I contracted with National Floors Direct (NFD) to redo my entire 3-level townhouse save for three bathrooms. I paid a total of $25,000, which, had to be paid in full before they would start. The
Contract was signed (VA*******) on 6/19/23 and work began 7/12/23. When the installers removed the carpeting from the two sets of stairs, they found that they were already hardwood, and did not
Need to be covered by the engineered hardwood I had purchased. It would be covering a superior product with an inferior one. The NFD salesman said the cost of doing the two sets of stairs
Was $8,500, which is mostly tied up in labor, not supplies. On 7/19/ 23, NFD offered me a take it or leave it offer of $1,200. This is absurd considering expended hardly any money on the steps. I believe $8,000 is a more accurate estimate, which accounts for restocking fees and the work the installers did on the steps of removing the carpeting and removing the fasteners. It is now 8/12/23, and NFD still refuses to return my money even though they would not cost them to do so (except for interest they are accruing on my money perhaps). Please don't use this company.

Starting
July 24, 2023

National Floors Direct did a fantastic job when we recently replaced the carpet in our bedroom. The entire process was simple and comfortable, starting with our initial call and continuing through our installation with sales representative Robert. There were numerous samples available, and it was pleasant to browse in the comfort of our own home. Installers of the carpet were cordial and skilled, showing up on schedule, and cleaning up after themselves. Without a doubt recommended them.

Measurement
July 24, 2023

Being involved with National Floors Direct was a wonderful experience. The customer support representative was quite professional. She scheduled a measurement the next day. The salesperson was also courteous. He had all of the samples and gave excellent suggestions. The installers were excellent. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.

Reasonable
July 24, 2023

We had a fantastic experience working with National Floors Direct! From the salesman to the installation, everything was excellent! We had our bedrooms and stairs carpeted, as well as our small laundry room floor replaced. We couldn't be more pleased with the service we received. They were quick and efficient, and the pricing was reasonable. We shall return in the future.

National Floors Direct provides the highest level of professionalism. They exceeded all expectations, from promptness to attentiveness. They called ahead of time and arrived on time for my appointment, leaving a clean and perfect finish. Their installers even went above and beyond to assure my wife's contentment, demonstrating their dedication to client satisfaction. Best of all, their prices were unexpectedly low. I've already told all of my friends and family about National Floors Direct. I am proud to do so because of them.

Achieved stunning
June 23, 2023

At the start of our remodeling project, I was unsure of what we needed. Thanks to the expertise of our design team and flooring installer, we have learned a great deal and achieved stunning results ahead of schedule. While not every project goes this smoothly, I am sincerely grateful for our success.

Worst Company Ever!
June 13, 2023

This is honestly the worst company I have ever worked with! First, the salesperson didn't know what he was doing and sold me flooring that doesn't match my present flooring. The installers never showed me the flooring before ripping out my carpet. I called National Floors Direct to let them know the color recommended by their salesperson did not match and they told me it was my fault. I wanted to see if I can change out the flooring for something that does match. National Floors Direct wanted to charge me a $1700 restocking fee to change the color even though they say they are direct to the warehouse. Seriously? I finally agreed to pay $500 extra, They said they'll send somebody out to install it. The people came about three hours later and told me they don't move electric beds. Now what am I supposed to do as a 63-year-old woman, move my king-size bed myself? This company sucks. I have no idea how they got so many positive reviews because they can't possibly be true. Reconsider before you ever hire this company. Oh- and I forgot to mention- they do NOT take credit cards and do not tell you that upfront and they demand payment upfront!

