I am currently a new member with NACA and heard about the program while researching home buyer assistance programs in my state. NACA is an excellent program for those trying to purchase a home in today's economy AND market. The program requires ZERO down payments or closing costs and doesn't consider your credit score as a qualifier for your home purchase! I am looking forward to this new journey.
I found NACA through a Cousin of mine, she posted it onto her Facebook. I completed the first two steps. Process is going great so far!
Word of mouth is how most people find out about NACA, sharing their own success stories! Keep going! As the late Congressman John Lewis often said, "Never give up and never give in". We look forward to seeing you at the closing table!
I have been a member of the NACA program for over a year. In the past 5 months, I have been working with my counselor to get approved for a mortgage. This has not been an easy process, but I'm hopeful the results will favorably compensate for the process. My best advice is to remain patient with yourself, the process, and your counselor. Wishing everyone a successful homebuying experience!
Thank you for your comments. Patience is indeed one of the most powerful tools you will have in the NACA process. You also need to be relentless, committed to never giving up. The results are always worth it.
Naca is the best program ever I am getting a low interest rate no down payment am working with a great counselor I am so excited I highly recommend NACA
We are excited for you and look forward to handing you the keys to your new home soon!
I found out about this home buying program, no down payment, no closing costs, no private mortgage insurance, no fees, they don't look at credit scores and can help people become homeowners. The process is very taxing, but I pray the benefit of owning my own home will be worth it. I have a good Counselor and I should be NACA Qualified within the next month or so.
Those terms you mention are one of the major reasons NACA's mortgage program is referred to as the Best in America. The process does require patience and commitment, but it is indeed worth it!
NACA has given us hope toward a path for home ownership. We are so glad that we followed up with this recommendation from a sibling about NACA. This has been a long process, but we are hopeful that we will purchase our home very soon. -Gregory B
Word of mouth is by far the most common way people find out about NACA, as is your case. Stay on the path, continue to work closely with your counselor, and we will look forward to handing you the keys to your new home!
Doing the first workshop, it was well put together and very informative. Thank you, NACA, for allowing me to participate in this program.
The initial Home Buyers Workshop contains a great deal of information showing how the NACA program is different from the "traditional" homebuying progress and how to use the NACA program to become a homeowner with terms that can't be found anywhere else. The program isn't meant to be fast or easy, but the results are well worth it. We wish you the best on your journey to homeownership!
Thus far, I have had a great experience with NACA program. From the start of the homebuyer workshop to my first and follow-up counseling sessions with my Counselor Nijah and my assigned Realtor! I have had a pleasant experience thus far! I am looking forward to continue on this journey and seeing it through to completion! Thank you NACA for making what deemed impossible, possible!
Thank you for your comments. We hope you will provide an update after your close on your new home!
I heard about NACA through my sister. No closing cost, No fees, No mortgage insurance, and it's doesn't matter about credit score. I have started my process and have to give a big Thanks to the Houston office Lori Jenkins!
Another NACA member who learned about us through word of mouth! We are happy you have gotten off to a good start and look forward to helping your become a homeowner!
As a 1st time home buyer, I was referred to the NACA program and I decided to check it out. The NACA process allows for you to learn how to manage or maintain your budget and understand the homeowner process. My counselor, Sonya Scheler has been attentive and wonderful at explaining the process and necessary steps in order to be successful. I can admit this is a process that will not happen in 30 days but knowing what NACA offers (no down payments, closing cost, credit scores not required, and below market fixed rates) It's worth the wait.
So many people are commenting about how they have learned personal financial management skills in addition to achieving affordable homeownership! Keep working with your counselor and follow her instructions as well as your Action Plan. You'll have those keys sooner than you think!
Erna W. Is an AWESOME counselor! She was very helpful and friendly. I am very excited about my journey to becoming a homeowner! I am prepared and ready.
Erna W. Is indeed an outstanding counselor with a true passion for NACA's mission of Economic Justice. Great advice too! We wish you the best on your journey to homeownership!
