NetSpend's reputation is largely tarnished by pervasive customer dissatisfaction, particularly related to its customer service and account management. Many users report significant challenges in activating cards, accessing funds, and receiving timely support, often facing long wait times and unhelpful representatives. Concerns about account security and unauthorized closures further exacerbate frustrations. While a few customers have expressed loyalty and satisfaction in the past, the overwhelming sentiment reflects a lack of reliability and transparency. Overall, potential customers are advised to exercise caution and consider alternative options for prepaid services.

When you have an un authorized payment coming in customer account you cancel the transaction NOT CUSTOMER CARD and then you keep customer money lock in your bank! Worse your representative offers me a new card with option to pay 25$ to have delivered 1-2 days the card or I'm waiting for 7 days for new card. Do you will pay my late fee penalties for my bills or you thing I will feed my family with grass? IDIOTS this is my money and you never should to block my access to take my money and pay you maintenance fee and fee for new card.
I went to Walmart and bought one of these cards. I go online, make an account, and they refuse to let me in. This is ridiculous, if I put the money on the card I should be able to use the money! Customer support was just as unhelpful. Called Walmart to get a refund and they said it wasn't their problem. Avoid this company at all costs.

Had my account hacked and it's taken months for my dispute. Clearly a person can see by charges that a red flag is drawn. Also received text stating that account was closed and sent me a new card.
We do not recommend posting your account information on a public website.

You are required to submit confidential documents. Review team is supposed to get back with you by 6 business hours but does not. None of the CSR's I have talked with speak fluent English. Will not transfer you to someone who does. I would never, ever, under any circumstances, recommend NetSpend. Horrible. This was supposed to be a birthday present for my son, and we have now spent several days past his birthday trying to get this card activated. Do not waste your time or money.

I was given a Netspend gift card for my birthday. I couldn't even use it until I setup an account with them. I tried to reach customer support several times and couldn't reach anyone. After I registered it and used my card they charged me $1.50 for each charge. So I canceled my card and they would issue a check refund minus $5.95 for processing. This is such a scam and I will never use this company again. I will make sure I tell all my friends and family as well.
I had no choice to give them a one star because you have to rate them
We are sorry to hear about your experience. Netspend offers prepaid debit cards, not gift cards. If you would like to speak with us about the card you received, please email [email protected].

Netspend is the worst. It's so difficult setting up the card in the first place and then it didn't work (kept getting rejected online) so we had to keep calling back. Ugh... never again.

Don't not use netspend I switched from card.com to netspend and that was the worst mistake I made... netspend ended up charging me 56.00 in fees for 1 week and Bankcorp bank (card.com) only charges me a 1 time monthly fee of 9.95 dollars to use my card vs using netspend and getting 1.50 taken off my card everytime I use it... netspend is a joke and I am going to cut my card up because I done switched back to bankcorp bank...

We loaded our netspend card at 711 store on saturday with $300 dollars and we got a notification but the funds never came in on the app. We have not been able to use the money and lost work and money due to this. Clerks at 711 saying call netspend and of course netspend is saying its 711 we need to check with. My wife went today to speak to 711 manager witht the reciept. If nothing is being done we are filing a lawsuit agains netspend today.

I purchased a vintage 87 Sims Staab Pirate skateboard from a seller in Florida. When I got the package, it was a counterfeit that had been doctored up is absolutely worthless. I paid with my Netspend card that I have had for over a decade. I had to open a claim that to show proof that included screen shots from Facebook Messenger showing he stated that it was an original OG Sims Staab Pirate and he was selling it to help pay his daughter's medical bills from Cancer. I should have been smarter but I learned that is the standard MO for getting the mark to get them to trust them. I showed his messages and my multiple attempts to return the item and never getting a response. I also learned over the Facebook collector groups that my scammer had scammed several people. I sent their testimonials stating that the same Glen had burned them as well along with screenshots of several of his Facebook profiles using different names to scam people. What more could I have sent them? I had purchased a fake coin out of China a few years back off EBay and they did the exact same thing and didn't refund me my money but I just took the loss and blamed myself for being careless. I had mentioned to a friend what had happened and what all I had to do and time that I had to wait, he was blown away and said that he has had accounts with over 10 banks and they would have reimbursed his $ without having to build a prosecutor's entire case and would have had the $ back in his account, I realized that Netspend doesn't ever reimburse anyone because they are criminals. I live in Texas and I am going to find out who in Austin is running this criminal enterprise and I am going to get my pound of flesh. On God! Stay away from these bottom feeders and watch what our almighty father does to the modern day Sodom & Gomorrah that is Netspend.
This card company put a hold on my deposit for an old card from Jan. I called right away on Friday to resolve it. I had no idea. I was told one day it would be resolved. Past one day, I missed my hours and pay at my job today due to no gas to drive over an hour. Some representatives have been very short and rude... this f... card needs shut down. After my experience I'm going to do everything possible to shut it down with others. Horrible experience, still don't have my deposit I worked for.

