My husband wanted a DNA test for his Christmas gift and as they were on special, I decided to get one for myself also, and so started my journey with MyHeritage.
We both went online and entered the required information, which started our family trees.
The kits arrived in a couple of weeks, and we did the tests straight away and sent them back.
It took awhile for the lab results to come back, but we were kept updated with regular emails.
From entering the required information, I started receiving emails with information that linked my family tree with other people.
As I entered more of my family details, I found so much information and so many links to others' family trees, that is expanding my family tree and filling in, what has been up to now, information that I could never find before.
I'm very impressed with MyHeritage!

As above. There are many records across continents and ethnicities. It's just a shame that my cousin's dna has mutations so we can't fully trace my father's line back past our great grandfather. It appears our great great grandfather was born in India around 1832 - 1835 and we have no real way to confirm this. If we could, I believe we would eventually connect up with Joseph Salvador born in 1716 possibly in London- died 1786 in Charleston. There is heaps of autosomal connections supporting this connection with Spanish and Portuguese people, If we could connect these two people, we would have our history back to 1492 and backwards in Spain where the Inquisition forced a conversion and name change from Judaism and the name Rodrigues.
I have been amazed by the amazing depth that you can get to. Some of my records appear to go back to the 1200's.

I find it very annoying to have 999 matches come through in one block from Filae that I don't want and there is no way to delete them en masse. I hate having to go through each one to delete or ignore. I also hate their use of all CAPS on surnames which I have to edit if I want their data. I feel my tree is very mature now and I don't need matches going back to the Normans and 1066 anymore which is mostly what I get from Filae.
Otherwise, I have had wonderful revelations and discoveries and found that my husband's and my trees have intersections in the 1400's!

I have used different genealogy services but in my experience, MyHeritage is the best. Their records are extensive, their automatic match finders are very helpful, their autosomal DNA features are the best available, and the company is exceptionally innovative, regularly coming out with new features. Other companies have their good points but if I could only choose one provider, it would definately be Myheritage.
This is a great company who I have been with for some years. My experience with them has always been very positive. Their support team has always been first rate. I highly recommend them.
Too many repeated Smart Matches for the same people. Often with no updating facts
Initial population of the sIte was relatively easy as was the ongoing updates and additions. The only issue I have encountered was to confirm entire Discoveries which led to creating duplicates. I've since learned to accept only specific data. If there was a warning about Confirming, I have not seen it
Jag saknar i Myheritage att man inte kan slå samman dubletter för det blir sådana ibland. Det kan man göra i Ancestry och det är en stor fördel med det släktforsknings-programmet
Good for improving photos and searching family history the video making people hug is amazing but not enough times available to use it sadly
MyHeritage, overall, is very good and I'm satisfied. I have received some input about ancestors, but I have found that I receive nothing from more recent ancestors.

Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).

Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