NACA is a great program for 1st time homeowners, and people dealing with predatory home loans
This agency is a God send our Mortgage Counselor Janay is truly special, and extremely Good at what she does Thank you Janay. Thank you NACA for hiring this special Lady.
Thanks for your kind words about Janay. She is an outstanding member of our Las Vegas team, and gives her all each day for our members.
Good day to all, today was a very productive day, my session went very good with Mr. Benard Obichie, he always makes me feel comfortable throughout this process, and I'm thankful to him, he is very good and knows what he's doing, plus he answers me when I reach out. Thank you
Benard is a highly experienced counselor who is focused on getting results for his members. Keep working closely with him, any you WILL become a homeowner with the unbeatable terms of the NACA mortgage!
NACA is a great opportunity to assist with financing your first home. The opportunity to get a sub-prime interest rate is a great opportunity for any one seeking a mortgage.
Not to be picky, but I believe you mean "below market" interest rate instead of "sub-prime" interest rate. It was in fact the sub-prime lenders that dealt out unaffordable mortgages like playing cards during the housing bubble of the early 2000's, usually with outrageous, sometimes double-digit, interest rates. Had the NACA standard been the National standard back then, those loans would have been avoided and the bubble with its accompanying recession never would have happened. Either way, NACA is here to help primarily low and moderate income buyers get a genuinely affordable mortgage and we look forward to seeing you at the closing table.
It was a pleasure, the staff was very helpful, really explained everything to me he breaks down all the information and guide me true. Thank you!
I started with NACA some time ago. I was excited I did everything I was asked to do. After my second appointment my rep stop taking calls and didn't answer any emails. Here I am years later and still trying to get in touch with this lady. I have even called corporate office and the guy on the other end told me I have to pay for two years membership and also pay for a credit check. That was not helpful considering I asked how do I get a new rep and also about the lack of communication with my current rep. I even attended a new workshop class online during covid and was told I need to contact the old rep. This place has given such a head ache. They say they help people and I am not saying that they don't but the fact I can't get in touch either email or by phone is said. When I look at my action plan a lot has expired and a lot is still done. I don't like the run around and no one on same page. Some one told me that it wasn't a good idea to try them because they always had a new rep when it was time for another appointment. When files were uploaded to take away from having to do so in the office it would be said they don't have the files but asked for a payment. Now where in the rule book does it say you charge me everytime I come in? According to the rep in texas in which I was on that workshop call with a bunch of other cities. He said your supposed to be charged yearly not monthly/every visit. It's a shame! I find it funny looking back at testimonies I don't see not a 1 on the site for Cleveland, Oh. I am from Cleveland, Oh and my NACA rep was/is Tonda Easly works out of the Euclid office.
We are sorry you have gone through such confusion. However, it appears that you, however unintentionally, created the circumstances that caused the concerns you have expressed.
To get a new rep as you had asked, you must be an active member in good standing in the NACA program. The request “to pay for two years membership and also pay for a credit check” indicates that you had been inactive in the program for well over a full calendar year, since those are the only circumstances in which you would have been asked for the previous year’s membership dues plus the current year’s dues.
The terms regarding dues and membership are outlined in your NACA Qualification Workbook and also in the Membership Agreement you signed when you first started the program. Without being a member in good standing, you may not access the NACA mortgage program and are therefore not entitled to counseling beyond the basic HUD certified housing counseling that occurs in the first appointment. This is also detailed in your Membership Agreement.
To be active in the NACA program, you must abide by the rules of the NACA program. It appears by your own statements here that you allowed your membership to lapse and were therefore no longer eligible to access the NACA mortgage program. As such, you would no longer be eligible to have an assigned counselor. Therefore you would not have gotten a response from your now-former counselor.
Had you simply followed the instructions of the person you spoke with at the corporate office, you would have become an active member once again and your concerns would have been easily resolved.
