app. Fortunately, ive never seen any negative posts. It's all been very helpful. I'm not concerned about having to divulge my address because anyone who is on it has also divulged their address.

This seems like a good site. However, it is managed by local moderators who are simply people who live there. They are often petty and take sides in discussions instead of being objective and neutral. The concept is good, the operation is extremely poor. The Next Door staff is also dishonest. Unless something changes, I recommend you stay away from this site.