BUYER BEWARE!
May 1, 2023

BUYER BEWARE! I called NFD based on a commercial of $788 installed, of course when Drew the sales rep came out, it was 3x the special since the room offered was incredibly small (OF COURSE). Normal pitch---Drew was very nice. We connected on a personal level, with him telling me he was a good Christian, past business man and basically doing this as a hobby. I BELIEVED him. He gave me his cell phone # in case I needed anything, but sadly that didn't work. I met with Drew on 3/31/23. Part of the pitch was if you find something cheaper, the floor is free. Once I found estimates cheaper than NFD, I texted Drew. He called me back and sadly, this had to be done BEFORE the contract is signed. What does that tell you? Wouldn't a reputable company honor that regardless? I let Drew know this and that being in the industry, this product should be $5-$6 a SF installed. He argued they use a better Shaw product, which is a good product, but exclusive to NFD, not the public. The other estimates were approx. $700 less expensive from locals, as well as Empire flooring. A big competitor of theirs. We scheduled the installation for 4/3/23. Drew mentioned that borders would be installed to match, a water test would be performed, etc. The installers arrived and were very nice. They did a nice job on the install itself. They NEVER performed a water test Drew mentioned. After a few hours, the job was near completion and I noticed they were installing a stark white border around the perimeter of my kitchen. I stopped them and asked what that was and would they be painting it. They said no, that's our job. I cannot tell you how terrible this looked on a dark brown barn wood floor. They advised me to call the office, which I did and spoke to Kevin who would not give me his last name or position. Kevin had the personality of the flea, but told me to refer to my 25 page contract (didn't tell me where to find it) on the border. I told him I don't care what the contract read, Drew and I discussed this person to person and NOT ONCE was a white border mentioned. Drew specifically knew my husband wanted to do the floor, but with his schedule, I wanted to leave NOTHING for him to do, so a white border was not part of the planned. I was given no option or solution! I asked the installers to remove the white border, which they did and left all jagged edges and gaps around my kitchen. I immediately called Drew since he seemed to be a gentleman of integrity and he told me he would call the office and get back to me. From April 3, to today, May 1, I have yet to hear back from Drew. Not a company of integrity I'm accustomed to doing business with. Again, this is my field, so sad. In addition, when the installers left, they drove over my side lawn and ruined a meticulously maintained lawn. I once again, sent Drew a photo of the lawn and asking what to do, and no surprise, no response at all. Something else very odd, that I have NEVER seen before. For a project now over $2,000, they asked for a $300 deposit upon signing. I was then told the balance would be do the day of. Okay, fine as well, but had to be money order, certified check or cash. When the installers arrived, they immediately asked for the cash. I said, okay, of course that's after completion. They said, no, they needed the money before they started or they can't stay. Who does that before they see the finished product? Me! What does that tell you about this company? Any company that stands behind their work would never have this practice, but now I know why. Do yourself a favor and use a local company or Empire. These advertisements are gimmicks. Now this is in the hands of my attorney to get my lawn repair reimbursed. Not worth it!

Extraordinary experience
March 25, 2023

With National Floors Direct, the extraordinary experience of getting new carpets was simply enhanced. From start to finish they showed utmost professionalism and courtesy - even going as far as graciously moving my furniture during installation! Best of all? After their job was done, each piece looked just like it did before; with attention placed so precisely in order to give me back what I started with. It's no wonder this company is highly recommended- because after having seen them at work myself, there's now nothing but praise for a job exceptionally well done!

They said they would be here from 7:30 to 12:30 they didn't come until 3:30 then they looked around and it looked to me very suspicious then he said do you have cash I said yes they he wanted the money first. He wouldn't due job he had a deposit but would due anything till they were paid in full. I didn't even see the rug and he wouldn't install till all was paid. The customer service was horrible I call she said I signed a contract they scam me because I said I would pay cash when job was done. They said we are keeping my deposit and then they left.

DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF!
March 8, 2023

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use this company. It is a rip-off and their installation, warranty and customer service are horrendous. Had this floor installed in April of 2022 and a month or so ago noticed that some of the seams started to come up oft the floor. Also noticed that the
"boards" were starting to "bow" up. I called and was told my warranty was only 90 days and there was nothing that National Floors Direct could do and I would have to go to an outside source to get it fixed. Now, when the salesman initially scammed me, he said that they would
"mud" the floor over the existing tiles so the tiles wouldn't have to be removed. When the installer came, who bought his wife along as a helper, came, he told me he wasn't going to use mud, and that a thin layer of foam would suffice. Well, obviously, that did not work. Now, about the initial installation. The installer had to come back numerous times. The floor was installed so that the boards tell short of the walls. He came back and just tilled in the gaps with caulking. The saddles kept coming up. He came back and reglued them and then told me to put cement cinder blocks on them for two days until the glue dried. After a day, I noticed that the veneer on my wall was ripped apart. The installer, when trying to pull the moulding off ripped it off the wall. Think he would have told me? No, didn't even think to. I understand mistakes are made, but not to tell me and then just to try and hide it. Unacceptable. This floor is a piece of junk. The salesman was a great scammer. Got me to believe him. The installer seemed like he had no idea what he was doing. So, once again, DON'T GET SCAMMED. USE A LOCAL FLOOR GUY INSTEAD. Might be a little more dollars, but to not have to deal with the aggravation, it is worth it.

Value for money
February 9, 2023

There are just too many reasons to use NFD not to use them. I mean they have all the top brands at the lowest prices. How can you go wrong? I'm not cheap. If I see something I want, I'll pay for it but why pay more if you don't have to?

National Floors Direct left my house unhabitable.
February 7, 2023

Consider these before hiring them:
• There are different departments, like sales, installations, and customer service. Each department works independently. In my case, they constantly contradicted each other. The common trend was that whatever they said was not true.
• First red flag for me was when the sales person tried to convince me to sign the contract right after he gave me an estimate. He claimed that the price would go up the moment he steps out of the door. I felt very uncomfortable with that arrangement. Is it not common sense to give a customer time to consider and make a wise decision?
• Second red flag was the absurd length of the contract, and the number of times that I had to sign. I should have known something was fishy when that many signatures were required.
• Third red flag was that they collected all the money upfront, down payment on the day that the contract is signed, and remaining balance before installer started working. They accept cash, bank checks, wire transfers. Once paid, there is no way to get the money back. They do not accept credit cards, so there is no way to dispute the charges.
• They did not do the installation themselves, like the sales person had promised; they subbed it to a "reputable" subcontractor. The sub did not seem reputable to me when he arrived, a guy and his girlfriend in in unmarked van. So, I asked them immediately to cancel my contract. They said that I could not do it, and threatened to send the balance to their collection department even if I did not go ahead with the installation.
• Their hard wood is actually engineered wood, not real hard wood. It is a very thin layer of hardwood on the outside, and plywood in the middle. To me, it is just fancy laminate. Overall, it's thin, prone to scratch and other damages, and cannot be sanded or fixed later.
• The installer told me that subfloor is not suitable, needs to be reinforced for the fancy laminate that was supposed to be installed on top. The sales person had checked the subfloor, and said it was OK. That voided the 3 months installation's and 10 years manufacturer's warranties that the sales person had promised. I could get the work done at a fraction of the cost if I had gone to a local flooring company and did the work without warranty.
• Installation was supposed to be completed in a day, but the Installer did not finish; said he will come back the next day. Also said that the sales person had done the measurements incorrectly, and he needed more material. He left my house in a mess. The new floor was for the family room only, but there were sawdust, garbage, and boxes of material all over my kitchen, living, and dining rooms. He had glue on his shoes, and had walked all over the floors and stairs. Could not find a place without glue marks in the entire house. For good safety measured, nails and staples were left everywhere. For bonus, they had scratched and damaged the floors too.
• He did not come back the next day, like he had promised, or the day after, which again he had promised. Customer service informed me that it will take more than 2 weeks to get more the extra material, the installer will not come back until then, and there is nothing I could do about it. Based on contract, they have 2 months to finish a job once they start. What a joke.
• National Floors Direct left my house unhabitable. I did not want my kids to get hurt, and moved my family to my parent's. I spent thousands of dollars to clean up and fix the damages caused by them before I was able to move back to my own house.
• I was fooled by the positive online reviews, which seem fabricated and fishy to me now. I ignored the red flags. In my entire life, I had never felt as screwed and helpless as this before.
• You know how they do business now; I only hope that you do not repeat my mistakes.
