Namecheap was my first experience with domain name registration. After my purchase, I was a little confused about how to point my new domain to my server. I found the experience of shopping with namecheap very easy and straight forward.
Seems like a great price and a straightforward easy process to transfer my domains. I would encourage you to move towards a more centralized domain and hosting configuration option as they are currently a bit separated which might be confusing to some users. I imagine going somewhere like "ACCOUNT" and on the left or top there would be tabs like DOMAINS HOSTING ect where it could all be done in one shell. Thanks.
You guys won me as a customer for not supporting SOPA. This is my last domain from GoDaddy. I've had an account with GoDaddy for over 10 years. Needless to say I highly recommend you to all of my clients and friends. Stay cool :)
It was easy and there were more than one payment option.
I'm a newbie, I went around in circles buying a domain name from a couple of your competitors. Your check out was easy to use. All good.
I purchased a domain. Paid by VISA debit card. Payment went through, no problem, domain was delivered. I set up servers on the domain, and then received an email telling me that namecheap's fraud department flagged my account, and that my domain was now locked and would not be unlocked (and would be canceled) unless I sent them a color photo (front and back with some info obscured) of the credit card I used to make the purchase. After several online chats and emails (where they would not tell me *why* I was flagged. Remember, the payment had already gone through!) I finally gave up, and against my better judgment sent them the photos, and they unlocked the account. They promised that they will keep the photos private, so I apparently I shouldn't worry about identity theft.
Looking online, I see I'm not the only namecheap customer to have this experience. It's only an $** purchase, but namecheap lost my future business over this ordeal.
Good shopping experience but was dissapointed in that no renewal coupons are available.
I did a lot of research before picking the right domain name registrar, literally a couple weeks. Early on I made the mistake of searching on Go-Daddy and low and behold they stole the domain name i wanted. After looking through several other sites undecided, i was overwhelmed by all the positive reviews for Namecheap so here i decided to give namecheap a shot and so far I'm not disappointed.
