Beware
August 19, 2017

Any site that asked you for your friend's contact list before you can complete the registration process is an invasion of privacy. Despite they calm you can control who you want to share your status. The moment you agreed they already full your list from your webmail account. Don't do it!

Your actual photo, displayed next to your actual name and actual address.

Followed by your announcement that you're going on vacation. Might as well put out a "Break-in wanted" sign on your front porch.

Enjoy saving the whales? Your anti-whale neighbors will now not only know who to gang up on, the radical zealots of their faction will know exactly where you sleep at night.

Have a nosey neighbor already? Congratulations. Now you have dozens and they now have the ability to file collaborative and false reports against you to the authorities.

Are you a minority of any kind? Are you a Christian? A Muslim? A Jew? Slightly darker or lighter of skin than some of your neighbors? Perhaps it would be easier to paint a target on your forehead or pin a "kick me" sign to your back, since you're basically letting any and all bigots close enough to throw rocks at you know your precise location by joining this network.

Are you a member the NRA? Have a few extra lbs you can't seem to lose, a lisp, tattoos, a bald spot, unatractive children, wear mom jeans, a too-flashy umbrella? Welcome to the wonderful world of profiling, harassment and shaming with a smattering of hate crime on the side.

Not to mention that Uncle Sam can now know your every move, in case he decides he wants us all to work 92 hours a week in his factories for a bag of rice ( Howdy, Chairman Mao!).

This entire concept is absolutely insane and by it's very nature, populated by idiots. Not once, not ever.

Biased organization
August 16, 2017

Just a budding version of East German Stasi ruled by left wing liberals that ban anyone with a opposing view. Unfortunately it brings out the insularity of your neighbors in some cases. The Leads act as judge and jury, truly not a democratic process organization.

When I joined Nextdoor it was mainly letting you know who your neighbors were and if you needed help with something you could post it on Nextdoor asking your neighbors if they could help and you would get several responses from others willing to help without expecting anything. Now your post for help would get buried by all they garage sale or for sale postings. Some people don't know how to add multiple photos to a sales listing, so they create 5 listings for 5 different items. I used to feel safe with Nextdoor but not anymore.

Sherri A - I agree

It sounds like, with your comments, we may well be living in the same neighborhood. My complaint fits yours to a T. A few people are truly disgusting on this site.

Next Door is being used to shame and bully a widowed woman living alone. Her "neighbors" are using ND to organize, meet and plan against her. ND published her picture and address. After allowing the post with picture and address to stay for 4 days the Lead finally agreed to remove the picture, but not the address. There seems to be no way to stop this tkype of posting.

I was "invited" by someone to join NextDoor and looking at their web site and the information they request and make available to anybody was frightening, I can't believe a web site created for STALKERS and for IDENTITY THEFT exists and, even worse, I can't believe that something around 175,000 people, according to the web site's claims, actually gave these $#*!ing people their private information.

Utterly amazing.

The "nextdoor" site in our community ran quite informative for a couple of years. Recently it has become nothing more than a free garage sale/Craig's list type of site. All I see on there now is a continuous barrage of for sale/rent items, but nothing dealing with the safety/security/connection of our neighborhoods.

After I accepted an invitation, I discovered that my Next Door group is not my little neighbourhood but a very large area. I keep trying to UNSUBSCRIBE but the site won't let me... keeps telling me my email address is not on their records, but multiple notifications keep being sent to that same email address every day! Total crap.

I feel bad for these other folks. Our Next Door is used properly. Posts included lost cats, helpful hints from our police department and street repair announcements. I love it and we never have bully's posting. I was even able to hire a part time person for my company through this medium. This is a great asset if used properly.

I've been a part of this site for 4 years and every step of the way I've seen it's just a site for GROWN PEOPLE to use it to slander, complain, be bigots, racists, pretentious and mean to each other. There MIGHT be 15% that are actually OK but this site seems to cater to those with too much time on their hands or to air issues while other neighbors debate online about the most asinine things.

My final straw was when they suspended my account because a neighbor complained not about my conduct, not about anything valid but my name... yes you heard that right. A neighbor said I used my MIDDLE NAME instead of my first name so they reported me and the site actually listened and suspended my account!

No matter that I was one of the FEW who used it for good, they just suspended and told me I would have to provide paperwork to validate them restoring. At that point I said it's not worth the hassle if you're that inept. So they can keep this site that is basically Craigslist but you actually can see the people insult you.

Our local Nextdoor was hijacked by a very well organized group with a political agenda. They bully anyone who disagreed with them and troll every post to add their hate filled messages. They used it as a platform to launch a recall campaign on our City Councilmember who was elected with 71% of the vote just 4 months earlier. The leads not only didn't moderate to stop this, but at least one was a key organizer. This is in complete violation of the Nextdoor code of ethics but complaints to the Nextdoor help line were ineffective. Sadly, I unsubscribed, losing the benefits of getting referrals and learning about community events - which is what I joined for.

I've been on the app since April 2017. I've read a few of the postings in the past & one recently about a young man being mugged while jogging that made the local news here in Atlanta. Very unfortunate & being a victim many years ago of being mugged I definitley empathized with this family. While reading the postings from members on this incident there were some comments made that left a bad taste in my mouth about the description of one of the muggers. This particular assailant who happen to be non-white with locks was referred to looking like "Predator". I read further of some comments made of this assailant in regards of him looking like "Predator". The victims desciption from what I read was clearly creative & innocent I assume, but I was annoyed with the comments from ignorant bigots/racist having a field day with this comparison. Tonight I was reprimanded for posting too many "For Sale" listings (3) items to be exact. A novice & trying to maneuver my way thru the app. Shortly after posting my items I got an email stating that someone had reported that I had broken the rules that I was unaware of due to my own ignorance. I rectified the situation imediately & responded to the Lead Admin in my Old 4th Ward area of Atlanta, Ga. That I had removed the listings & deleted myself from the app. I find it to be stupidity & bigotry in its highest regards to threaten me about rules of postings while your members blatantly make offensive racial remarks of bigotry & racism. Thank God for other apps, so we don't have to subject ourselves to klans men humor. ~O Damo'n

Wish I could leave less than 1 star. I will be happy to provide the emails back and forth, anyways nextdoor is horrible, they will flag/ban/suspend your account if you do not comply with their crap. Someone posted pictures of the maiming of small rabbits and squirrels, I told them its illegal to shoot ANY kind of weapon in the neighborhood. Now my accounts disabled.
Whishy washy admins and leads, total crap. This site has brought more drama in the last 6 months than I've experienced in the other 21.5years of living here.

As soon as I finagled myself into becoming a Nextdoor.com "Lead" for my neighborhood, another member who I suspect was with the POA/HOA had me LOCKED OUT FROM POSTING when I titled my post "Misappropriation of Funds?" This also locks you out of joining any of the "Groups" that I KNOW my suspected member of the POA Board has organized.

If you say anything against the communist run govt in california and people start to agree with you, they shut the thread down,,,, right now. You are only allowed to have left wing opinions on here. And then try to delete your personal info good luck on that
