I am quite literally blown away with this unique service. The step by step instructions were easy to follow. Post your package and then wait. The results were unexpected and it ended the family myth of our ancestors came from a shipwrecked Spanish galleon
I started off with a little bit of knowledge about two great grandparents on both sides. With the help of MyHeritage and access to other genealogy sites I have more than 1200 direct ancestors. What a revealing and exiting road this is.
Kit arrived fine and had clear instructions on how to use it. Unfortunately when it comes to returning the DNA sample it's not a prepaid envelope. To send it back from Australia the AU post agent said it needs to be couriered and customs declaration filled out. This adds over 50% to the price of the kit. I had previously used Ancestry.com and the kit had a prepaid return envelope.

The details from Heritage plus the matches from other family trees on Heritage help to confirm my details are correct when tracing old relatives in the 1800's and even the 1700's. The details showing siblings, children, parents, etc. enable a much wider view of my relatives, and lots of surprises about the huge families' parents had many generations ago. And often several wives. It can be absorbing and very addictive.
Having used My Heritage Before Pre DNA Testing, I have found it to be really helpful wgilst tracing all my ancestors both in the UK and Abroad.

I find MH easy to use, searching is straight forward albeit some search results are a bit broad. The tree consistency checker is an extremely useful tool. The Smart Matches and Record Matches are a useful tool which I use all the time but I always cross check the information as it is too easy to just accept!

Zelfs als je niet direct opneemt proberen ze vele malen je te bereiken via telefoon en laten een mailbericht achter waarop je een reply doet met melding dat je beschikbaar bent. Een beetje later heb je opnieuw een telefoontje van hen. Ze luisteren eerst naar wat je wil zeggen en zorgen daarna voor een één of meerdere oplossingen. Aan jou de keuze. Als er iets fout gaat met het programma, dan stellen ze alles in werking om het vlug op te lossen of geven ze jouw voorstel door aan de programmeurs. Veelal, maar niet altijd, gaat dit ook gepaard met een extraatje van hen, ter compensatie.

Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).

Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
