Namecheap are one of the world's best domain registrars, and it shows. I bought a couple of domains a few years ago, back when the UI wasn't as pretty as it is today. They have been consistently great in my time with them and I don't believe I'll ever switch to another company for domains.
The private email service is awesome. I always used GMail before going with Namecheap's OpenExchange platform and the OX platform works better for me.
I have been with Namecheap for sometimes now, spent a few hundreds dollars on domain name.
Today I wanted to renew a domain which expire in 11 days.
I tried to renew via my account but it says that I can't for whatever reason, I contacted support who said that I needed to renew 12 days prior to expiration or I need to spend $200+ to have it, OR let it expires and wait 30 days to renew it a normal cost. This is a joke, I never encounter problems like that with providers like Godaddy, Ghandi, register.com or 123-reg. I strongly recommend that you do not deal with namecheap regarding your domain names, They are thieves.
Namecheap is unresponsive. The risk of losing a domain name is extremely high with Namecheap. Since they are not responsive a domain can lapse and you can lose your domain. They have no phone number to call. None. They operate using only email which they often do not respond to.
Namecheap has great prices and they are transparent about 2nd year domain prices when you first buy it. It is important because for some domain extensions, the prices can be doubled on the second year.
1. Now, at peak time during week days, the website is so slow so that it will take a long time to do basic domain maintenance. If you are in hurry that's not good. Sometimes the pageload just freezes and there is nothing you can do about it, you have to wait.
2. In order to get the authorization code for a transfer you have to wait 5 days
3. Namecheap is only an affiliate from enom.com
We contacted NameCheap to complain about one of their clients "AvalonPhoneFix.Ca" who is fraudulently using our toll free telephone number on their website being hosted on the NameCheap.Ca servers. In the first Chat Name Cheap admitted to being the Host for "AvalonPhoneFix.Ca", then in their second reply, their Abuse Dept. tried to deny it. So I had to prove that the fraudulent website was being hosted on the Name Cheap servers. Then the Name Cheap Abuse Dept. (Alexander Pe, Shift Leader) ignored our Invoice proving our ownership of the Toll Free Number in question. If Name Cheap is supporting fraudulent activity then we ought to reasonably assume and presume that they are prone to committing such illegal criminal acts themselves.
