I have subscribed to both MyHeritage and another genealogy site. My experience with MyHeritage has been great, and when I had an issue requiring customer service, my concern was immediately take a care of. The unusually fast, personal attention and kindness I was shown was without a doubt the best I have ever received from any company. I highly recommend MyHeritage.

Due to not reading the T&Cs closely enough last year when I joined I erroneously signed up for an automatic renewal and was quite upset when I saw that an amount had been taken this month. I contacted Bobby at customer support by email and he couldn't have been more helpful. The money was rapidly refunded. If I did need an ancestry website again I wouldn't hesitate to use MyHeritage.

I sought advice on the appropriateness of using Family tree Builder to remove duplicates in an online tree managed across the world. Advice was this was the best method to remove duplicates as long as I was careful to synchronize the Tree once I was sure that a small number of the correct duplicates were removed.

The person that helped me was so caring and helpful and made sure my request was answered as we visited. I had decided that it would be helpful to put my maiden name in also since that's what people seem to be looking for. As we continued to visit he said he was in Cork (?) Ireland which I found very exciting because my DNA just came back as 52.4% Irish--thanks Shoham! MyHeritage has reached me with other informative statements to help me on this journey. I would suggest to anyone in this kind of quest to chose this site for the place to start---you couldn't go wrong!

If you have created a family tree at this site make sure you check search engine results of yourself now. A few weeks ago I received an email notice of the myheritage.com security breach. Checked search engines and now they have changed user setting / preferences so that previously private information about family trees is public! Really?
All my genealogy work was unexpectedly deleted for some unknown reason. I called tech support and was put in contact with Jonathon. I explained to him what had happened. He told me he would look into the issue. After several back and forth emails he was able to restore by family history. Jonathon was easy to talk to and he was genuinely concerned about my issue. Thanks Jonathon and MyHeritage for a job well done.
My husband bought the DNA for me for Christmas I was so happy with the test and results and would give you 5 stars, HOWEVER to get more information you need to subscribe... so no a big issue I have that with ancestry my problem with MYheritage is that you want the WHOLE year up front, I can not afford to do that, monthly like I have on ancestry I can afford and have had very good matches. I do have stuff come up on heritage that I would love to see but not for the yearly cost at one time. I think that your site needs to review that not every one can afford to pay up front and you could get more people interested if you broke it to monthy, Thank you for letting me vent.

MyHeritage offers an assembly of paid subscriptions that will fit your research and budget. But, we also have a free basic membership and a free downloadable Family Tree Builder program.
Testing your DNA with MyHeritage provides you with two types of results that do not require an additional payment:
An Ethnicity Estimate - a comprehensive breakdown of your unique DNA composition. You will discover where your heritage originated from and how much each ethnicity is part of your ancestral origins, and even view the main life events of your direct ancestors on the Ethnicity map.
DNA Matches - This technology compares data from autosomal DNA tests results and family trees to identify matches between users that share genetic sequences and indicate a family relationship. You may contact your matches at no extra charge as well.
Please keep in mind though that some records in SuperSearch are free (e.g. BillionGraves, Social Security Death Index).
That being said, some features require a paid membership to ensure the development and upkeep of our research tools. We have several additional memberships that vary in price to accommodate one's research needs and budget.
Some of our members prefer to only pay for some features as they don't really use the entire array of tools we offer. This is why we offer separate subscriptions along with a full complete one and a free trial for our data subscription.

Well explained help was given to find my way through the various drop downs to help with printing and sharing my account with my first match from my DNA who is actually related to me. At the time he did not have all my family names just our DNA matching

In brief: For over 11 years I am using MyHeritage together with their services and I can only say that I am completely satisfied.
Excellent service. Friendly and persisted until problem was solved. Never wavered until we got to the root of the problem and then to the solution.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).

Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.

Your privacy concern is well understood but I would like to clarify that this issue did not make any private trees public.
This intrusion was limited to only MyHeritage user's email addresses and hashed passwords (not the actual password itself). There is no reason to believe that any other MyHeritage data was compromised.
Credit card information, family trees, and DNA data are stored by MyHeritage on segregated systems that are separate from where email addresses are stored. Privacy and security have always been paramount to us and this was done for added layers of security. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that information has been compromised.
Although no passwords were leaked but only hashed versions of the passwords, we have encouraged our users to update their passwords as soon as possible. For the sake of maximum security for our members, we have already started the process of expiring all user passwords and to prompt members affected to update their passwords as soon as possible.
