Results that I received were based on the information about my family that I put myself on their website. All my family members including grand and great grandparents are from middle Russia - never been abroad and by no chance almost 50% of my genes can be British and Western European. My feeling is that they wrongly assumed that if my address is in the UK then my ancestry should be part British part Irish. Can't feel anything but disappointment at this nicely made rip-off. Avoid MyHeritage Dna testing by all means! They are scammers!
Could not change the e-mail address for one of my site members listed. Though the family site had the correct e-mail address, the site members area did not. I could not change it. I believe the member had a personal MyHeritage site also and used an e-mail address that is no longer being used. As that member listed the e-mail address I was unable to invite her to view my family site. Got it corrected via calling in for help. Received an invite shortly after. Thanks
I saw the MyHeritage DNA kits are on sale for Mother's Day. I went to order more than one, and saw that there is no price break for shipping, to send multiple kits to the same address. Why not?
Dear Douglas,
Thank you for your review here on SiteJabber.
Unfortunately the shipping costs are not something that MyHeritage can do anything about. The shipping costs are provided by the postal/shipping companies used. We do take this in to consideration however and this is why we have from time to time special offers such as the mother's day sale and our normal DNA kit price is one of the lowest in the market today.
Trusting this has proven useful to you.
Kind Regards,
Dean,
MyHeritage Team.
I returned my DNA sample I live in Great Britain my Heritage claimed they had received it sent me emails with a video of there supposed lab etc. Very impressed until I received my results I am 100% British very vague no break down at all. SAVE YOUR MONEY DONT BOTHER.

Having several Family Trees on the go, I needed clarification of subscriptions. A lady called Eve was very helpful, very pleasant and supplied all the information I required.
My only complaint (and it is NOT against Eve!) is the length of time I waited on the 'phone - even though a disembodied voice told me more than 25 times that I was "first in the queue" and would be answered by the next available operator. I also agree with other commentators that the "whistling muzak" is so annoying!
However, at the end of the day, I got the information requested and I'll just try not to call for help or support too often!
I received prompt service from Aaron on my issue and thank him for that. I remain puzzled why I need to make 2 payments each year to MY HERITAGE and why these cannot be combined. I think we need to be much clearer in transactions that we have to make and MY HERITAGE could consider doing so in their reviews of their services perhaps by offering to make adjustments so payments are due only once per year.
Nevertheless I am very happy with MY HERITAGE at this time and am enjoying the new matching services provided..
I ordered the kit, received it fine however sent it back over 3 weeks ago. Still shows on their website that kit has not been received. I have made repeated attempts to find out what happened to the DNA sample and if it has been lost in transit, do I get a refund or another kit? Have tried to e-mail, phone and all I get is "we'll get back to you when we can". Order thru Ancestory. My friend got her results back a week ago.

I strongly advise everyone thinking about using My Heritage to reconsider. I sent in my DNA samples, after paying $81, with shipping. At 7 weeks, after I sent it back, I emailed to see where my results were. After receiving no reply, I emailed again. No one returned my email until the 8 week mark when they informed me that they were sending me another DNA test kit, at "no additional charge." THEY LOST MY DNA!" At this point, 11 weeks after I initially emailed them, no one has returned my message to explain where my sample is or to attempt to return my money. This is a scam to steal your hard earned money. Who knows where my DNA sample could end up! I will be contacting my attorney first thing Monday morning!
Dear Molly,
Thank you for your review here on SiteJabber.
I am sorry that you feel your money was stolen and may I assure you that we are not a scam company. There is more than likely a simple explanation as to why you have been sent a replacement kit and I would like to investigate this matter for you.

I inadvertently missed a step when filling out My Heritage forms. Fortunately, I was generously assisted by Josh, a service representative. He led me step by step on my IPad and I was able to complete the form. Josh was informed, knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Because of Josh I would recommend My Heritage to anyone interested in their ancestry.
I will give it 5 stars when they are totally up to speed on some apps that they are working on, but they are almost there and for the money, you simply cannot beat it. I was running both, this and the other "top" program. Without a doubt MyHeritage is better. I received more hits (verifiable) and was not charged the moment my search was no longer in the US. MyHeritage is simple and straightforward. Im hoping that they will update the layout abilities soon, but Im ok with that. Not sure how the DNA works, have heard not too good reviews on that, but hoping that they improve this.
I wanted to check my birth certificate so used their free trial period to do so. I then unsubscribed, only to be charged £59.95 a few days later. I phoned them to ask how this could happen but they had initially no idea. Later they informed me that I had put in a wrong e-mail address and therefore had not cancelled my subscription, but very generously said they would give me a 50% refund and keep my membership for a year. I don't want to be a member, the email address they said I used does not exist, so why did they take my money? Also it was some 15 days ago and I have not received my refund, and they do not reply to my e-mails. Rubbish company only interested in one thing, "YOUR MONEY"

This test is awful. The information you receive is extremely general. It's a waste of time and money. Go with ancestry. I received more information from that DNA test and they also provide more resources.
My Heritage is a joke and pathetic.

