Dangerous
July 2, 2017

We moved to a new state I was invited to this app was all about getting help in our new area. Yes I knew the app checked my address but had no idea the neighborhood could see it even on private they see you road which ours isn't that long so easy to find you!

Well some lady took what I said about worrying about kids playing in the road the wrong way I was saying I was scared bc cars didn't slow down she seemed off her rocker away but thought I said I wanted to run over the kids. So stupid but anyway she looked me up on Facebook took my pic from there posted a crazy story with my pic, name and address saying she was going to kill me all over her Facebook. She gave all my private info from this app out! Someone seen in and warned me is how I found out she then had others sending me awful messages needless to say the police got involved. Beware folks just because they life in your area doesn't mean they are good people. This app shouldn't list you road and if you don't fix private settings they show your number either way it also gives a little map to your front Door! Facebook is much safer app. Please be careful

The moderators are petty and so are many of the neighbors who post on it. Most neighbors are not on it because of unprofessional and extremely bias actions of some self appointed leads. I am not sure how one becomes a lead but some are overtly petty. Don't bother unless you need drama.

I have been an integral and huge contributor to Next Door. A person who was squatting in one of our rentals reported my name on the web site claiming it was fake. It was a nick name. I reported the problem but I am still disabled and she can do what she wants while she squats! No response!

At first it was interesting to read about local wildlife sightings and events, but in general it is people selling their old crap or they've lost or found a dog. When a non-neighbor started attacking a local business, I tried to defend them but immediately got a bunch of emails from trolls. So to avoid getting that sort of spam, I opted out of the whole thing.

Don't Do It
June 25, 2017

This is the worst abuse of a contact list I've ever seen! Do not let this site into your contact list, they will spam everyone you have ever communicated with, non stop. Terrible!

GENERALLY VERY GOOD
June 21, 2017

RECENTLY HAD A "MEMBER NEIGHBOR" CRITICIZE ME FOR USING U/C TYPE AND I EXPLAINED IT IS DUE TO MY ARMD. THE THEN CALLED ME A $#*!. I TRIED TO COMPLAIN ON THE SITE BUT TO NO AVAIL, WHEN I TRIED TO ENTER MY EMAIL ADDRESS, EVEN BEFORE TYPING IT IN, IT SAID IT WAS AN INVALID EMAIL ADDRESS. WHEN I CHECK THE NEIGHBOR LIST, THE INDIVIDUAL'S NAME DIDN'T APPEAR.

So political. So mean. Many folks get on just to bully. And even the "moderators" are bullies! There should be no such thing as monitors if they are opinionated like those in my neighborhood. If you don't agree with them, your out! Story of my life! Junk social media! Haven't a fakebook or anything else!
Sucks to be nice! Bullies see me coming...

The nextdoor in my area is very heavily weighted with neo-con republican/freedom party members. "Make America Great Again" slogans fill many posts, and anyone who objects is reported and threatened with banning. People who tried to announce Town Hall meetings were threatened with banning and told that politics were forbidden. Obviously, that means "any politics that is not uber-conservative. Conservative politics are welcomed, rewarded, and applauded.

On top of that, the private message system is used in the most bullying fashion possible. I complained about our spotty electrical service and was lectured that power is a privilege, not a right (actually, it's a service for which we pay, neither a right nor a privilege... so odd). I had another person lecture me that linemen were risking their lives for me, how dare I complain, as if the electric company was a military service. I've heard of other members getting ethnic slurs and attacks in the private message system.

I have seen the most hideous personal and racial insults on there, right in the public forum. Anyone who is not white and republican is a criminal. It is often repeated that poor people deserve what they get because they're lazy. The cops are "too lax" about letting "the wrong sort" into certain neighborhoods.

It's a terrifying place. I'm assuming the company is run by neo-cons and white supremacists and they appoint their leads accordingly.

Not for me!
June 15, 2017

I work at a grooming salon and I'm constantly hearing about, nextdoor. We apparently have great comments from customers. I live about 10 minutes from my salon and because of there privacy law, I can't see what is being written about us. I think we should be able to see these comments!

I received an invitation to join Nextdoor, which claimed to be from my wife.
When I asked her about it, she said she had indeed accepted an invitation that appeared to be from someone in our neighborhood, but that when the Nextdoor web site asked if she wanted to invite friends, she checked NO.
The email I got said Debbie was inviting me to join, and even had a section at the bottom labeled, "Debbie's personal note:"
This is a complete violation, to imply that part of that message was a personal note from my wife, when in fact, she had nothing to do with it.
This seems shady at best. Very poor business practice.

My experience with Nextdoor.com leads has been repeatedly a bad one, in the Ramona, CA area. Upon investigation I have discovered that Leads are not screened adequately. Anyone, including people with personal problems, could become a lead. Bullying, favoring some discussions over others, cutting off important discussions, unfair treatment, and profiting off being a Lead are just a few examples. Basically we are allowed to ask each other for help with finding a local business or with missing animals. Those are the safe topics. Anything off those is game for having one's wrist slapped. It is boring and like a dictatorship as a result.

Contol
June 6, 2017

We live in northern Idaho where gated communities are relatively new. In our community our HOA isn't good, and the person who Contol's our nextdoor app is very 'clickish'
And delete happy. He uses this forum as the main mode of running the hoa so that mailing important information can beeliminated. NOT THE PLACE OR WAY TO RUN A HOA as not everyone is on nextdoor or chooses to be

I own a business
June 5, 2017

I own a business in the Tahoe Park area in Sacramento and most of the reviews and comments that people leave on Nextdoor are really hateful. A Man named Matthew DeVerioux (Colonial Manor) wrote three very hateful post about me and my store and how he was half owner of my coffee shop plaster fake information about me, and then I found out who my real people are. It's ok if you don't like me... I am very ok with that, but I don't post about your life and if I did it would be the truth...

And for that and Nextdoor letting this go on and on and telling me three weeks ago is to long ago to remove it? Ok what about the three days ago or the few hours ago? When will it end? And why does Matthew? Get to use a fake name? That is not his real name>>> (Matthew DeVerioux)

This is the absolute worst site. It should be one that keeps neighbors informed about important neighborhood matters such as safety. Instead if allows for and provides a platform for those that enjoy spewing hate, slander and false facts; as is the case on all of social media. The problem here is that it alleges it has rules and conduct rules.
Complaints go unresolved. Stay clear

Banned
June 2, 2017

I was just banned because the site allowed me to sign in with my Facebook account. Some man clearly wearing pantyhose reported me for not using my real name. How is this even possible when their site allowed me to sign in using my Facebook account? The guy who complained was White and I'm not.

NOT SAFE! I was skeptical at first to use this as a close neighborhood communication page for lost pets and such but learned that you cant keep your privacy on this site from anybody. This diffidently puts people at risk of bringing problems to your front door of your family home. Your information is then on the www for anyone anywhere to gather way to much info about you and use it however they want.

NEXTDOOR Banned me from their site for exposing them for promoting people that have no contractors license at all and are performing duties that require a license such as installing new hardwired electrical appliances or building a new closet or adding lighting or plumbing. Handymen are only allowed to perform minor, casual, or inconsequential projects totaling less than $500 for the entire project. All electrical work is not inconsequential or minor or casual. Protect your family and assets by hiring a licensed insured contractor.