I had a deposit that was sent under my business name to my Netspend account. I called to get the money sent back to the sender and the customer service did not get my name right and I gave home my card number (8) times and he still got it wrong. He did not speak English properly and would not put a supervisor on the phone, in the end he hung up on me. Now they still have not sent the money back and it payroll money and they went from a (2) day turn around to (6) days! Now I'm still on hold cause this customer service person just has me on hold when I asked for a supervisor and it's been a hour. I think they are very unprofessional and I will not trust them anymore with my money. They have customer service people work from an other country that can't speak English and properly stealing your personal information for all we know!
Don't use them! Don't use them! Don't use them!
Still on holed!

Hi, we're sorry to hear about your experience. Please send an email to [email protected]. We will be glad to assist you.
I was given two Netspend cards as a holiday gift. A few months later, when I went to use them, I loaded the Netspend app and had to enter all of my personal information, including SS# before I can activate the cards. Then I see that they have been deducting $5.95 a month from the total. They are deceptively taking away gift money until there's none left. I'm sure people that have the app to use a gift card have no idea they're accruing monthly charges, which continue to mount up. You can't even close the account on their app; you have to call them and give the phone reps all of your personal information again. Ridiculous and unethical! I would never recommend this company.
Hi, we're sorry to hear about your experience. Please send an email to [email protected] if you still need assistance.
This is a fraudulent big scam company that must be shut down by the authorities. Purchased a Netspend Master card from CVS, they cashed the money and never answered the phone to activate the card. We spent over 4 hours trying to talk to them, they keep asking for more personal information but won't activate my card.
We're sorry to hear that you are having verification issues and haven't been able to activate your card. Please email [email protected] if you still need assistance.
Do not try to use a Netspend Debit card for more money than is on it and you don't have another way to pay what is due. They will take what is on the card and the store you are at will not be able to refund the card to reverse the charge. It is a pain in the neck for your merchant and you will not have success with Netspend's customer service either. I called and they put the $$ back on my card but when I went to use it again Netspend declined the sale at a small retailer and at Walmart where I bought and loaded the card. When I called again the agent put me on hold and never came back to the call. Walmart should not sell these cards. I would rate this company with a zero if that was a choice.
We're sorry to hear that you aren't happy with your card services. If you have questions about using your prepaid debit card, please email [email protected].
Thank you,
Netspend
Do not but these. I purchased mine at a Walmart store and had $140.00 put on. Netspend ran me in circles for 6 hours and would eventually put me on hold and never answer, refused to let me speak with a higher up and Most Definitely would not consider a refund. I went back to Walmart and they said it's not they're problem, but yet Walmart sells the cards, loads the cards but MOST Definitely will not honor what they are selling. This is a scam on so many levels and I'm complexed by how this company can keep selling this Scam product in American stores. Walmart should be ashamed for letting they're long time customers get ripped off and not even say sorry or remove the cards after I told and showed all the evidence.
We're sorry to hear that you are having issues with the activation process.

I have been with netspend for 10 years and never had an issue, all of sudden, I am 2$ over and thats fine, but I have received an email in my mailbox saying that they have new fees. So in retrospect, I spent 2$ extra and had to pay 50 plus dollars just to use my account again. Horrible people. Will be switching banks. NEVER AGAIN..
That doesn't sound right. We can review your fee plan and features of your card with you. Please email us at [email protected].