Result very vague. If you want to go into any detail at all, it's more fees. Not worth the initial cost.

Today I spoke with Marianne and she was very helpful in export and import of a tree to my web site. She gave me an opportunity to ask questions but I did not know of any. Later, when opening the site, I found I did need to ask about "you are not a member". I called again and talked with James who promptly explained and guided me to a solution. It is certainly a pleasure to have such patient and knowledgeable team members. Thank You. Maylene (Smith) Cobb
Best site for ease of use, organization, and presentation. 99% of what I did required no help; but when I did need assistance a smiling knowledgeable staff person was there to provide information.
With this site I was able to reconnect with family in Europe that World Wars and the subsequent Iron Curtain had prevented for multiple decades. So, wonderful was my experience it prompted the best attended Family Reunion we ever had with attendees from both sides of the Atlantic. So successful was my research it cleared confusion of how branches were connected. It gave true reason why we held each other so dear. Our family was even published in a US national newspaper for our European heritage.
I had a problem with my acct. And log-in and spoke to Sterling. He was very helpful and helped me resolve my problem. He also answered many questions for me about how My Heritage works. Another thing I like is when I was on hold it tells me what number I am in line, this is a very good thing for a hold system.
Mijn grote waardering daarvoor. Kan ik iedereen aanraden.
Both my husband and I ordered the kits and they were both listed under his name. Linda was able to correct the problem without much difficulty. She was outstanding! I did find the phone wait extremely long before I was able to speak to someone in customer service. We have ordered kits now for other family members. Thank you.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.
Answer: Probbably you should like to know what are additional charges - described on MyHeritage site: Help Center > Account and Subscriptions > Subscriptions Whats the difference between a FAMILY SITE SUBSCRIPTION and a DATA SUBSCRIPTION? A Family Site Subscription (Premium or PremiumPlus) entitles you to increased storage on your family site for people in the family tree, photos, videos and documents. In addition, you can save and extract information from historical records you find in SuperSearch or get with Record Matches directly to your family tree.
Answer: If you have any problem with My Heritage you should email support@myheritage and state that you with to terminate the programme. They will tell you how to go about it. Hope that helps Sandra.
Answer: I believe a direct ancestor is someone without whom you would not be here. All your other ancestors are indirect.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.

Hi Andrey,
I'm sorry you feel this way about the DNA test you have purchased from Myheritage.
I can understand your frustration but I can assure you that we do not assume anyone's DNA results by their mailing address.
The results you receive in the MyHeritage Ethnicity Estimate are based on an autosomal DNA test. This test analyzes DNA inherited from both your parents, giving you a range of information about where your ancestors lived before a few hundred years ago.
Because the percentages of DNA a person receives from his ancestors at the level of second generation (grandparents) and further back are not necessarily divided evenly in each generation, it is possible that one great-grandparent may have passed on 3% of his/her DNA to his great-grandchild, while another great-grandparent may have passed on 11%.
This might explain some surprising results in your MyHeritage Ethnicity Estimate. If for example one grandparent is pure British, and the other three grandparents are all pure Russian, the grandchild may be anywhere between 0-50% British, and 50-100% Russian. However, the probability of a person having only one pure ethnicity is very unlikely.
Please note that bio-geographical estimates, are complicated. Different researchers analyzing the same DNA of a person can come up with different estimates based on a number of different factors, including the reference populations used for comparison, the algorithm, and many more factors.
All in All, your feedback is important to us. After the initial launch of the Ethnicity Estimate Beta, we received feedback from our users that we are using to improve and refine our current model. We are also still in the process of data analysis and we are still receiving and analyzing DNA samples for the MyHeritage Founder Population project. Once we will have analyzed most of the DNA samples for the different ethnicities, we will gradually add many more supported ethnicities in the MyHeritage Ethnicity Estimate.
We would like to re-process your raw DNA data when this updated model is ready in the near future, so that your Ethnicity Estimate will be more refined. We will be sure to keep you updated when this has happened.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions about your research at [email protected].
Warm Regards
Rafael
Myheritage Team