We strongly suggest you contact a NACA National Service Rep at 425-602-6222, option 1, to arrange for your reinstatement so we can continue to help you move forward in your efforts to become a homeowner.
Abiding by the rules of the NACA program, or any other program of any sort, is dependent upon abiding by the rules of that program. If you will simply take the steps necessary to become eligible and active in the program again, we will be happy to work with you again to reach your goal of homeownership.
So far, am excited to find a program like this. They work with you diligently make sure your are on the right path.
Thank you for your comments. NACA is in fact a counseling program and not just a mortgage application process. Guiding our members on that "right path" to help our members prepare for affordable and responsible homeownership is key to our greater mission of fighting for Economic Justice. We are excited that you are part of it!
Wanted to shed some light on to the counselor that really took me under her wing taught me a lot and was very patient when I didn't understand what I was getting into she help me understand and her name is LaJundra Carr. I would like to say thank you to Naca for hiring the personnel with the skills to help people like me. Thank you so much! And for people that ever wants to get into this program is a good deal just be patient and I'll walk you right through it
Thank you for your comments. LaJundra and all the members of our Remote Counseling Team are focused on guiding our members toward achieving homeownership. We hope you will pass it along and help others get started in the NACA program. Enjoy your home!
This is a great program for those who are serious about buying a home. No money down! No closing cost! No PMI! Naca is allowing homeownership to become possible!
Thank you for your comments. The incredible terms of the NACA mortgage are what makes it possible for us to make affordable homeownership a reality for so many people. Thanks for being part of the mission!
So, I just completed my first appointment with my NACA counselor. It took me several, and I mean several, months to get to this meeting. Don't you dare miss or even think about rescheduling your counselor meeting, cuz hontie... the next NACA meeting available will for sure be at least 3 months out, on a Saturday, and of course at the same time as your best friend's birthday, yup, the one whose birthday you agreed to host months ago. Long story short, I had to reschedule... twice.
I have my meeting with my counselor, and let me tell yall, I am thinking I am killin the game, cuz I spent all night upload, cutting, pasting, downloading, organizing, checking and double checking to make sure I got all my lil ducks in a row; so I can hopefully get my new house by next week.
Hmmm, well, another long story short, after meeting with my counselor, who eventually warmed up to me, I'm pretty sure by the end of this process, she is coming to my housewarming party after I get my NACA house. I walked away with a chubby list of items I needed to complete before our next meeting aka "adult homework" and a tentative guide on how much house I could really afford.
I guess not too bad for the third step of the journey. (Insert Shoulder shrug emoji here)
You are absolutely right, it is a journey, and it should be! It's probably the biggest financial transaction of your lifetime, so in reality, "so I can hopefully get my new house by next week" shouldn't even be part of your agenda. ;) (Insert wink emoji here)
In fact, with that kind of focus, intensity and dedication, you ARE killing it! It's just not a fast process to begin with, and with so many people wanting to use our services, those long periods between appointments make us all a victim of our own success.
We are working on several ways to reduce those wait times, and it's starting to pay off. One major item is a complete redesign of how you interact with your file on line, designed to simplify the document upload process while increasing your ability to verify documents have been properly received and the ability to schedule your own appointment on line while making it simpler to verify your status. Your counselor will also be able to spend less time managing your documents, thus allowing him or her to make more efficient use of their time. The change is so comprehensive that we are even changing the name. You will now log on to the NACA Member Portal to access your file. This should be in place by the end of February, so keep watching the NACA website for details.
All in all, you're doing great! Stick with it! The really cool thing is that even if we're not there in person, we get to be part of the housewarming party anyway!

Answer: I decided to go with NACA because they don't consider your credit score and the counselors work with you to become qualified. NACA has made me more diligent with saving money by not spending on wants but needs. This method has strengthen my assets considerably. Also, because you have to volunteer your services as you see fit at least 5x a year which is great because you are giving back to the community. DEE in Far Rockaway
